Prayer is for Alignment.

When we come to God in prayer seeking to know His mind for a situation, we come into agreement and alignment with God’s plans and purposes. The new man seeks God in prayer, follows the Holy Spirit, declares God’s Word and refuses to live by appearances; then the Spirit produces in and through him what dependence on man or flesh cannot produce.
