APHESIS is a greek word translated as forgiveness, release or liberty.
It communicates the idea of a dismissal or liberation from a debt or bo***ge.
Christ didn't die to liberate us from God because God wasn't the one keeping us bound!
Sin and death held men captive.
Only a righteous man could save man from the consequences of sin and the bo***ge of death.
No one could fit into that category, not even a new born baby because they are born innocent not righteous!
So God who is righteous, became a man and through His finished work, released humanity from the consequences of sin which is death.
And liberated man from the dominion of sin.
WHAT DOES IT MEAN FOR YOUR SINS TO BE FORGIVEN?
Firstly, it doesn't mean God was angry with humanity and it was Christ's death that satisfied His anger.
Christ Is God who came to die for humanity, therefore, it would be wrong to say Christ died to quench the anger of God.
The presence of God on earth in the person of Christ communicates that God was never angry with man!
Forgiveness of sin is simply, a release from the consequences of sin which is death (separation from God).
And a liberation from the dominion of sin and death!
Luke 4:18 KJV
[18] ... To set at liberty(APHESIS) them that are bruised,
We were FULLY RELEASED FROM THE CONSEQUENCES OF SIN WHICH IS DEATH.
Christ didn't come to do a part payment.
He PAID IN FULL!!!
You are not A SINNER! YOU HAVE BEEN LIBERATED FROM SIN AND IT'S CONSEQUENCES!
The word APHESIS is deeper than just a payment for sin, it is a release from its dominion.
APHESIS is not God ignoring sin, it is not God pretending wrong doing didn't happen.
It is DEBT FULLY PAID AND YOU HAVE BEEN FULLY RELEASED.
THE BO***GE OF SIN BROKEN.
AND YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD RESTORED!
Romans 6:14 (NKJV): "For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace".
1 John 5:4: "For everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith".
You are not trying to overcome Sin, You have overcome!
You are not trying to have victory over addiction, or whatever sin you indulge in frequently, you have overcome!
You just suffer from identity crises.
All you need is to realign your mind with tonight's teaching and the subsequent teachings on this platform concerning your identity in Christ and you won't find those ungodly habits.
Shalom.
