Today’s worship service reminded us of the serious consequences of turning away from God.

Saul’s life showed us that disobedience can gradually lead to spiritual disconnection. Although he had once experienced God’s favour and the working of His Spirit, his continued rebellion eventually brought him to a place where he sought direction from a forbidden source.

We were reminded that there is danger in seeking help outside God. In his desperation, Saul consulted a witch at Endor, directly going against God’s command. No alternative source can provide the true security, peace and direction that come from obedience to God.

Another important lesson was the danger of delaying repentance. Even when Saul was confronted with the consequences of his choices, he failed to genuinely turn back to God. Sin becomes increasingly destructive when we continually ignore the voice of conscience and postpone repentance.

Our takeaway:
Never allow desperation to drive you away from God. When we fall, the right response is not to seek alternative powers or solutions, but to return to the Lord while He may be found. There is still hope for anyone who sincerely repents and puts their faith in Christ. 🙏🏽
