What is the Kingdom of God?

We have seen that the Gospel of the Kingdom - the Good News of the Kingdom of God is that, soon, Christ will come to establish God's everlasting reign on Earth which will signal the end to all evils in the World, the transformation of the human nature, and the gateway to true peace and universal prosperity.

So what exactly is this Kingdom of God?

First, it's important to note that the Bible is clear about what a Kingdom is.

There are some who believe the kingdom is already within us as Christians, there are those who believe the Kingdom is not a physical location, but what does the Bible say about Kingdom?

Throughout the Bible, when we see the word Kingdom we all know what it is - the Babylonian Kingdom, the Kingdom of Israel, of Judah and so on.

Every Kingdom has components -
1. A king/government
2. People/citizens/subjects; and
3. The territory

So in God's kingdom who is the king/leader/government?

In God's kingdom, Christ will be the King!

Isaiah 9:6-7:
"For unto us a child is born, unto us a Son given; And the GOVERNMENT shall be upon His shoulder....
"Of the increase of His government and peace, there will be no end, upon the throne of David and over His Kingdom, to order it and establish it..."

Let's see Luke 1:26-33
Verses 32 and 33:
"... And the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David, And He will reign over the house of Jacob FOREVER, and of His Kingdom there will be NO end."

Jesus made it clear that "to this end was I born and for this cause came I into the world..." (John 18:37)

Jesus will be King in God's kingdom here on Earth
He will sit on in the throne of David

The people of the Kingdom will be humans and
The territory of God's kingdom is this Earth

You may not get this much now but as we go on you will.

Next we look at the very beginning - Angels on Earth!.

What is the Gospel of the Kingdom? (II)

This Good News of the Kingdom reveals to us that soon, Satan's power over the world will be removed.

This Good News is that SOON JESUS WILL TAKE OVER AND RULE OVER ALL THE NATIONS.

Many today have turned to "other" gospels which as Paul wrote is not really a gospel, Gal 1 vs 6 - 7

And as we have seen before, Paul preached the Gospel of the Kingdom of God too (Acts 19 vs 8).

From the time of the early church, some teachers and preachers have preached another Jesus and another "gospel" (II Corinthians 11 vs 2 to 4)

What we mostly have today is a counterfeit gospel, no wonder Jesus asked "... Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will he really find faith on the earth?" (Luke 18:8)

The true Gospel of the Kingdom of God answers all fundamental human questions:
- Why all the evils in the world?
- What is human nature?
- What is man?
- What is the way to true peace?
And so on.

In summary, the Good News of the Kingdom of God is the news that SOON JESUS WILL COME AND TAKE OVER THE GOVERNMENT OF THIS EARTH AND RULE OVER ALL THE NATIONS.

That is when the world will know true Peace, true universal prosperity.

Next, we will look at what the Kingdom of God is!

What is the Gospel of the Kingdom? (I)

Having established that the Only True Gospel - the message that John the Baptist (who was the fore-runner of Jesus); the message that Jesus Himself brought and taught; the message the first 12 Disciples preached; the message the later disciples like the deacons preached and the message that Paul the Apostle taught and preached was the message of the "Gospel of the Kingdom of God".

Now, what exactly is the Gospel of the Kingdom?

First, let me explain what the word Gospel mean.
Gospel is an old English word translated from the Greek evangelion which means Good News!

And yes, this message is good news.

Good news because when fully understood, we will see our true and incredible potential!

This good news reveals to us what a lot of people don't know because the whole world has been deceived! (Rev 12:9)

I see people ask every day:
Why are we here?
Why was man created?
Are we just born to live and die?
If we have to come to earth to fight to go back to heaven why did God send us down from heaven in the first place?

These and many questions have their answers revealed in the Good News of the Kingdom of God.

This good news answers and reveals what man is, why we were created, where we are going, the way to world peace and universal prosperity.

But this true Gospel of the Kingdom has been hidden from many people till now.

THE ONLY TRUE GOSPEL (4)

We have seen that even after Jesus' death, resurrection and ascension, the message didn't change.

But what about the Apostle Paul?
Many has said he's the founder of modern Christianity.
Some said Paul changed the message of Jesus.
Some even said Paul preached a different Jesus.

Is any of these true?

Let's see Acts 19 vs 8:
"And he went into the synagogue and spoke boldly for three months, reasoning and persuading concerning the things of the KINGDOM OF GOD."

This was Paul!

So, even Paul, preached the same exact message - the Gospel of the Kingdom of God.

We have no reason to believe he changed the message at any point in time.

So we have seen
John the Baptist came, he preached the gospel of the Kingdom of God
Jesus came, He did the same thing
He gave the disciples the commission to do the same thing
Even after he rose from the dead He continued to teach the same thing
Later Church leaders like Deacon Philip and apostle Paul continued to preach the same thing.

But that's not all
Let's turn to Matthew 24, a very interesting passage and prophecy about the end time.

In verse 3, the disciples asked Jesus "... Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?"

Jesus listed so many things, including wars, famine, pestilences and earthquakes but in verse 8 He said, "All these are the beginning of sorrows".

Those are just the very beginning.

He continued in verse 9 listing persecution, the rise of false prophets and increase in lawlessness and He caps it ip in verse 14

"And this gospel of the Kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all nations, and then the end will come."

Very clear and direct!

This same GOSPEL OF THE KINGDOM OF GOD!
It's the same GOSPEL that was preached and MUST be preached in ALL the world before the end will come.

Today, many have heard what they term the Gospel unfortunately these are not the true Gospel

Some have only heard about the [messenger] Jesus and not the message He brought - the message of the Kingdom of God!

The only true Gospel message, and until this Gospel is preached in all the world, the end will not come!

Have you heard the true Gospel?

Now that we have learnt that the only true Gospel is that of the Kingdom of God, in the next series of posts we will answer the question "What Exactly is the Gospel of the Kingdom of God?"

THE ONLY TRUE GOSPEL (3)

We have seen that John the Baptist, Jesus and the Apostles preached the same message - the Gospel of the Kingdom of God!

And we never read anywhere again throughout the Bible another message, another Gospel given to the disciples to peach aside that of the Kingdom of God.

Every other theme is tied to the Gospel of the Kingdom.

I think at this point I should mention for those who may not know - the word Gospel is an old English word which means Good News

So basically the Gospel of the kingdom is the Good News of the Kingdom!

Back to the topic.

Did Jesus perhaps changed the message after His death and resurrection?

Acts 1:3
"... being seen by them during forty days and speaking of the things pertaining to the KINGDOM OF GOD."

Even after His resurrection, the message didn't change, He continued to speak to them of the things pertaining to the Kingdom of God.

Now wonder the disciples were asking Him in the same Acts 1 "... Lord will You at this time restore the Kingdom to Israel?"

They knew the message was about the Kingdom of God even though they didn't fully grasp it at the time.

The Apostles even after Jesus had ascended to heaven continued to teach and preach the Gospel of the Kingdom of God.

As we see even deacons who were chosen later also doing the same.

Acts 8:12
"But then they believed Philip as he preached the things concerning the KINGDOM OF GOD..."

So what did Deacon Philip preach?
The Gospel of the Kingdom of God.

THE ONLY TRUE GOSPEL (2)

We have established that Jesus preached exactly the same message as John the Baptist - the Gospel of the Kingdom of God!

In Mark 1 vs 14 - 15 we read:
"Now after John was put in prison, Jesus came to Galilee, preaching the gospel of the Kingdom of God,
"And saying, "The time is fulfilled, and the Kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel."

And Jesus didn't stop there, it wasn't a one-off thing.

Matthew 4:23 tells us:
"And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the Kingdom..."

John came, he preached the gospel of the Kingdom of God
Jesus came, did exactly the same thing.

But is that all?
Matthew 10, Jesus called His disciples, gave them instructions and sent them out.
In verse 7 we read:
"And as you go, preach, saying, "The Kingdom of heaven is at hand."

This is also the exact message God committed to the very first Apostles (disciples) He chose.

Luke 9:1-2 corroborates this, verse 2 states:
"He sent them to preach the Kingdom of God..."

Of course, in addition, He gave them the power and command to heal the sick, cleanse the leapers, raise the dead and cast out demons.

THE ONLY TRUE GOSPEL (1)

The only message Christ preached and asked the Church to preach is the Gospel of the Kingdom of God.

And that's the only true Gospel!

In Matthew 3 vs 1 - 2 we read:
"In those days John the Baptist came preaching in the wilderness of Judea.
"And saying "Repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand."

Note that: Matthew uses the phrase "Kingdom of Heaven" to denote the same thing that Mark and Luke called "Kingdom of God"

They are one and the same thing.

The summary of John's message was "Repentance in preparation of the coming of the Kingdom of God."

The Kingdom is at hand means the Kingdom is near, it's coming soon.

So the message John who was the fore-runner of Jesus preached was the message of the Gospel of the Kingdom of God.

What about Jesus?

Matthew 4 recorded the beginning of Jesus' ministry, from His 40 days and nights fast to him being tempted of the devil and in verse 17 we read:
"From that time Jesus began to preach and say, "Repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand."

Exactly the same thing that John preached was what Jesus preached.

The message was consistent!
