*CHILDREN SUNDAY SCHOOL MANUAL*

*SUNDAY AUGUST 23RD, 2026.*

*LESSON 34*

*TOPIC: FASTING THAT PLEASES GOD*

*TEXT: Isaiah 58:1-14, Matthew 6:16-18.*

*CENTRAL TRUTH:*
_God answers fasting from a repentant heart._

*MEMORY VERSE:*
*Matthew 6:16:*
*”Moreover, when you fast, do not be like the hypocrites, with a sad countenance. For they disfigure their faces that they may appear to men to be fasting" (NKJV).*

*OBJECTIVES:*
At the end of the lesson:
1. The saved child will have a sincere belief in the finished work of His death, fasting and knowing that God answers fasting from a repentant heart.
2. The unsaved child will surrender to the Lordship of Jesus burial and resurrection so as to be able to render an acceptable fasting.

*INTRODUCTION:*

*Song:*

_Lord I give you my heart_
_I give you my soul I live for you alone_
_Every breath that I take_
_Every moment I am awake_
_Lord have your way in me_

*SEQUENCE/PROGRESSION OF EVENTS:*
1. God said His children should be told of their sins. They pretend to be righteous and come to Him boldly (Isaiah 58:1-2).
2. They asked why their fasting was not acceptable to God (Isaiah 58:3).
3. God did not answer because they did not do the right thing during the fast (Isaiah 58:4).
4. The Lord said they fasted for selfish needs. The accepted fasting is to lose the bands of wickedness, let the oppressed go free and also to break off every yoke (Isaiah 58:5-6).
5. The chosen fast is to feed the hungry, protect and cloth the homeless. (Isaiah 58:7).
6. The blessing of God will be released on you when you do the right thing when fasting (Isaiah 58:8-10).
7. The Lord shall guide you continually and you shall be fruitful and the blessing of God shall be your portion (Isaiah 58:11-12).

*CLIMAX:*
When the true Sabbath is kept as the Lord demands, you will rejoice in your God, and be fed with the heritage of Jacob (Isaiah 58:13-14).

*CONCLUSION:*
When you fast, do not disfigure your face for the world to see that you are fasting. Rather anoint your head with oil not to let men know that you are on a fast and God who sees in secret will reward you. (Matthew 6:16-18).

*CHALLENGE:*
As a child of God, be humble and do the right thing during prayer and fasting. Here are some of the things you need to do while fasting:
1. You are to make amends with both God and man.
2. Remember your fasting is unto God and not man.
3. Show kindness to others and do not be oppressive.

*INVITATION:*
The unsaved child will not be able to offer a fasting that pleases God because he/she has not believed in Jesus as Lord and Saviour. You can believe in Jesus today so as to be able to render an acceptable fast (Acts 16:31). Lead the unsaved child to Christ.

*UNREACHED PEOPLE GROUP FOR THE WEEK* _Kwanka People._

Dear Lord Jesus, the _Kwankas_ are located in _Plateau_ and _Bauchi states_ in _North-Central Nigeria_. Lord over half of them follow their traditional belief, animistic religion. We pray that signs and wonders will follow the Kwanka believers as they proclaim the Gospel to their own people: "Blessed be the Lord God, the God of Israel, Who alone works wonders. may the whole earth be filled with His glory. Amen and Amen." Psalm 72:18-19.

*FAITH DECLARATION:*
I declare that my heart is soft and teachable. I do not resist conviction. I welcome it, because I know it leads me into greater intimacy with you. I will not carry shame or guilt, I release them at the foot of the cross. Your mercy is new every morning and I rise today in that mercy covered by the blood of Jesus. I am not defined by my past, l am defined by your grace, Amen.

*SATURDAY AUGUST 22ND, 2026*

*THE LORD’S ARROW OF VICTORY*

*2Kings 13:15-17 (NLT)*

*Elisha told him, “Get a bow and some arrows.” And the king did as he was told. Elisha told him, “Put your hand on the bow,” and Elisha laid his own hands on the king’s hands. Then he commanded, “Open that eastern window,” and he opened it. Then he said, “Shoot!” So he shot an arrow. Elisha proclaimed, “This is the Lord’s arrow, an arrow of victory….*

Right before his death, the king of Israel visited Elisha, and Elisha told him to put an arrow in a bow, draw it, and point it out the window. Elisha placed his hands on the king's hands and told him to shoot the arrow. Elisha then said to him, “This is the Lord’s arrow of victory.”

What Elisha did was a prophetic illustration of your reality as a child of God. In whatever your hands find to do, God wants you to know that His hand is upon your hands. Because of this, what you are engaged in is no longer ordinary. It now carries God’s unction and victory. It shall not fail.

The Lord will strengthen you, and He will teach you how to overcome your challenges and battles (Psa. 144:1). The Lord will lighten your candle and enlighten your darkness. By Him you will run through troops and leap over walls (Psa. 18:28-29).

You are not alone, and you are not hopeless. God is with you, and your victory is sure. As you remain conscious that the hand of the Lord is upon you, the Lord will guide you on how you should go about what you are doing, and the Lord will use what you are engaged in as a tool to advance His kingdom.

*Prayer:*
Father, I thank you that your hand is upon me and upon all I am engaged in. I receive your direction, strength, and victory.

*THE JOYS AND REWARDS OF ADVANCING GOD’S KINGDOM*

*Matthew 25:21 (NKJV), Revelation 22:12-13 (NIV)*

*His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’ *“Look, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to each person according to what they have done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.*

There is nothing like the privilege of causing great joy in heaven (Luke 15:10). There is nothing like the joy of hearing God say to you, “Well done for being good and faithful in your service to Me.” There is nothing as good as knowing that while on earth, you yielded yourself to God’s Spirit, fulfilled God’s purpose, and brought so much joy to God’s heart.

After Jesus humbled Himself and fulfilled God’s will by dying on the Cross, He was promoted (Phil. 2:8-9). As we remain faithful in advancing God’s kingdom, God will continue to promote and elevate us, both now and in eternity. When the master in our first text above returned, He promoted and increased the responsibilities of those who were faithful in using what they were given to carry out His will.

When Christ returns, we shall receive rewards for our service in preaching the Gospel and advancing God’s kingdom on earth (1Cor. 3:13-14). We shall receive the crown of life for enduring trials and tests of our faith (James 1:12). The crown of glory for faithfully serving and feeding God’s flock (1Pet. 5:2-4). The crown of rejoicing for winning souls (1Thes. 2:19), the crown of righteousness for looking forward to Christ’s return and living uprightly (2Tim. 4:7-8), and an incorruptible crown for living disciplined and self-controlled lives (1Cor.9:25).

*Prayer:*
Father, I desire to fulfill your purpose on earth and bring so much joy to your heart. Use me to advance your kingdom on earth.

*PRAY FOR THE ADVANCEMENT OF GOD'S KINGDOM*

*COLOSSIANS 1:9 (GNB), MATTHEW 6:10 (GNB), PHILEMON 1:4 (GNB)*

_*For this reason we have always prayed for you, ever since we heard about you. We ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will, with all the wisdom and understanding that his Spirit gives. _may your Kingdom come; may your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. _Brother Philemon, every time I pray, I mention you and give thanks to my God.*_

Prayer is a major way we partner with God in advancing His kingdom on earth. Pray for the spread of the Gospel (Luke 10:2, 2 Thess. 3:1, Col. 4:2-3). Pray for the salvation of all men and for those in authority (1 Tim. 2:1-4). Pray that those who are being saved will be properly discipled and rooted in Christ. Pray for God's will to be done and for His kingdom to prevail in various nations and spheres of influence in society. Pray for the Church, fellow believers, and ministers of the Gospel. Jesus prayed for Peter's faith to be preserved despite the trial he would face (Luke 22:31-32). Pray for the hearts of believers to be enlightened with their realities in Christ and the love of God (Eph. 1:15-20, Eph. 3:14-19). Like Epaphras, pray fervently for fellow believers to stand perfect and complete in all the will of God for their lives (Col. 4:12). Pray in the Spirit (Eph. 6:18-19).

When God revealed His will to Daniel and Elijah regarding specific situations, they prayed fervently about it until it came to pass (Dan. 9:1-3; 1 Kings 18:1, 41-45, James 5:17-18). The Holy Spirit will strengthen and direct you as you pray. Remember to always pray in faith and with thanksgiving, for this is God's will for you (Phil. 4:6; 1 Thess. 5:18).

*TOPIC: GOD’S PROMISES NEVER FAIL*

*Key Verse: Joshua 21:45 (KJV), there failed not ought of any good thing which the Lord had spoken unto the house of Israel; all came to pass.*

*Introduction:* God is faithful to His Word. Every promise He has made will surely come to pass. As a believer, you can stand confidently on His promises.

*Text:*Joshua 21:45; Numbers 23:19; 2 Corinthians 1:20; Hebrews 10:23; Isaiah 55:11*

*Questions For Discussion*
*1. Why can you trust God’s promises?*
-God does not lie or change His Word. (Numbers 23:19)
-Every promise God makes will come to pass. (Joshua 21:45)
-God is faithful to fulfill His Word. (Hebrews 10:23)

*2. How are God’s promises fulfilled in your life?*
-All promises are fulfilled through Christ. (2 Corinthians 1:20)
-God’s Word produces results in your life. (Isaiah 55:11)
-Faith activates the promises of God. (Mark 11:24)
-Obedience positions you to receive them. (Deuteronomy 28:1)

*WEDNESDAY AUGUST 19TH, 2026*

*HOW IS YOUR PASSION FOR ADVANCING GOD'S KINGDOM?*

*JOHN 4:34 (AMPC), JOHN 9:3-5 (NIV)*

*“…My food (nourishment) is to do the will (pleasure) of Him Who sent Me and to accomplish and completely finish His work. _'Neither this man nor his parents sinned,' said Jesus, 'but this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him. As long as it is day, we must do the works of him who sent me. Night is coming, when no one can work. While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.'"*

There will be many times when doing the will of God (preaching the Gospel, overcoming sin, serving in God’s house, walking in love, yielding to the Spirit, and remaining diligent) will not be convenient. But it is in those times that we prove how passionate we are for advancing God’s kingdom. In Gethsemane, Jesus said, _"not my will but your will be done, O God"_ (Luke 22:42). You are God’s workmanship.

If you refuse to arise, shine, and make an impact by doing God’s will, darkness (the devil’s will) will continue to prevail on the earth (in various lives, nations, and spheres of influence in society).

Stop living for yourself because your life no longer belongs to you _(2Cor. 5:14-15, Rom. 12:1)_. Like the mighty men of David, be willing to risk your life and do all it takes to carry out the desires in the heart of God your Father _(2Sam. 23:15-17)_. Like David, be a man/woman after God’s heart who is sold out to doing God’s will _(Acts 13:22)_. Like Jesus, let your greatest joy and satisfaction come from doing the will of God and advancing His kingdom. Apostle Paul said, _"But my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus—the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God"_ _(Acts 20:24, NLT)_. Have this mindset.

*PRAYER:*
*I SURRENDER MYSELF TO YOU, DEAR FATHER. USE ME TO DO YOUR WILL AND ADVANCE YOUR KINGDOM. I AM AVAILABLE TO YOU.*

*THE CHURCH, THE GOSPEL, AND GOD'S KINGDOM*

*MATTHEW 16:16-19 (NKJV)*

*Simon Peter answered... "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God." Jesus answered..., "Blessed are you, Simon... for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven. And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven..."*

The Church is God's greatest kingdom-advancement agency on earth. Jesus said, "Sacrifice and offering You did not desire, but a body You have prepared for Me.......To do Your will, O God." (Heb. 10:5, 7). Right now, the Church is Christ's Body, doing God's will on the earth (John 20:21). We are His flesh and bones (Eph. 5:30).

The greatest thing happening on earth right now is what God is doing in His Church. Christ is building us (His Church). Christ is being revealed and formed in us, and we are growing into His fullness. We are receiving divine empowerment to advance and bring others into God's kingdom. The only way the Church can be truly built up so that the gates of hell will not prevail against us is by the teaching of the revelation of Christ. That is the rock Jesus was telling Peter about in our text above. This is the only way we will not be tossed to and fro by various deceptive winds of false doctrines (Eph. 4:11-15).

God wants you to increase your love for the Church, and play your part in the building of the Body of Christ (Eph. 4:16). When we arise and play our part in the Body of Christ, instead of causing gaps and divisions, the Gospel will increase, and there will be a multiplication in the number of disciples of Christ in our nations (Acts 6:1-7).

*PRAYER:*
*FATHER, I THANK YOU FOR THE GREAT WORK YOU ARE DOING IN YOUR CHURCH. HELP ME TO KEEP PLAYING MY PART. BUILD US AND USE US MORE.*

*ADVANCING THE KINGDOM OF GOD (2)*]

*GENESIS 39:11-12 (NIV), GENESIS 41:56-57 (NIV)*

*One day he went into the house to attend to his duties, and none of the household servants was inside. She caught him by his cloak and said, “Come to bed with me!” But he left his cloak in her hand and ran out of the house. *Joseph opened all the storehouses and sold grain to the Egyptians, …And all the world came to Egypt to buy grain from Joseph, because the famine was severe everywhere.*

Joseph advanced God’s kingdom by overcoming sin, yielding to God’s Spirit, and doing God’s will. Despite the harsh conditions and hostilities he faced, he remained diligent in his work and service to God, and he refused to be offended. When he was running away from the temptation from Potiphar’s wife, he was running towards the plan God had to take him to the palace. Staying away from sin makes us available for God to use us to do His will and to advance His kingdom (2Tim. 2:21).

Through Joseph, the will of God prevailed in Potiphar’s house, in the prison, in the palace, and on the earth. God sent Joseph to Egypt to preserve and save the world from famine, so that the life of the Israelites would be preserved and Christ could come through their lineage (Psa. 105:16-24, Gen. 50:20).

Preaching the Gospel is the highest way we advance God’s kingdom, and in addition to this, every time we yield to the Spirit to overcome sin, walk in love, be diligent, and serve in God’s house, we are also doing God’s will and advancing His kingdom. David served God’s purpose in his generation (Acts 13:36, ESV). God is still looking for people who will yield to His leading and stand in the gap to do His will in their environment and generation (Ezek. 22:30, Isa 58:12).

CGMI ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL MANUAL

CENTRAL THOUGHT:
Our security is rooted in our identity in Christ and the finished work of redemption, not in our performance.

DATE: SUNDAY 16TH AUGUST, 2026

HYMN: S. S & S. 873-"Blessed Assurance, Jesus is Mine'

TOPIC: SECURE IN CHRIST Part1
(OUR IDENTITY AND ASSURANCE).

TEXT: Eph 1:1-4; Rom 8:1; 2 Corin 5:17; Col 3 :3

INTRODUCTION:
In a world filled with uncertainty, some Christians struggle with doubt, fear, and insecurity in their relationship with God. Questions like "Am I truly saved?", "Does God still love me?", or "Can I lose my place in Christ? "" often trouble such believers. These struggles usually stem from a lack of understanding of who they are in Christ and what Christ has already accomplished for them.
This study explores the biblical foundation of our unshakable security in Christ. As believers, we are chosen, redeemed, justified, and eternally kept by God. Before a believer can live
victoriously, he must first be grounded in this truth: understand his identity in Christ and the assurance that comes with it.
As we lay this foundation, we will
discover what it truly means to be in Christ" and how this reality removes fear, builds confidence, and empowers us to live boldly and victoriously in our daily christian walk.

LESSON OBJECTIVES
The objectives of this study are to:
1. explain what it means to be 'in Christ' and understand our identity as believers;
2. help believers understand their divine election and purpose in
Christ;
3. explain the transformation that takes place at salvation;
4. establish the assurance of God's unchanging love towards
believers; and
5. strengthen the confidence of believers in their security and position in Christ.

BIBLE TRUTH:

Q1a. WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE "IN CHRIST"?
Romans 6:3-4: 1Corin. 12:27
To be in Christ" means to be spiritually united with Him through faith. This union is not symbolic but real and life-transforming. When a person believes in Christ, he is identified with His death, burial, and
resurrection. This means that the old sinfu nature is crucified with Him, and a new life is birthed through His resurrection power.
Being in Christ also gives the believer a new identity, no longer defined by sin, past failures, or the world's standards, but by
Iighteous ness and acceptance before God.
Furthermore, every believer becomes a vital member of the body of Christ, connected to other believers and functioning under Christ as the Head. This union establishes both our identity and our security in Him.
Q1b. WHAT DOES IT MEAN THAT WE ARE CHOSEN" BEFORE THE FOUNDATION OF THE WORLD ?EPH.1:4: 1 PETER 2:9
Being chosen before the foundation of the world reveals God's eternal plan and sovereign love for His people. It means that our salvation is not an after thought but part of God's divine purpose from the very beginning. God, in His foreknowledge, set His love upon us and called us
into a relationship with Him.
This choosing is not based on human merit. effort, or qualification, but purely on God's grace and purpose. It also carries a responsibility; we are chosen to live holy lives and to declare His glory.
Understanding this truth gives the believers confidence, assurance, and a deep sense of value.

Q2. WHAT HAPPENS WHEN A PERSON BECOMES BORN AGAIN? 2 CORIN.5:17:ROM 8:1
When a person becomes born again, a complete spiritual
transformation takes place. The old life of sin, guilt, and separation from God is done away with, and a new life begins in Christ. The believer is no longer under condemnation because Christ has paid the price fo sin in full.
This new life is empowered by y the Holy Spirit, who now dwells within the believer, enabling him to live in righteousness and obedience to God. It is not merely a change in a behavior but a total change in nature, identity, and spiritual position. The believer now lives with a new purpose, new desires, and a new relationship with God.

3.WHAT ASSURANCE DO WE HAVE THAT NOTHING CAN
SEPARATE US FROM GOD'S LOVE? ROM 8:35-39: JER 31:3
The believer has strong assurance from Scripture that nothing can separate us fromn the love of God. God's love is eternal, unchanging and
unconditional. It is not dependent on circumstances,
human feelings, or performance, but is firmly rooted in Christ Jesus.
No trial, hardship, spiritual force, or life situation has the power to break the bond between God and His children. This assurance gives the believer confidence and peace, knowing that regardless of what happens in life, God's love remains constant and secure.

Q4. WHAT DOES IT MEAN THAT OUR LIFE IS HIDDEN WITH CHRIST IN GOD ?
COLOSSIANS 3:3
To say that our life is hidden with Christ in God'" means that our life is securely kept and protected in Christ. It signifies a position of safety, preservation, and divine covering. The believer's identity and destiny are no longer exposed to the uncertainties of the world but are secured in God.
This also means that our life is spiritual and eternal, not just physical or temporary. While outward circumstances may change. Our position in Christ remains unshaken. This truth gives us confidence that we are preserved by God and that nothing can ultimately destroy or remove us from His care.

DAILY LIVING APPLICATION:
Our security in Christ becomes a living reality when we truly understand who we are in Him and what He has accomplished for us.
When this truth is firmly rooted in our hearts, fear, doubt, and insecurity lose their grip, and we begin to live with confidence and
spiritual stability.
A believer who knows his identity in Christ is not easily shaken by
challenges, negative
circumstances, or the opinions of men. Instead, such a believer stands firm. speaks with boldness, and lives with assurance, knowing that his life is hidden in Christ and preserved by God.

*LESSON 33*

*TOPIC: A HONEST CONFESSION.*

*TEXT: March 7:1-20.*

*CENTRAL TRUTH:*
_God forgives and restores us back to fellowship._

*MEMORY VERSE:*
*Hebrews 8:12:*
_*”For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.”*_

*OBJECTIVES:*
At the end of the lesson:
