If any man of God had earlier prophesied to Abel that his ONLY BROTHER, Cain, had perfected plans to kill and abandon his co**se in the open field in a few days time, Abel could have joined the rest of his family to accuse the Man of God of trying to "SCATTER" their peaceful family with a fake prophecy!
Why would Abel think or say so? The answer is not far fetched. Though Abel knew that Cain was angry because his sacrifice was rejected by God, he did not in any way offend him, since he was not the one that asked God to reject his brothers sacrifice.
He had no quarrel, dispute, fight, or exchange of words of any kind with him, and that was even the more reason he quickly agreed to accompany him to the field.
So, there was nothing on the background that could have suggested that such a deadly trap was in the offing so as to corroborate or give credence to such a prophecy.
But Cain was truly the enemy that Abel did not know!
