*GUIDELINES FOR FAMILY WORSHIP ON SUNDAY 10TH MAY, 2020 @ 9am*

A) *THE APPROACH*

1. Prelude *RCH 236*

We love the place, O God,
Wherein Thine honor dwells;
The joy of Thine abode
All earthly joy excels.

It is the house of prayer
Wherein Thy servants meet;
And Thou, O Lord, art there
Thy chosen flock to greet.

We love the sacred font;
For there the holy Dove
To pour is ever wont
His blessings from above.

We love Thine altar, Lord;
Oh, what on earth so dear?
For there, in faith adored
We find Thy presence near.

We love the Word of life,
The Word that tells of peace,
Of comfort in the strife,
And joys that never cease.

We love to sing below
For mercies freely giv’n;
But, oh, we long to know
The triumph song of Heav’n.

Lord Jesus, give us grace
On earth to love Thee more,
In Heav’n to see Thy face,
And with Thy saints adore.

2. Call to worship
3. Hymn of praise *RCH 139*

1. All hail the power of Jesus' name!
Let angels prostrate fall.
Bring forth the royal diadem,
and crown him Lord of all!

2. O seed of Israel's chosen race
now ransomed from the fall,
Hail him who saves you by his grace,
and crown him Lord of all!

3. Let every tongue and every tribe
responsive to his call,
To him all majesty ascribe,
and crown him Lord of all!

4. Oh, that with all the sacred throng
we at his feet may fall!
We'll join the everlasting song
and crown him Lord of all.

4. Sentence
5. Prayers of Adoration, Confession and Supplication
6. Family Choir

8. Hymn for sermon *RCH 420*

Jesus, Thou Joy of loving hearts,
Thou Fount of life, Thou Light of men,
From the best bliss that earth imparts,
We turn unfilled to Thee again.

Thy truth unchanged hath ever stood;
Thou savest those that on Thee call;
To them that seek Thee Thou art good,
To them that find Thee all in all.

We taste Thee, O Thou living Bread,
And long to feast upon Thee still;
We drink of Thee, the Fountainhead,
And thirst our souls from Thee to fill.

Our restless spirits yearn for Thee,
Wherever our changeful lot is cast;
Glad when Thy gracious smile we see,
Blessed when our faith can hold Thee fast.

O Jesus, ever with us stay,
Make all our moments calm and bright;
Chase the dark night of sin away,
Shed over the world Thy holy light.

(d) Jesus has overcome the world (v.33)
- world of oppression & exploitation by the strong.
- Jesus has overcome all forms of captivity of sin, Satan, death, disease and pestilence.

Precious is the blood that healed us,
perfect is the grace that sealed us,
strong the hand stretched forth to shield us,
all must be well.

2. Though we pass through tribulation,
all will be well.
Ours is such a full salvation,
all, all is well.
Happy, still in God confiding,
fruitful, if in Christ abiding,
holy, through the Spirit’s guiding,
all must be well.

3. We expect a bright tomorrow,
all will be well.

Sermon Highlights

*_Topic: Watchfulness_*

* This topic is coming at a time when a lot of unprecedented events or occurrences are surfacing. Of all major predictions in the scriptures, only one is yet fulfill and that is the second coming of Christ.
In Matt. 24, Christ predicted the destruction of the temple of Jerusalem, but the disciples demanded to know the time of the destruction of the temple, the signs of His coming and the end of the age.
Note: * The destruction of the temple has occurred
* The signs of His coming are already occurring including COVID-19, see Matt. 24:7.
* The destruction of the world, evil men and Satan is yet to take place, hence the importance of understanding what kind of time we are in and getting ourselves prepared before His coming.
Ponder over these questions :
*Are the signs evident?
*What are these signs?
*What should we do to overcome ?
*What are the consequences of not enduring to the end?
*Is the church, (we, you, your family ), victim(s) of these signs, and what must be done? Joel 2:12-13
** know then that,
-if we don't watch carefully, He will meet us even inside the church unprepared, very disastrous.
- heaven is a prepared place for prepared people
- we must, I mean must reach the end as faithful soldiers
* meditate here Joel 3:12-13, Matt. 24:12-13, 2Tim. 3:13-14.
Remain in the faith, don't compromise with the world, for you don't know when He will come. What out.

Prayers.
*pray for the church, especially the PCN
*pray for HW parish, that none will be superficially religious, but that we will serve God in spirit and in truth.
*pray for the healing of the world, of covid19, terrorism etc.
*Pray for Nigeria and our state, for good governance, truth, justice, equity etc
**I pray for God's blessings upon every parishioner, whatever your worries are, God will handle them for you in Jesus name, Amen.

*close with RCH 508.

Our father in the Lord/Min/ic will give us the benediction.

Today, 10th April, 2020 marks 174 years after the Church was established in Creek Town, Odukpani LGA, Cross River State.
Happy birthday to The Presbyterian Church of Nigeria and more grace to excel in the years ahead...
