[18]give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

Inspiration:
It’s easy to be thankful when we are comfortable, prosperous, or healthy. But when we lose loved ones, suffer setbacks, or struggle with illness and conflict, gratitude eludes us. Yet, through even these things, God does not abandon us. Even when we have nothing or nobody else, we still have Him, carrying us through our struggles, and that is reason enough to give thanks.

NIV Bible. Isaiah 64:6
[6]All of us have become like one who is unclean,
and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags;
we all shrivel up like a leaf,
and like the wind our sins sweep us away.

Inspiration:
Sometimes we compare ourselves to others to make ourselves feel better. We reason that as long as we’re not as bad as murderers, thieves, and child abusers, we’re basically ok. But God reminds us that all of us are a complete mess, subject to ruin, without His grace. Instead of looking to others to feel righteous, we must look to God to be made righteous.

To have a BLESSED life, we must come into agreement with God’s plan, and our prayers must agree with His Word. When you base your prayer requests on His Word, you will see the answers you desire

[8] Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.

WORD INSPIRATION:
Have you noticed that predators hunt by surprising their pray? The alert animal might get a head start, bounding away from the threat, while the distracted animal becomes the hunter’s next meal. Satan, too, does his most destructive work when we are distracted by worldly cares or our own selfish desires. We must be alert in the Spirit at all times, ready to flee and defend against Satan’s threats.

Inspiration:
We all have ideas, aspirations, and goals. We use our experience and knowledge to make plans and put them into action. And we often realize how much we don’t know. Our minds can only hold so much. Our eyes can only see so far. But thankfully, we serve a God whose mind and sight know no such bounds.

Bible. Psalm 133:1
How good and pleasant it is
when God’s people live together in unity!

Inspiration:
God made us for community, and for unity. In a world marked by selfish ambition, power struggles, and conflict, the unity of Christians is a refreshing and joyous contrast. In order to build, we must each rely on God’s grace to work out the selfishness and pride of our hearts, so that He can fill us with His Spirit which binds us in Him.

INSPIRATION:
To be more like Christ, we must seek the mind of Christ. The more we think like him, the easier it will be to live for him and emulate him. And what is the mind of Christ? It is the mind that chooses humility over pride, and service over demands. His is a mind that regards others with love and seeks opportunities to dispense grace and mercy.

Genesis 1:28

God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.”

INSPIRATION:
God asks us to do two things with the earth; populate it and care for it. He created the world, all of the animals, and us. And now, He invites us, His image-bearers, to be participants in His creative work as we fill the world and nurture its inhabitants for the glory of our Creator.
