This Eucharistic Miracle of Nsugbe happened on the first Friday 4th of June 1999, when the status of Our Lady was weeping the second time, the Blessed Sacrament exposed on the alter began to bleed. The blood oozed out from the heart of Jesus. Firstly, the phenomenon was remarkable because the blood that flowed never dropped on the ground, but continued to circulate in the lunate. Secondly, inspite
of the fact that the blood was oozing out and flowing down, the back of the Host remained unstained by the blood. Thirdly since 1999 till date, the Host that bled has remained intact and uncorrupted. THE WITNESSES OF THE EVENT 1999. Fr. Dr. Benjamin Uden the Chaplain of St. Catharine's Catholic Chaplaincy, Nwafor Orizu College of Education, Nsugbe about the event 1999
In 1999, the then Arch bishop of Onitsha and the metropolitan of Onitsha Ecclesiastical province, Most Rev. Dr. A. K. Obiefuna declared an Anti corruption crusade" through out the Archdiocese of Onitsha. I sold the idea to the then provost of College of Education Nsugbe, Professor F. C. Okafor. He then authorized me to organize the crurade in the college. I then tagged it "War against Corruption, Inequality and Injustice". We had it on the 7th of May 1999. During the crusade, a small girl ran to me and told me that something was happening in my chapel. I rushed to the chapel and found some red substance streaming down the eyes of the statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The more l tried to examine the substance, the more l lose my memory of "Our Father" and "Hail Mary" either in English or in vernacular. The only thing l could do was to collect the specimen for diagnoses and then rushed back to Hall A where the Anti Corruption Crusade was being held and informed the Rev. Sister there. Within a very short time the news spread like wild fire. This happened on the first Friday of May 1999, precisely, the 7th day between 11.45am and 12.10pm. On the first Friday 4th of June 1999, when the state of Our Lady was weeping the second time, the Blessed Sacrament exposed on my private alter began to bleed. On the first Friday 3rd of September 1999, the statue of Our Lady wept for the third time. Only very few people witnessed the first weeping of the statue, but the second and the third weeping were witnessed by more than five hundred thousands people. HIS GRACE MOST REV. DR. ALBERT KANENECHUKWU OBIEFUNA WITNESS THE EVENT 1999. On the 7th of May 1999, the statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary Our Lady of Grace wept tears of Blood at the College of Education Nsugbe. The then Archbishop of Onitsha Most Rev. Dr. Albert Kanenechukwu Obiefuna wrote a communique to All Monsignor and Fathers requesting all to do penance and pray for light on the above Phenomenon. He concluded by saying that "we must pray and ask God to tell us what it means and what we are to do". The Archbishop himself came to the scene of the event, and declared the 28th of May 1999 a-day of reparation for the Archdiocese of Onitsha.
