TOPIC: "I SHALL BE CALLED A NEW NAME".
TEXT: Isaiah 62:1-4
REF: Psalms 27:9, Gen 17:5
INTRODUCTION: A name , according to Oxford Dictionary, is a word used to identify someone, place, or thing . It can be originated from a family lineage . Most names tends to drag us backwards instead of forwards because of our family background. It is the common causes of problem in most people life. But God gives names that changes one's entire story or background.
The name "HEPHZIBAH" is highlighted twice in 2 portion of the bible. Considering from our central text (Isaiah 62:4), Hephzibah significantly means divine restoration, favour and spiritual abundance.
This shows that God has gives names that break protocol, family bonds , negativity and demonic alignment.
BIBLICAL EXAMPLE OF PEOPLE WHOSE NAME WERE CHANGED.
1. ABRAM: He was a father of one child but when God changed his name to "Abraham" and called him "father of many nations"(Genesis 17:5).
2. SARAI: Abraham's wife name was changed to "Sarah"meaning "mother of mutitide".
3. Jacob: Jacob was a cheat right from birth. But when he encountered with God , his name changed to" Israel".
This explains that name is vital and can be used to identify someone. It also has meaning, either positive or negative. Most people have various name given to them based on their problem or condition.
In conclusion, God has changed our names today from the names that brought negativity to our lives and has given us new names with prophetic meaning. Therefore we are assured that our lives will change from henceforth as we believe in Jesus name.
