[15] Ya Ubangiji, ka buɗe leɓunana, bakina kuwa zai furta yabonka.

[16] Ba ka farin ciki a hadaya, ai da na kawo; ba ka jin daɗin hadayun ƙonawa.

[17] Hadayun Allah su ne karyayyen ruhu; karyayyiya da kuma zuciya mai tuba, Ya Allah, ba za ka ƙi ba.

[18] Cikin jin daɗinka ka sa Sihiyona ta yi nasara; ka gina katangar Urushalima.

[19] Ta haka za a kasance da hadayu masu adalci, hadayun ƙonawa ɗungum don su faranta ka; sa’an nan za a miƙa bijimai a bagadenka.

Dukan mu mukan yi kuskure mu kuma fada cikin zunubi. Amma ya k**ata a sasance zunubi a kuma yi sahihiyar tuba kafin mayaswa ya faru.

Furta zunubi ya fi gaban juyowa daga rashin biyayya; dole ya kai ga hali mai kyau da kuma niya na biyan kwatankwaci inda ake bukata yin haka.

Mai zabura ya ambata irin hadayar da Allah ya ke so a cikin addu'arsa, karyayyan ruhu, zuciya mai taushi da ke cike da tuba daga zunubi da bacin rai domin muguntan. Dawuda ya fahimci nauyin zunubansa da kuma bashi da Ubangiji ke bin shi na gafarta masa.

Ya fahimci cewa Allah ba ya jin dadin hadaya da baikon mai zunubi (aya 16). Ya bidi ya koya wa wasu k**arsa cewa idan ka yi zunubi, ana bukatan abin da ya fi aiki da ake gani.

Domin haka, idan mutum ya yi zunubi, karin zuwa ikilisiya, ba da kudi, da kuma hidima a cikin komitin ikilisiya ba za ya iya ya gamshi Ubangiji ba. Abin da Allah ke bukata shi ne ruhu mai taushi da zuciya da ke daidai a gare shi.

Nassi ya ce idan ka furta zunubanka, Allah mai aminci ne kuma mai gafarta zunubi ne zai kuma tsarka ke ko daga dukan rashin adalci.

Idan mun kasance da halin son ra'ayinmu da fahariyanmu, mun kuma yi kuka ga Allah domin alheri da gafararsa, muna da tabbaci cewa za ya taimake mu.

Da tuba daga zuciya mai tsarkin, Allah ya yi alkawarin gafarta zunuban mu ya kuma saɓunta mu ga zumunta cikakiya.

Idan akwai wani wuri da ka yi zunubi ga Allah, ka yarda da kuskurenka, ka kuma roki Allah ya gafarta maka. Zai mayas da kai, ya kuma saɓunta ka.

*Sasancewa:* Mutum ba za ya juyo zuwa wurin Allah a cikin bangaskiya ba idan bai fara juyo daga zunubansa ba a cikin ruhun gaskiya na tuba.

We all make mistakes and fall However, sin, must be acknowledged, and appropriate repentance must take place before restoration can occur.

Confession of sins goes beyond turning away from disobedience; it must lead to positive behaviour and the willingness to make restitution where necessary.

The psalmist captures the sacrifice acceptable God in his prayer, a broken spirit, a broken and contrite heart that is filled with repentance from sin and heavy grief because of its wickedness.

David understood the weight of his sins and the debt he owed to the Lord for His forgiveness. He realised that God does not delight in a sinner's sacrifice or offerings (v. 16).

He sought to teach others like him that when you sin, something more important than outward activities is sins, increasing church attendance, giving money, councils cannot please the Lord.

What the Lord desires is a broken spirit and a heart that is right with Him. The Scripture says if you confess your sins, God is faithful and just to forgive your sin and to purify you from all unrighteousness.

When our self- seeking and proud attitude is brought low and we cry to God for His forgiving grace, we can be sure that He will accept us. With repentance from a pure heart, God promises to forgive our sins and restore us to full fellowship.

If there is any area where you have sinned against God, acknowledged your mistakes and ask God to forgive you. He will surely restore you and make you whole again.

*Perceive:* One cannot turn to God in faith without first turning from sin in the true spirit of repentance.

*Ponder:* God is not delighted in sacrifice or spiritual activities but in obedience and faithfulness with a purified heart.

*Practise:* Desire a steadfast spirit within you, and God will receive you into His presence.

*Pray:* Lord, grant me an obedient spirit and restore to me the joy of Your salvation.

*Prayer:* Dew of heaven, come upon me and refresh my spirit for God's glory.

THE SACRIFICE THAT PLEASES GOD

Sacrifice comes in various forms based on our understanding of the concept. But the biblical understanding of sacrifice is an act carried out without an alternative or plan B. When there is an alternative, then it does not really fit into the true essence of sacrifice.

Today's text was a penitential Psalm written by David when he had sexual in*******se with Uriah's wife, Bathsheba, and killed Uriah in a bid to conceal his act. The king broke after he was confronted by Prophet Nathan. The Psalm reveals that God accepts a broken and contrite heart.

The best sacrifice that the Lord accepts from us is the sacrifice of ourselves. Paul encouraged the Church in Rome to present themselves as a living sacrifice; that is Holy and accepted before the Lord. He also encouraged the Church in Corinth to learn from the Macedonian church that gave themselves to God first. We must present ourselves to God with utmost brokenness and contriteness of heart and decide not to go back to our sins.

Insight: The Lord needs to accept you first before anything else you bring to Him.

Prayer: Lord, help me to always remain broken and contrite at heart.

[25] Yanzu fa, ina roƙonka ka yafe mini zunubina, ka koma tare da ni, domin in yi wa Ubangiji sujada.”

[26] Amma Sama’ila ya ce, “Ba zan koma tare da kai ba. Ka ƙi maganar Ubangiji, Ubangiji kuma ya ƙi ka da zama sarki a bisa Isra’ila.”

Allah ya umurci Saul ta wurin annabi Samaila da ya hallaka Amalikawa, amma Saul ya bar Sarki da wasu dabbobi. Allah ya aiki annabi Samaila zuwa ga Sarki Saul domin ya bayyana hukunci mai zuwa a kan shi domin rashin biyayya da tawaye.

Samaila ya fada wa Saul da cewa Allah na son biyayya fiye da hadaya. Sai ya fada wa Saul cewa domin ya ki bin umurnin Allah, Allah ya ki shi a matsayin Sarki na jama'arsa.

Ta wurin wannan rashin biyayya, Saul ya rasa goyon bayan Allah, kasancewarsa da albarkunsa ya kuma rasa mulki na Israila. A yau, yawancin Krista na kara yawan baikonsu da kwayan irinsu, amma suna rashin biyayya ga umurnin Allah.

Allah ba zai dauki rashin biyayya da wasa ba wai domin muna ba da hadayu ba. Allah na neman masu bi da za su yi biyayya tsantsa, ba wadanda za su kawo hadayu masu tsada ba neman gafara na zunubin ganganci da sun aikata ba.

Allah na bukatan cikakken biyayya ga kalmarsa. Dole ne masu bi su dauki Kalmar Allah da tsarki, su kuma sani cewa kinsa na kai ga kin Allah.

A kullum ka tuna cewa Allah na martaba biyayyarka fiye da kyautanka. Kyauta mafi kyau da za ka iya ba wa Allah ita ce biyayya ga dukan kalmomin da ya fada maka. Biyayya ga Allah ya fikowane hadaya da za ka ba shi.

*TO OBEY IS BETER THAN SACRIFICE*

*BH 266: Standing on the Promises*

1. Standing on the promises of Christ my king,
Thro’ eternal ages let His praises ring;

[21] The soldiers took sheep and cattle from the plunder, the best of what was devoted to God, in order to sacrifice them to the Lord your God at Gilgal.”

[22] But Samuel replied: “Does the Lord delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the Lord? To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams.

[23] For rebellion is like the sin of divination, and arrogance like the evil of idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the Lord, he has rejected you as king.”

[24] Then Saul said to Samuel, “I have sinned. I violated the Lord’s command and your instructions. I was afraid of the men and so I gave in to them.

[25] Now I beg you, forgive my sin and come back with me, so that I may worship the Lord.”

[26] But Samuel said to him, “I will not go back with you. You have rejected the word of the Lord, and the Lord has rejected you as king over Israel!”

Chuck Swindoll tells about his encounter with General Charles M. Duke, a former astronaut 'who went on the Apollo 16 mission to the moon.

I asked, "Once you were there, weren't you free to make your own decisions and carry out your own experiments?" He smiled and said, “sure, if didn't want to return to earth!"

He went on to describe the intricate plan, the precise instructions, the essential discipline, and the instant obedience that was needed right down to the second.

He explained how they landed with sixty seconds of fuel remaining. Chuck said, I got the distinct impression that a rebel doesn't fit inside a space suit."

God instructed Saul through prophet Samuel to destroy the Amalekites, but Saul decided to preserve the king and some animals.

God sent prophet Samuel back to king Saul to declare judgement upon him for his act of disobedience and rebellion.

Samuel told Saul that God value obedience over sacrifice. He then told Saul that because he rejected the instructions of God, God has also rejected him as king over His people.

By this act of disobedience, Saul lost God's support, presence and blessings. He also lost the kingdom of Israel.

Today, many Christians increase their offering and seed, while disobeying God's command. God will not overlook disobedience because we give unwarranted sacrifices.

God seeks those who will obey Him implicitly, not those who bring expensive sacrifices to atone for deliberate disobedience.

God demands complete, not partial, obedience to His Word. Believers must take God's words as sacred, and know that its rejection amounts to resisting God.

Always remember that God values your obedience more than your gifts. The best gift you can give to God is obeying all the words He has spoken to you. To obey God is better than any sacrifice you can give to Him.

*Perceive:* Obedience to God's words or message saves from eternal condemnation.

*Ponder:* How obedient are you to God's instructions?

*Practise:* Ask for a receptive heart to God's instructions and voice.

*Pray:* Father, give me an obedient spirit, help me to obey Your command.

*Prayer:* Lord, because I love Your law, I will have great peace, and nothing shall by any means cause me to stumble.

GOD IS OUR SALVATION

[1] Contend, Lord, with those who contend with me; fight against those who fight against me.

[2] Take up shield and armor; arise and come to my aid.

[3] Brandish spear and javelin against those who pursue me. Say to me, “I am your salvation.”

[4] May those who seek my life be disgraced and put to shame; may those who plot my ruin be turned back in dismay.

[5] May they be like chaff before the wind, with the angel of the Lord driving them away;

[6] may their path be dark and slippery, with the angel of the Lord pursuing them.

[7] Since they hid their net for me without cause and without cause dug a pit for me,

[8] may ruin overtake them by surprise— may the net they hid entangle them, may they fall into the pit, to their ruin.

[11] Ruthless witnesses come forward; they question me on things I know nothing about.

[13] Yet when they were ill, I put on sackcloth and humbled myself with fasting. When my prayers returned to me unanswered,

[14] I went about mourning as though for my friend or brother. I bowed my head in grief as though weeping for my mother.

According to Matthew Henry, "David, in this Psalm, appeals to the righteous Judge of heaven and earth against his enemies that hated and persecuted him. It is supposed that Saul and his party are the persons he means, for with them he had the greatest struggles." Saul and his men were constantly seeking the life of David.

David called on God to contend with those who contend with him and fight against those who fight against him. He prayed to God to protect and deliver him from the hands of his enemies.

As we use this Psalm, we must be careful not to apply it to little quarrels or perceived enmity by putting up a resentful attitude due to injuries done to us. We must remember that Christ has taught us to forgive our enemies and pray for them. We may only apply the prayer in this psalm to the public enemies of Christ and Christianity who fail to repent and give glory to God. It is comforting enough to know that amid all our troubles, God is our Saviour and will vindicate us in due course. This should be our focus, as we pray with a psalm like this. God will always come through for us when we call on Him.

Prayer: O LORD, arise and deliver me from those that seem stronger than me.
