SELF CONQUEST
Dearly Beloved,
The issue of self-conquest is a very vital and important determinant of whether a man will make it in God’s will or not. Self-conquest means a bringing under control of yourself. The human self in reality never wants to remain under control. Self wants to be free to do whatever it wants and likes even if it would jeopardize the future. I once said that the most dangerous weapon of mass destruction is not the atomic bomb, rather the most dangerous weapon of mass destruction is an untamed human spirit; that is, a human spirit that is not under control.
Self-conquest is also in varying levels and you can improve on it. Man is a great force on earth that would be a waste if not channeled or well maximized. Even the smallest and least thought of matters and issues can produce great strength if well focused and channeled.
The man who first conquered Mount Everest said, “It is not the mountain we first conquer, it is ourselves.” If you conquer yourself there is nothing you won’t be able to conquer. No horse ever gets anywhere until it is harnessed. No steam or gas ever gets anywhere until it is confined. The Niagara is never turned into light or power until it is tunneled. No life ever becomes great until it is focused, dedicated and disciplined.
Hold yourself responsible for a higher standard than anybody else expects of you. Never excuse yourself, never pity yourself. Be a hard master on yourself and bring discipline and focus into your life so that you can become all that God wants you to become.
