Yesterday's Sunday is past, but what we learnt from the life of David and Saul is a guide even in times of uncertainty.
David could have questioned God when he began facing attacks from King Saul, a man who was also once anointed by God but had lost touch with Him. Yet David did not question God or neither was he in doubt of his purpose; instead, he conducted himself with even greater wisdom, trusting God.
Saul, on the other hand, allowed envy to consume him so deeply that he became determined to destroy David at all costs.
Envy is deadly. It is like an odourless and colourless poison, silent, invisible, and fast-acting, destroying the very person who harbours it.
As Christians, we should abhor envy. Rather than becoming bitter over the success of others, we should pray for those who have risen to positions of influence while continuing to trust God’s timing and purpose for our own lives.
