Family Patterns ; Breaking Negative Patterns

Text: Ezekiel 18:14–17

1. Recognize Negative Patterns

The son first saw the sins of his father. Change begins with honest recognition.

Key Verse:

> "He sees all the sins which his father has done, and considers, but does not do likewise." — Ezekiel 18:14

2. Refuse to Repeat Wrong Behaviors

Seeing a wrong pattern is not enough; we must choose not to continue it.

Key Verse:

"He sees... but does not do likewise." — Ezekiel 18:14

Supporting Verse :

1 Corinthians 10:11 — "These things happened to them as examples and were written down as warnings for us."

3. Choose a Different Path

God honors those who choose righteousness despite their background.

Key Verse:

> "He shall not die for the iniquity of his father; he shall surely live." — Ezekiel 18:17

4. Personal Responsibility Before God

God judges each person by their own choices, not by their parents' mistakes.

Key Verse:

> "The son shall not bear the guilt of the father." — Ezekiel 18:20

Supporting Verses:

Galatians 6:5 — "Each one shall bear his own load."

Romans 14:12 — "Each of us shall give account of himself to God."

5. Build a New Legacy

When you break a negative cycle, you create a better future for those who come after you.

Supporting Verses:

Psalm 112:1–2 — "His descendants will be mighty in the land."

Proverbs 13:22 — "A good man leaves an inheritance to his children's children."

Prayers :

1. Father, open my eyes to recognize and break every negative family pattern that is not in line with Your will, in Jesus' name.


2. Lord, give me the strength to refuse every sinful and destructive behavior that has affected previous generations, in Jesus' name.

3. Father, help me to choose Your ways and make decisions that lead to life, peace, and righteousness, in Jesus' name.

4. Lord, teach me to take responsibility for my actions and live according to Your purpose for my life, in Jesus' name.

GOOD PLANNING (Proverbs 21:5)

Planning is the wise and prayerful arrangement of actions and resources to accomplish a God-led purpose, project, business etc.

What Good planning produce :

1. Prayer should precede planning (Nehemiah prayed before presenting his plans to the king and before rebuilding Jerusalem's walls (Neh 2 : 4-8).

2. Good and expected Outcome (Joseph planned for famine during the years of plenty in Gen 41 : 33-36).
3. Helps us avoid or minimize waste resources, time, and funds (Jesus encouraged us to sit down and count the cost before building a tower).
4. Planning helps us stay aligned on our vision (hab 2:2-3)
5. Planning requires good counsel (Ex 18 : 17-24)
6. Planning takes diligence to finish well (Joshua followed all God's instructions to take the Israelites to the promise land).

Prayer points :

1. Father, give me the wisdom to plan according to Your will in Jesus' name.

2. Lord, remove every spirit of carelessness and haste from my life.

3. Grant me the grace to be diligent in all my responsibilities.

4. Father, direct my plans and establish the works of my hands.

5. Lord, help me to recognise and prepare for future opportunities.

6. Every power assigned to frustrate my plans, be destroyed in Jesus' name.

7. Father, connect me with wise counsellors and destiny helpers.

8. Lord, grant me discipline to execute every good plan You place in my heart.

9. Let every delayed vision and project receive divine speed and completion.

10. Father, let my diligent efforts lead to abundance, increase, and lasting success according to Your Word in Proverbs 21:5, in Jesus' mighty name. Amen.

What's Faith ? Faith is COMPLETE trust and confidence in God's power, word, and promises even if it's not visible yet. Hebrew 11:1

1. Abraham left his hometown
2. Peter walked on water
3. The woman with the issue of blood
4. David fought Goliath
5. Moses raised his rod over the red sea and it parted.

Miracle is an event or occurrence that can only happen by the supernatural power of God without humanly explanation.

When you need FAITH to receive your miracles :

1. Confusion on what to do
2. Praying for healing
3. Financial stagnancy
4. Fruit of the womb
5. Protection
6. Provision
7. Helpers of destiny
8. Marriage
9. Breakthrough
10. Deliverance

What to do while praying for Miracles :

1. Don't stay idle ; get to work
2. Don't stop praying
3. Don't stop reading His word
4. Don't stop praising him
5. Don't stop giving

1. Some traumas affecting Christians :

* Background Nature
* Failed Romantic Relationships
* Broken Home Victims
* Family and friends feud
* School and Community Bullies
* Domestic Violent Partner
* High School Punishments
* Poverty
* Disabilities
* Bad prophecies
* Lost opportunities
* Death of loved one
* Bad business, decisions or lost of job etc.

How to heal :

1. Accept the story/past
2. Forgive the abuser(s) or the cause (even if it's yourself)
3. Start working on your mind, look, thoughts, prayer life etc.
4. Expand your network to meet amazing people (forgetting the bads people did to you)
5. Stay clear off ideas of your past or similar influences while staying committed to God's work and your personal relationship with him.
