*TUESDAY 26TH MAY, 2026*
*TEXT: 1 TIMOTHY 6:6-10*
6. _But godliness with contentment is great gain._
7. _For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it._
8. _But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that._
9. _Those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction._
10. _For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs._
*TOPIC: CONTENTMENT*
Paul, in our reading, calls upon the Christians to be content with what they have and prioritise eternal things. He reminds the believers that God is good and will always supply all the needs of his children. He urges Christians to avoid the sin of greed and materialism because they cannot answer the deep needs of the soul. Contentment is more than focusing on what we have, but on the fact that all we have is given to us by the grace of God. Both material and spiritual blessings are by His grace. We get discontented when we feel we are not getting what we deserve or not as much as someone else. People with such an attitude easily wander from the faith, living in grief and regret. Some fall into the temptation of looting, prostitution, kidnapping, and so on. Be warned, the end is destructive.
*REFLECTION:* _Godliness with contentment is great gain._
*PRAYER:* _Lord, teach me to be content in your grace. Amen._
*Today's Bible Reading Plan:* _Job 26-27_
