THE WORD:
SPEAKER: Elder O. S. Akpan
INTERPRETER: Bro. Jephthah G. Aniefiok
THEME: "I KNOW THAT MY REDEEMER LIVETH"
TEXT: Job 19:25, Act 8:8
The vessel illustrated the sermon with the story of Job on how he was described as a blameless and upright man who fears God. Despite his righteousness, Satan accused Job before God, suggesting that his faith is based on the blessings he receives. God allows Satan to test Job, resulting in the loss of his livestock, children, and health. Job's friends, Eliphaz, Bildad, and Zophar, come to comfort him but end up accusing him of sinning, suggesting that suffering is a result of wrongdoing. Job responds with deep grief and questions God's justice but ultimately affirms his faith, saying, "Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him". Job longs for a mediator who can reconcile him with God.
God speaks from a whirlwind, challenging Job's understanding and highlighting His own sovereignty and wisdom. God asks Job questions about creation and governance, demonstrating the vast difference between God's perspective and human understanding. After God's speeches, Job humbly acknowledges God's greatness. God rebukes Job's friends for their misguided counsel and restores Job's fortunes, blessing him with even more than he had before.
This story shows his unwavering faith in God's existence and His ability to act on Job's behalf. Despite his intense suffering, Job expresses hope in a future where God will vindicate him. This hope is rooted in his relationship with God.
Though Some interpretations suggest that Job's statement implies a hope for life after death or resurrection, as he mentions seeing God "in my flesh" after his skin has been destroyed.
Believe that your redeemer lives, no matter the suffering you are going through, always express hope that God will Vindicate you and also aids you.
The service was graced with the Holy spirit, Elders, Choiresters, Deacon, Deaconess, and the Members.
