*HOLY MICHAEL DAY IN C&S - The History*
For us in Cherubim & Seraphim, September 29th is not just a general Archangel feast day. It has a special history in our Church.
*1. How it started:*
During the early days of our Church in Lagos, after fasting and prayer, our Founder *St. Moses Orimolade Tunolase* named the prayer group *Egbe Serafu (Seraphim Band) on September 9, 1925.* 095d
Then, *on September 29, 1925, he named Holy Michael as the CAPTAIN of the Holy Order.* That is why we celebrate September 29 every year as Holy Michael Day. 704e
*2. Why Holy Michael as Captain?*
The Church believes strongly in angels as patrons who provide spiritual assistance. Holy Michael is seen as the Prince of the heavenly host, the warrior who fought against Satan and his evil angels and defends the friends of God. 586cba15
The title "Captain" is from spiritual warfare. The Bible says "we wrestle not against flesh and blood..." Ephesians 6:12. So Michael is our spiritual Captain who fights our battles. 704e
*3. How we celebrate it:*
It is a day to *thank God for all the victories He grants us as Holy Michael fights the battles of the faithful*. 7add
On this day, all C&S branches worldwide hold a special service where we read two lessons: *Daniel 12 and Revelation 12*. We sing "E dide Omo Ogun gbala..." and celebrate victory. Red - the colour of victory - is significant for our girdle. 7add
*Important Note:* C&S DOES NOT WORSHIP Michael. We worship God, we only honour and commemorate Michael as our heavenly Captain and ministering spirit doing God's assignment 704e
