Why Is It Called Good Friday?
Why do we call it “good” when it was a day of pain, suffering, and death? It is called “good” not because of what Jesus went through, but because of what we received through it. Through His suffering and death came the greatest good of all-our salvation. His sacrifice brought redemption, forgiveness, and new life to humanity.
Good Friday is the ultimate demonstration of love. Jesus gave Himself completely, taking upon Himself our sins so that we may be free. On this day, He was rejected so we could be accepted. He was wounded so we could be healed. He was nailed to the cross so we could be set free. What looked like a tragedy became the greatest act of love the world has ever known.
But here is the question we must ask ourselves today: If His sacrifice was so great… why do we still live as if it means so little? Good Friday is not just a story to remember, it is a love to respond to. As you reflect today, don’t just say, “He died for the world.” Say, “He died for me… and my life must show it.” Let His suffering touch your heart. Let His sacrifice change your ways. Let His love bring you back to Him.
May this Good Friday not pass us by, but transform us. May God help us to truly understand the price that was paid for us and live a life worthy of that sacrifice.
