The youth president delivered a focused message on the subject of Backsliding. The teaching was anchored on Matthew 20:16, showing that position in the Kingdom is not guaranteed, and that many who start well may not finish well.
He began by exposing a hard truth. The devil is strategic. He does not attack randomly. He studies believers and introduces distractions that slowly pull them away from serving God. This warning was supported with 1 Corinthians 10:12, which cautions believers to be careful so they do not fall, and 2 Corinthians 2:11, which reminds us not to be ignorant of Satan’s devices.
He then defined what it means to be in a state of backsliding.
First, backsliding begins when a Christian starts to forsake or neglect the things that give life. Prayer becomes irregular. The Word is no longer a priority. Fellowship feels optional. This was tied to Jeremiah 2:13, where God rebuked His people for abandoning Him, the source of living water, and turning to broken systems that cannot sustain them.
Second, a backslidden Christian enters a state of spiritual degeneration. The life that once produced visible fruit begins to dry up. Growth stops. Impact reduces. This reflects Jeremiah 2:21, where a once good vine becomes corrupt and unproductive.
Third, he described backsliding as becoming a “wild camel”, drawn from Jeremiah 2:23. This represents a believer who has lost control and direction. Such a person is no longer led by God but by impulses, emotions, and worldly influence.
The core message was clear. Backsliding is not sudden. It is a process. It starts with small neglect, grows into spiritual decline, and ends in loss of control.
