*HUMILITY IN PRAYER*
"Lord,” she replied, “even the dogs under the table eat the children’s crumbs.”
_Mark 7:28 NIV_
The Syrophenician woman who made the statement in our verse for today was in a desperate situation. She needed the Lord to deliver her child from a bad condition. But, when He told her that the healing she sought was (at that time) the children's bread, she did not walk away in anger. Because she understood that only Jesus could help her daughter, she agreed with Him but pleaded for the crumbs from the children’s table.
Jesus commended her faith and healed her child. The Lord always honours faith. When you go before the Lord, believe that His Word is true and that He rewards those that seek Him diligently. Lift His Word above all your challenges. Obey Him with all your heart. He never disappoints anyone. Whoever turns away from the Word of God because it does not go down well with him or her will have nowhere else to turn to.
A brother did not like a particular country because of the violence against missionaries there. That dear brother later became afraid that the Lord would send him to that same country and lived in that fear for a period of time. One day, as he was in fellowship with the Lord, the Lord told him that all He wanted was for the brother to be willing to go to that country.
To the Lord, 'willingness is obedience'. The one who is willing to steal is a thief, isn't he? The things you are willing to do define who you are. If you find yourself not willing to do what the Word of God says concerning a certain issue, ask Him to make you willing to be willing to obey Him. God's written Word is above all. He never places anyone above His Word, never.
The Syrophenician woman was willing to accept whatever Jesus wanted. His Words did not offend her because she humbled herself to receive. Never think too highly of yourself when you pray. Sometimes, God wants those who will not reject the crumbs of His blessings to have the mega miracles. Jesus cast the demon out of the woman's child. That was not a crumb; it was not a slice; it was the bread. When you pray, humble yourself under the almighty Word of God.
*PRAYER GUIDE*
1. Give God praise for the gift of life, the Blood of Jesus, and for His wonderful promises.
2. Ask Him to make you willing to be willing to obey His written Word all your days.
3. Pray about your needs. Ask the Lord for supernatural provision and protection for His missionaries and their families.
4. Pray for the manifest presence of God in the lives of pregnant women, elderly believers, waiting couples, widows, orphans, widowers, the fatherless and the motherless.
5. Ask Jesus, the Prince of Peace to reign in your country. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem and worship God for the answers to your prayers.
*Inspiring Quote*
It was pride that changed angels into devils; it is humility that makes men as angels.
