THE LORD HAS POWER TO FORGIVE SINS
MATT. 9:1-8 (NLT)
[1]Jesus climbed into a boat and went back across the lake to his own town.
[2]Some people brought to him a paralyzed man on a mat. Seeing their faith, Jesus said to the paralyzed man, “Be encouraged, my child! Your sins are forgiven.”
[3]But some of the teachers of religious law said to themselves, “That’s blasphemy! Does he think he’s God?”
[4]Jesus knew what they were thinking, so he asked them, “Why do you have such evil thoughts in your hearts?
[5]Is it easier to say ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or ‘Stand up and walk’?
[6]So I will prove to you that the Son of Man has the authority on earth to forgive sins.” Then Jesus turned to the paralyzed man and said, “Stand up, pick up your mat, and go home!”
[7]And the man jumped up and went home!
[8]Fear swept through the crowd as they saw this happen. And they praised God for sending a man with such great authority. (NLT).
COMMENTARY:
The Lord and Master has the power to forgive sins either inherited or committed.
*No one in this world has the power to do that except Him.*
He healed the man with palsy by first forgiving him.
*Jesus demonstrated this virtue on so many occasions by forgiving and healing, in other words, telling us that sin is the cause of many sicknesses.*
The first pronouncement when He mounted the cross was a prayer of forgiveness; even when He was dying.
He still forgave one of the thieves on His either side by giving him a place in His paradise.
POINT OF EMPHASIS: The Lord and Master has the power to forgive sins either inherited or committed. No one in this world has the power to do that except him.
PRAYER POINT: Father, forgive us our trespasses; and help us to forgive those that trespassed against us.

QUOTE FOR THE DAY.....
*"Forgiveness of sin by Jesus Christ was a sign that the messianic age had come..._On that day a fountain will be opened for the dynasty of David and for the people of Jerusalem, a fountain to cleanse them from all their sins and impurity."*_ ~~ Zechariah 13:1.
