EPISODE 5: The Prince
Tayo, the manager, had been in love with her for years. Watched her come to the store with black eyes and still check expiry dates. He never crossed the line till her divorce was final.
He was Igweās nephew from a small Anambra kingdom. Educated in UK. Returned to Nigeria to ādo business, not politics.ā He married Adaora quietly. At the wedding, he adopted Chuka and Chiamaka legally. āTheyāre princes now,ā he told them. āBut your mother is the real royalty. She built a kingdom from crumbs.ā
Obinna saw the wedding pictures on Instagram. Adaora in white, smiling with a man who held her like she was glass. Their son in a little tuxedo. Their daughter throwing flowers.
He sat in his one room in Mushin, looked at his hands, and finally understood: He wasnāt broke because money finished. He was broke because wisdom never started.
Educative Lessons:
1. Abuse is not protection. You canāt beat a woman and claim you love her because you ādefendā her from others. The worst enemy was in her bed.
2. A womanās silence is not stupidity. While he was drinking, she was planning. Forbidding her to work didnāt stop her from building.
3. Pride sells what poverty would have kept. He sold his mansion to save face. She bought it to save her children.
4. Money without sense is a loan from disaster. And disaster always collects.
5. The best revenge is not retaliation. Itās elevation. She didnāt ruin him. She just refused to be ruined with him.
Suspense twist:
The manager Tayo was the son of the bank manager who approved Obinnaās first loan. Heād watched Obinna insult his father years ago. He didnāt marry Adaora for revenge. He married her because he saw a queen surviving a fool. And queens shouldnāt raise princes alone.
