*MESSAGE: CAN WE REALLY TRUST GOD'S PROMISES*

*DATE: FRIDAY, OCTOBER 27, 2023*

*TEXT: 2 Corinthians 1:20, For all the promises of God find their Yes in him. That is why it is through him that we utter our Amen to God for his glory.*

A young seminary student was preaching a sermon and talking about the phrase in Deuteronomy 31:6 that says, “(God) will not leave you or forsake you.” This young man had been taking a Hebrew class, and learned about the Hebrew intensive here that amplifies the effect of this sentence.

He explained, “When it says God will never leave you or forsake you, it means He will never, never, ever, ever leave you or forsake you.” So he finished up his sermon and was very proud of himself. But after the service, a woman came up to him and said, “Sir, I don’t know how many times God has to say it for you, but once is enough for me!”

Very often, people have a hard time taking God at His word. Now, I’m not saying this young student was wrong, but it’s true that once is enough. If God says it, that settles it, and there’s absolutely no reason to doubt it.

You can always take God at His word. Even when it seems like things aren’t going the way they should be, He’ll come through because He said He would. Never doubt; always trust; and let God’s promises give you hope!

*DIVINE INSTRUCTIONS:*
BELIEVE EVERY ONE OF GOD’S PROMISES AND FIND HOPE IN HIM!

*MESSAGE: WAITING FOR YOUR ETERNAL HOME*

*DATE: FRIDAY, MAY 19, 2023*

*TEXT: Philippians 3:20-21, But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself.*

I once heard an older man who’d lived for many years talk about how he was approaching his death and getting ready for his entrance into heaven. He said, “You know, when I was a little boy, I was afraid of heaven. To me, heaven was a million miles away with a bunch of spires and steeples and streets of gold and thousands and thousands of people I didn’t know!

He continued, “But then, I had a little brother die. When that happened, heaven became a place with one little boy that I knew.” Then he said, “Through the years, my family and friends, including my wife, have gone on to glory. So when I think of heaven now, I don’t even think of the spires and the steeples and the streets of gold. I just think of the many loved ones and friends and my Savior who waits for me there.”

One of these days, you and I will be face to face with the Lord Jesus. And what a wonderful day that will be! We’ll be in perfect fellowship with him forever with all the saints who’ve gone before us.

Heaven isn’t just white clouds and gold streets. So as you look forward to your eternal destiny, look forward to the perfect fellowship you’re going to have with God and with others in your eternal home!

*DIVINE INSTRUCTIONS:*
AS YOU THINK ABOUT HEAVEN, LOOK FORWARD TO PERFECT FELLOWSHIP YOU’LL HAVE WITH GOD AND WITH OTHERS IN YOUR ETERNAL HOME!

*MESSAGE: TRUE HOPE THROUGH JESUS CHRIST*

*DATE: TUESDAY, APRIL 11, 2023*

*TEXT: John 20:16-18, Jesus said to her, “Mary!” She turned and said to Him, “Rabboni!” (which is to say, Teacher). Jesus said to her, “Do not cling to Me, for I have not yet ascended to My Father; but go to My brethren and say to them, ‘I am ascending to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God.’” Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples that she had seen the Lord, and that He had spoken these things to her.*

What an amazing scene. Mary Magdalene had thought Jesus was dead. Instead she comes face to face with the resurrected Lord!

The hope that Mary experienced the day of Jesus’ resurrection is the same hope you and I celebrated on Sunday.

Hope that comes from Jesus Christ is not just wishful thinking. It is a powerful reality that changes all of life. HOPE.

Helps you. It helps you cope with the darkness of disappointment. When you know Jesus Christ, you see Easter as more than a religious observance. It is the reality of a personal relationship with Jesus Christ!

Opens to you the possibility of restoration after defeat. Because Jesus came back from the grave, you can be restored and renewed, no matter how defeated you may feel.

Provides you an answer when you doubt. Today, you may be wondering if all this is really true. If so, I advise you to sincerely search for God with all your heart by reading the Bible and listening to His Word being preached. Because He will show Himself strong on your behalf.

*MESSAGE: ANTICIPATING GOD'S WONDERFUL REWARD IN HEAVEN*

*DATE: FRIDAY, MARCH 17, 2023*

*TEXT: Philippians 1:22-24, If I am to live in the flesh, that means fruitful labor for me. Yet which I shall choose I cannot tell. I am hard pressed between the two. My desire is to depart and be with Christ, for that is far better. But to remain in the flesh is more necessary on your account.*

When I read today’s passage, I always find the apostle Paul’s terminology here very interesting because he thinks of going to be with Christ as a ‘departure’. Now what does that really mean? Well, that word was used in many contexts in biblical times. Here are just a few:

First, it was a word used by sailors talking about getting a ship ready and setting sail to distant shores and new horizons. One of these days we’re going to set our sails bound for glory and discover the horizons of heaven forever!

Second, that same word was also a soldier’s word for when he would fold up his tent after the battle and march home in victory. And that’s exactly what we’ll do one day when we fold up our earthly tents and march home in victory to Jesus.

Third, the word was a farmer’s word. When a farmer would take the yoke off an ox, that beast would then be able to rest from his labors. One day we’ll take off the yoke of this life and enter into God’s heavenly rest.

So as you anticipate your heavenly reward, look forward to discovering heaven’s new horizons, marching home in victory, and being released from the yokes and burdens of this world. What a wonderful day that will be!

*DIVINE INSTRUCTIONS:*
LOOK FORWARD TO THE GLORIOUS REWARD OF HEAVEN WITH EAGER EXPECTATION!

*MESSAGE: TRUSTING YOUR SHEPHERD IN THE VALLEY OF LIFE*

*DATE: FRIDAY, MARCH 3, 2023*

*TEXT:Psalm 23:4, Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.*

If you ever get the chance, you have to try to make a trip to the land of Israel. Not only will it help you to better understand the worldview of the writers of the Scriptures, but the aesthetic beauty alone of that wonderful land will leave you awestruck.

Now when we read today’s passage, it’s important to understand the geography of the land where David lived. When he talks about the “valley of the shadow,” he’s probably thinking of a literal valley in Israel that’s 1,500 feet deep in some places and was cut by a river flowing from Jerusalem down to the Dead Sea.

Quite often, shepherds would have to lead their sheep on the treacherous trip through this valley to get water from the river. And not only was the terrain rugged, but all kinds of predators could hide in the cliffs. So when it came time for the shepherd to move his sheep up through the valley, he had to give special care as he led those sheep into such a dangerous situation.

David begins Psalm 23 with the famous words, “The LORD is my shepherd.” And the Lord is your shepherd as well. You can step confidently into any spiritual valley knowing that he will guide you and protect you from the enemy. There is no evil that can stand against him!

*DIVINE INSTRUCTIONS:*
IN THE DARK VALLEYS OF LIFE, TRUST THAT THE LORD JESUS, YOUR SHEPHERD, WILL GUIDE AND PROTECT YOU FROM ALL EVIL!

*MESSAGE: WHO HAS YOUR LIFE?*

*DATE: SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 18, 2023*

*TEXT: 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.*

When the communists took over the Soviet Union in the early 20th century, they were described by many in the Western world as “dead men on furlough.” That is, they had died to themselves and to their own ambitions in life and lived solely for the cause of bringing about communism in the world.

I think there’s a thing or two we can learn from that. You see, if these communists could be so committed to their cause of militant economic equality and ridding their culture of God that they would die for it, how much more should believers who anticipate eternal life be committed to their cause of love and salvation?

As Christians, we need to consider ourselves dead men and women on furlough. We no longer belong to ourselves. Our death will come, whether it is decades, years, or days away. The question is what we’ll do with our lives between this day and that day.

Our choice is clear: We either live sold-out for Christ, or we don’t. To be in between on this issue is not a valid option. So beginning today, give the rest of your life to the purposes and plans of God!

*MESSAGE: YOU 'RE GOD'S VALENTINE*

*DATE: WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 15, 2023*

*TEXT: 1 Peter 1:18-19, you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot.*

Valentine’s Day provides you and me with the opportunity to think about our love relationships. It is one of the great blessings in life to have people who love us and to love them in return, especially when God is in the midst of that love.

And while these earthly relationships touch our lives in real and meaningful ways, we must never lose sight of our heavenly love relationship with God. And here’s why. No other human can possibly satisfy the deepest longings and love needs of our lives. In fact, if we expect or hope for another person to meet the needs that only God can satisfy, we will be forever disappointed.

Only God has the power to meet and satisfy the deepest needs of your heart. And it is this love that ransoms you from the futility of the self-serving and sinful ways of the flesh.

This Valentine’s Day embrace the love that God has shown for you in Christ Jesus. Accept the precious gift of his blood poured out for you on Calvary. Let him transform your heart into a mighty vessel through which his love can flow to all those around you.

*DIVINE INSTRUCTIONS:*
GOD ALONE HAS THE POWER TO MEET AND SATISFY THE DEEPEST NEEDS OF YOUR HEART.

*MESSAGE: WHAT IT REALLY MEANS TO BE THE HAND OF JESUS*

*DATE: MONDAY, FEBRUARY 13, 2023*

*TEXT: Genesis 12:2, “And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing.”*

At the start of World War II, there was a town in Europe that had a statue of Jesus Christ in the middle of it. During the war, however, that statue was destroyed. When the fighting was over and the town was being rebuilt, they were able to piece the statue back together – all except for the hands.

So one official in the town said, “Let’s commission someone to refashion the hands on the statue.” But someone else had the idea to leave the statue as it was and add an inscription that said, “His hands are our hands.”

Our nation has been indescribably blessed by God. I don’t know of another time in the history of the world when the church had the resources it has today. And with those resources comes the amazing responsibility and privilege of using those resources to be the hands and feet of Jesus Christ.

Christian, let’s seize the day! Let’s allow God to use us and all of our vitality, our unity, and our resources to make an impact like never before. Let’s be the hands and feet of Jesus Christ!

*DIVINE INSTRUCTIONS:*
BE THE HANDS AND FEET OF JESUS BY USING THE RESOURCES HE’S GIVEN YOU TO MAKE A KINGDOM IMPACT!
