*NO WORKS WAY TO HEAVEN*
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
_John 14:6 NIV_

A certain man told the person that was trying to get him to accept Jesus as his personal Lord and Saviour that he was better than many believers. According to him, he was doing his best to please God, and he tried not to hurt anyone. When he was told that all his works were not enough, he said that God knew his heart and that was all that mattered. He even added that it was not by reading the Bible, preaching, and going to church that one would prove that one was right with God.

He was wrong. Anyone who does not depend on the finished work of Christ cannot get into Heaven. It does not matter what he or she does to please God. Morality may keep one out of jail, but only oneness with Jesus will keep one out of hell. There is no door into Heaven apart from Christ, the Saviour. As you relate with people today and every day, remember that Christ must be seen in you. Don't try to be a good person to everyone. Live in obedience to Jesus and all will be well. The written Word of God is our Guide and Compass through life.

Not works; grace through faith is the way. This is why no man can boast about anything before God. You are blessed if you truly believe our verse for today. This is why we all must adore Jesus Who sweated, suffered, bled, died and was raised back to life by our heavenly Father to make us children of God.

Every day is a brand new opportunity to live for Christ. A lot of people on earth today think that God is pleased by their good deeds. No! God is only pleased with Jesus. No Jesus, no approval from God. All men, all good works, all philanthropic acts are nothing outside Christ. The Lord wants everyone to know this truth. He wants you to believe it, live by it, and tell it to all. There is no work way to Heaven. Only Jesus is the Way.

*HE IS ENOUGH*
For in Christ lives all the fullness of God in a human body.

Jesus is all that God has for humanity. This is why those who truly belong to Him do not need to worry about anything in this life. He is enough for you. None of the challenges you have is beyond Him. For this reason, glorify Him in all that you do.

Today is another day for you to walk in your Christ-given victory. Fear nothing and no one. When people criticise you for not dancing to the tune of the world, understand that it is because they do not know that Jesus is enough for you. Those who mix their Christianity and 'a little bit of worldliness' cannot know the satisfaction and rest that Jesus gives.

All you need is Jesus. You are complete in Him. Do your best to represent Him well everywhere you are. The Spirit of God is the Spirit of excellence. Remember that the testimony of the people in Jesus's days was that He did all things well (Mark 7:37). Don't compete with anyone; just do all things well.

A lady had a lucky charm prepared for her by a native doctor. The reason was that she needed a husband before the end of that year. She put the charm under her bed as she was instructed, but her peace left. Bad dreams became her regular experience. When the Holy Ghost convicted her of her sin, she confessed her actions to her pastor and her brethren, and they destroyed the charm. Not long after, her husband showed up. What she was told that prayer and faith in the Lord could not do happened.

Those who put their trust in the Lord will never be put to shame. No matter the job you do for money, Jesus is all you need to do it well. Obey Him and He will guide you by His Spirit into success. It does not matter what you are facing in your family, Jesus is all you need. Read, believe, and obey your Bible. Leave the rest to the Lord. Nothing in this world can prevail against Him. He is enough for you.

The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much

A believer is righteous because God calls him or her so. Nothing we do as human beings can make us attain right standing with God without Jesus Christ. But, after we have been made righteous at salvation, we must live righteous by obeying God's written Word.

If your righteousness is not practical, you are in error. This is why Jesus says that we will be known by our fruit. The fruit you produce reveals who you really are. No one can be righteous who does unrighteous things. Your character must resemble Christ's. As you progress in Christlikeness, your prayers become more and more effective. They become fire.

As a believer, your prayers should produce supernatural results. Know your identity in Christ. Put His Word in your heart, obey It and pray It. If you pray in agreement with God’s Word, He will respond in ways that will make you marvel. This is the reason those who achieve results in prayer love to pray more.

A brother was very prayerful. His life was full of the proofs of answered prayers. He loved to pray and he discipled young people to do the same. Testimony had it that his prayers hindered witchcraft activities wherever he went. This is what it should be. Our presence not only our prayers should drive darkness away. Do you recall that demons cried out when they saw Jesus? They spoke to Him first because they could not hide in His presence. The Lord’s presence exposed them. Truly, the Lord is the consuming Fire.

When we pray God's Will, His Will happens. The prayer of the righteous has great effect and produces wonderful results. You may not have special feelings, but keep praying from your heart. All you need is faith not feeling. Remember that Jesus is with us always and He makes His ministers flaming fire. Catch the fire by reading, believing, obeying and praying His Word. Never call prayer ordinary because it is not. When you meet with God's children for worship and prayer, know for sure that an inextinguishable inferno is raging, consuming every work of darkness and producing undeniable results in the spirit. May all your victories in the spirit realm manifest physically as testimonies for you to share.

*THE REASON FOR PENTECOST*
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.
_Acts 1:8 NIV_

Pentecost happened to equip the disciples of the Lord for soul winning. It was after the Holy Ghost came upon them that Peter preached the sermon that got 3,000 people saved. Speaking in tongues was the evidence that each of them had received something supernatural from the Holy Ghost- power.

Have you received the Holy Ghost? Is He at work in your life? The reason you have Him is so that you will preach the Gospel and people will be saved. The Holy Ghost gives the believer boldness. It is not possible for a child of God to be full of the Holy Ghost and not see the need to win souls. Christianity is not 'feeling good'. It is 'doing good'. Jesus went about doing good. He is our example. The Lord was full of the Holy Ghost without measure. He went about doing good and healing all that were oppressed by the devil. This is the purpose of Pentecost- doing what Jesus did in the power of the Holy Ghost

A believer who has no vision for soul winning has no fire. The disciples went everywhere preaching the Word of God and the Lord confirmed everything they said about Him with signs. Whether you find yourself at a wedding, naming ceremony or birthday party, think souls. The reason is that that gathering may be someone's last chance to hear the Gospel and repent.

A brother was on the high table on one occasion with a man of influence. Suddenly, the Holy Ghost told him to preach the Gospel to the man. He was surprised because he thought it would be a distraction. But, he figured out a way to do the assignment. On a sheet of paper, he sketched the Gospel. He wrote God on one side and man on the other and drew a bridge which connected them and labelled it Jesus.

The wealthy man received the paper, looked at it closely and after a short discussion, he gave his heart to Jesus. The Lord is waiting on you. He has promised us the Holy Ghost, and today, He is willing to give Him to anyone who desires Him.
You must have the fire for soul winning because it is what Jesus wants.

3. Pray for the revival of aggressive evangelism and soul winning everywhere on earth.

5. Pray about the needs you have. Ask the Holy Ghost to fill you afresh today. Pray that the Lord will give widows and widowers the desire and grace to serve Him wholeheartedly. Commit the leaders of your country into the hands of the Lord. Give Him praise.

Friday, 15th May

*DON'T TAKE A BREAK*
Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee. They went forth, and entered into a ship immediately; and that night they caught nothing.
_John 21:3 NIV_

In the school of obedience, there is no break time. As children of God, we must obey Him ceaselessly. The Bible says we are to be separate from the world. The children of God must come out from among the unsaved in the way we live (2 Corinthians 6 :17). We are not to go back to the things we left for Christ. Don't take a break from obeying God's Word because Jesus is coming soon.

Peter decided to go back to fishing. The others followed him, but they caught nothing. There is no gain in going back. Stay in obedience. Please take note of the truth that the others followed Peter. There are people observing the way you live your life. They are watching you and doing the things they see you do. We must all be careful. No matter how strong the pull of the world is, stand firm in Christ.

It does not matter how strong the attraction is, don't go back to the things you have left for Christ. Those who rebuild the things they destroyed make themselves transgressors (Galatians 2:18). You are to keep moving from glory to glory in the Lord. Backward movements are not for the righteous.

A brother was blessed by the Lord in a way that was far beyond what he ever imagined. The brethren in his church were very thankful to the Lord for His blessing. But, gradually, the brother stopped going to church. Everything his church did to help him failed. He went back into the world with the blessing of the Lord. You have been called out of the world. Don't go back into sin. Sin must never become righteousness to you. Your higher level in life cannot make any sinful act 'less deadly' to you. Don't let your guard down. The enemy is lurking around.

We have fish to catch for Jesus. Men are being driven to hell faster than we can ever know. Peter went back into the sea of Tiberias for physical fish. The world is our ocean. The Lord has commissioned us to fish for souls and win them to Him in it. May you catch a lot of fish for the Lord in your lifetime.

*WE NEED THEM*
Now when he was in Jerusalem at the passover, in the feast day, many believed in his name, when they saw the miracles which he performed.
_John 2:23_

It is not enough to say that we are Christians. We must win souls for Christ and we need miracles to get the job done. This is because supernatural happenings convince men that Christ lives and that He is real today. This is the truth. The Lord is still the same. We desperately need the supernatural today. You must pray more if everything in your life can happen in the lives of the unsaved. There has to be a visible difference.

As a believer, don't expect what befalls ordinary people to befall you. Believe God for a lifetime of power. This was why the Lord told His disciples to remain in Jerusalem until they received the power of the Holy Spirit. There cannot be effective Christian living without occurrences that are beyond the natural. Your strength, wisdom, understanding, knowledge and character must not be ordinary because you have Christ in you.

Think about what would have happened to Moses if he had shown up in Egypt without that God-empowered rod. We are sent as Moses was to lead men out of bo***ge, and we need the demonstration of the power of God. The greatest miracle is spiritual- when men get saved. The Lord is ready. He has always been, but are you willing to let Him prove Himself alive through you and around you?

A sister had a secret that moved thousands to the Lord whenever she had crusades. Months before the meetings, her team prayed a particular prayer, among others. They pleaded with the Lord to start each crusade with a notable miracle. He always did. Before anyone prayed, an undeniable healing would take place. When people saw the proofs, they went into their towns to call more people.

In your family, ask the Lord to do supernatural things. Whoever is unsaved will see it and know that the Lord is truly alive. The reason many young people do not seek the Lord wholeheartedly is that they have never seen His power in demonstration. Jesus transforms lives, breaks bad habits, delivers the oppressed.

Pray to see miracles upon miracles in your lifetime. Ask the Lord to work His wonders through you. No matter how tough things get in the world, God's people will enjoy His rest and peace. God did extraordinary miracles through Paul. May He do the same through you.

Whenever the Lord gives you an assignment, be sure that He has gone ahead of you. He is the One Who sends His servants on an errand and still goes with them to provide the needed backing. Remember, that He is the Lion of the tribe of Judah. Naturally, a lion does not need to be defended: just let him loose and he will be fine.

Many believers have been scared away from their God-given assignment because they are not sure that the Lord will be there with them. From Scriptures, any time the Ark of the Lord was with the children of Israel during battles, they were always confident of triumph. This should be your mentality if you are a child of God.

When you are in Christ, you don't need to live in fear. You only need to be bold in Him. This is because greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world (1 John 4:4). The enemy sees the One with you and is scared.

A brother told a beautiful story about how the Lord rescued him from the power of the enemy even when he did not know that there was a battle. His mother wanted him to return home from a foreign country just because he met the Lord and got born again. She hired a lawyer to sue her son's disciplers and a native doctor to call him back home. What happened was that the Lord arose in the most unexpected way and the two men failed woefully.

The Lord is behind you as you live for Him. He will never leave you nor forsake you. He is ever ready to roar against the enemy for your sake. Live right. Live in obedience to His Word. Live in the consciousness of His presence and move in faith. You will discover that He is behind you. May you experience divine defence in every area of your life.

Paul is a good example to all believers. He followed Jesus as closely as he could. He does not hesitate to tell us in 1 Corinthians 11:1 to follow him as he followed the Lord. Paul was not concerned about what people would say. It is clear that those who look at the reactions and opinions of human beings cannot go far in the things of the spirit.

Imagine what people would have thought and said about Peter, Andrew, James, and John. Some would have called them foolish men when they left their business to follow Jesus. Think about how stupid Abraham must have appeared to many when they heard that he did not know exactly where God was leading him. Put God first. Obey your Bible and leave men to talk. Soon, they will understand through your life that those who put their trust in the Lord will never be put to shame.

A brother was very sure that the Lord wanted him to pray for the sick. But, he made the mistake that threw him into an ocean of regret in his old age: He went to ask some ministers what they thought about the assignment and preferred their opinion to God's instruction. Those men knew nothing about the ministry of healing, so they told him that miracles ceased after the death of the last of the twelve apostles of Christ.

Be very careful. Don't try to advise anyone on an issue you know nothing about. When someone tells you that he or she has received an instruction from the Lord, mind what you say. Before you conclude that the Lord has told you something, be careful. People who understand spiritual issues will leave you alone once you tell them that the Lord spoke to you. Who is the wise one that will speak after the Lord has spoken? If you need counsel, say, 'I feel that the Lord is telling me so and so. Please pray with me for a clear instruction'. Trust the Lord to guide you using two or three witnesses.

What would you have told Moses if you had seen him approaching Pharoah's palace with nothing but a rod? God's ways are not man's. Beware of what you do with divine instructions. There are men like Jethro (Moses' Father-in-law) who will help you get the job done. They will never tell you things that will steal your peace or widen the gap between you and the Lord. If you are truly saved, don't listen to the remarks of men about your obedience to Christ. Focus on building a strong relationship with the Lord. May the opinions of men not dictate your directions in life.

*TWO IMPORTANT POINTS*
When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!
_Mark 10:47 NIV_

In our verse for today are two important lessons for us. The first is that we must be attentive no matter where we are. Be conscious of what is going on around you. Listen. What you hear can save you from danger. What you hear can change your story for good. Who knows what would have happened to the woman with the issue of blood if she had not heard about the Lord? Isn't it certain that she would have died? Make sure you stay alert. Don't, because of anything you are going through, switch off from your environment.

Secondly, do something with what you hear. Blind Bartmeaus heard that it was Jesus passing and he began to call on Him immediately. His action was what got him the change he desired. Many of the Lord's precious people would have had many testimonies if they had acted on the truth they heard years ago. Are you acting on the Word of God that you read and hear? Are you doing the things you know will help you in life?

Information is meant to bring transformation. Had the blind man remained silent or postponed his action, he would have lost a divine opportunity and probably died a beggar.

A young man desired to be very close to the general overseer of his church, but he couldn't get the opportunity. But, one day, the man of God preached a message and the young man heard it, went into society, won souls and took them to church. The minister saw the new comers and asked to know how they got to church. They mentioned that the young man had brought them and that was how the minister decided to disciple the young man. They ended up having 'a father and son relationship'.

Do something with the knowledge you have. Start with prayer. Cry unto the Lord for help. Blind Bartmeaus was a man of action who was crippled by blindness. We know this because after he received his sight, he followed Jesus in the way. May you hear and do the things that will change your level forever.

*REMAIN WHO YOU WERE*
And Samuel said, “When thou wast little in thine own sight, wast thou not made the head of the tribes of Israel, and the Lord anointed thee king over Israel?
_1 Samuel 15:17_

Following Jesus genuinely has a cost. There are things that must be left in order to follow Him wholeheartedly. No one can claim to be a true disciple without any record of sacrifice. If you want the Lord to use you and keep using you, don't stop serving Him with all your heart.

This is why it is so important for believers not to allow their progress in life to stop them from doggedly serving Jesus. It is common to see people using the excuse of what God has blessed them with to reduce their commitment to His service. This should not be. Your blessings and promotions should never hinder your allegiance to Christ.

A Christian brother did something that dazed the world many years ago. He got elected into the highest government office in his country and still continued to serve as a worker in his local church. He taught the Sunday School even after becoming the president of his nation. He was even quoted to have said that he would rather resign his appointed as a govenment official rather than stop serving Christ in his church. This is a great example of unwavering commitment to God.

Your upliftment must never push you to jettison your service to the Lord. Rather, serve the Lord more as He lifts you higher. This is what it means to faithfully follow Christ. Never allow the reason for your service in the Kingdom to be because you are not yet lifted. Do your best for the Lord always. Remain humble and grateful.
