Have you said thank you Jesus this morning?

*Today's Reflection*

Ignorance is a great weapon used by the devil. It is opposed to truth and knowledge. People are destroyed for lack of knowledge (Hosea 4:6). Ignorance can make someone to place priority in the wrong place or mistake a blessing for a curse or a creature for the Creator. Ignorance prevented the Athens from knowing the true God. Their ignorance was excusable because they had not received the Holy Spirit. Jesus promises to send the Holy Spirit to lead anyone who accepts him into the complete truth. The Holy Spirit makes culpable ignorance inexcusable and every Christian a constant learner. Have you received the Holy Spirit?
*PRAYER:* *Grant, we pray, O Lord, that, as we celebrate in mystery the solemnities of your Son’s Resurrection, so, too, we may be worthy to rejoice at his coming with all the Saints..Amen*

*Today's Reflection*

The Holy Spirit witnesses with us. He opens the hearts of people to accept the message of Christ. Lydia’s heart was opened to accept the message of Christ. We witness with our words and deeds. The Holy Spirit witnesses with us by opening the hearts of those who listen to us, or meet us. We can witness by the way people see us handle our suffering. We can witness by giving someone a copy of the bible, texting someone a verse of the scripture, praying with someone, giving a helping hand, consoling someone in pain and visiting someone who is lonely. Be a witness.
*PRAYER:* *Dear Lord, as we live and assist others, may Your grace and mercy, blessings and strength be for us to aid us as we witness to You..Amen

*DO HAVE A FRUITFUL WEEK!!*

*IN ALL YOU DO, LET LOVE LEAD!!*

*Today's Reflection*

Today the Church celebrates the feast of two apostles, Philip and James. Their relics are kept together in the Church of the Twelve Apostles in Rome and, from the day of its dedication in 565, these two apostles have been celebrated together. Philip came from Bethsaida, on the shore of the Lake of Galilee. He was a disciple of John the Baptist and later became an apostle of Jesus. James, son of Alphaeus and cousin of the Lord, ruled the Church of Jerusalem, and probably authored the letter we find in the New Testament. He suffered martyrdom in the year 62.
St Paul affirms that the truth of the resurrection of Christ is indubitable. It is the climax of our Christian faith and the fount of the hope of our salvation. Our personal belief in this divine reality must also be rooted in our own personal encounter with the risen Christ in the sacraments. It is in this personal encounter that for us Christ becomes the way, the truth and the life. Therefore our Christian faith must always have a personal dimension which creates room for a personal encounter with God. This divine intimacy can be strengthened by pious devotion to Blessed Virgin Mary, the saints, and the meditations.
*PRAYER:* *O God, who gladden us each year with the feast day of the Apostles Philip and James, grant us, through their prayers, a share in the Passion and Resurrection of your Only Begotten Son, so that we may merit to behold You for eternity..Amen*

*DO HAVE A NICE DAY!!*

*Today's Reflection*

Jesus confronts each of us today with these startling words: “I told you, and you do not believe… but you do not believe, because you do not belong to my sheepfold.” To ‘believe’ in Jesus we need to ‘belong’ to him. In order to ‘belong’ to him, we need to ‘hear’ his voice and ‘know’ him. So, the process of discipleship is knowing, hearing, belonging and believing. This is also the process of ‘Christification’, or becoming another Christ. We see this in the life of Barnabas who was full of the Holy Spirit, and other early followers of Christ, especially those in Antioch, where they were called ‘Christians’ for the first time. Lord, help us to know you, hear you, belong to you and believe in you.
*PRAYER:* *Grant, we pray, almighty God, that celebrating the mysteries of the Lord’s Resurrection, we may merit to receive the joy of our redemption..Amen*

*DO HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY!!*

*Today's Reflection*

Isaiah servant of God was subjected to suffering and humiliation unfairly. He had done no wrong that deserved such treatment. But he bore it all without bitterness, without retaliation. He was able to do that because God was with him all the time, giving him strength to endure his trials. Jesus was that Servant of God that Isaiah prophesied. One of his greatest pains must have been the knowledge that one of his own companions, one of the twelve whom he had been grooming to become Apostles, was planning to hand him over to his enemies. But, the Servant of God that he was, knew that his Father would see him through his trials and tribulations. God has continued to do that for his faithful and loyal servants.
In our daily lives, let us learn to make good choices since Christ who called us have not imposed His will on us.
While other disciples were preparing for the Passover feast, Judas was more interested in cashing out using his closeness to Jesus.
*PRAYER:* *O God, help us to love You each new day and may our love for You inspire us always to work for You and not against You..Amen*

*DO HAVE A NICE MIDWEEK!!*

*Today's Reflection*

The best way to read the Bible and indeed the only way to read the Bible is to read ourselves into it, putting ourselves in the shoes of the characters within the Biblical stories thereby making the Bible become our examination of conscience. When we try to place ourselves in the characters of today’s Passion Narrative, we cannot but see how real the story becomes and how it contains so many lessons for us even today.
Our people say that it is the rat inside the house that goes to inform other rats outside that there is food in the house. The enemy outside cannot succeed without the permission or cooperation of the enemy inside. Again, in pidgin, there is the saying: “NA WHO KNOW MAN, NAI DEY KILL AM.” All these boils down to the person of Judas Iscariot. But wait, before you begin to judge him, why not ask: “Haven’t I betrayed my close friends in the past?” “Don’t I sit down to gossip about people very close to me using the secrets I know about them against them?”
*PRAYER:* *Almighty everlasting God, who as an example of humility for the human race to follow caused our Saviour to take flesh and submit to the cross, graciously grant that we may heed his lesson of patient suffering and so merit a share in his Resurrection..Amen*

*DO HAVE A GLORIOUS DAY!!*

*IN ALL YOU DO, LET LOVE LEAD!!*

*HAPPY SUNDAY!!*

Today's Reflection

In the sixth Station of the Cross, Jesus speaks: “Can you be brave enough to wipe my bloody face?” “Where is your face?” you may ask, and I will answer “at home, at work, in the streets, in market corners, wherever suffering exists, my face is there and there I look for you to wipe away my blood and tears.”
A great man once commented: “The amount of respect I give to people is not based on how high they carry themselves but how they treat those lower than they are.” How do you treat people lower than you? How do you treat those who cannot measure up to your status, your money, your intelligence, your position? Whatsoever you do to the least (the smallest, the unimportant, the poorest, the minority), that you do unto me.
The book of Leviticus tells us: “You shall not hate your brother in your heart, but you shall reason with your neighbour, lest you bear sin because of him…but you shall love your neighbour as yourself.” Leviticus 19:15-18.
*PRAYER:* Heavenly Father, we offer ourselves to You, lead us in all we will do. Bless and favour the work of our hands so that we will be fruitful. Give us the grace to seek holiness in all we do. Help us to love our neighbour as ourselves and to be kind to them always. Through our actions may the hungry have something to eat, the thirsty have something to drink, the naked have something to wear, the sick and those in prison get the consolation they desire..Amen

*DO HAVE A FRUITFUL WEEK!!*

*BE KIND TO OTHERS!!*

*IN ALL YOU DO, LET LOVE LEAD!!*

Death Anniversary of Archbishop G. G. Ganaka of Jos on 11th Nov 1999

First Reading: 2 John 4-9
Gospel Reading: Luke 17:26-37

Today’s Reflections

The commandment of love of God and neighbour is the greatest of all commandments, says St John in today’s first reading (2 John 4-9). This is the way of Jesus and this is the true manner of living.
The unexpected nature of the coming of the son of man as depicted in the gospel (Luke 17:26-37) is very frightening. This was portrayed by images of Noah and the flood, the days that two men will be sleeping on a bed, one will be taken and the other left, two women will be grinding together, one will be taken and the other left. The warning is not to frighten but to stimulate Christians to action. It is to motivate all to be prepared by living according to the commandments of God.
*PRAYER:* *Lord God, keep our eyes fixed on You always and in all our struggles, may we never forsake You buy walk constantly in Your sight..Amen*

*DO HAVE A GOOD DAY!!*

Thursday November 10, 2022
Saint Leo The Great, Pope and Doctor of the Church (Memorial)
Office - Memorial, Psalter Week 4
Mass of Memorial; Preface of Holy pastors
Vestment: White
Today’s Mystery: The Luminous Mystery

First Reading: Philemon 1:7-20
Gospel Reading: Luke 17:20-25

Today’s Reflection

The Gospel passage (Luke 17:20-25) of today is very pertinent to our contemporary time. Many preachers predict the end times to scare people to repentance. But Jesus cautioned his disciples against following such preachers. He made it clear that with the event of his coming, the kingdom of God is in our midst, in our hearts. Yet people did not understand and accept him.
The Christians are those who have the capacity to forgive hurts and extend a hand of friendship to those who offend them. This is what we see in the first reading (Philemon 1: 7-20)
where St Paul appeals for Onesimus, the runaway slave. Christians should follow the example of our Lord Jesus Christ in his forgiving love for the sinner.
*PRAYER:* *Dear God, in our daily choices and action, grant us the grace to serve you better and help us to always use our lives to enhance the lives of the people around us..Amen*
