— Psalm 147:3
MESSAGE
God’s saving work is comprehensive. Scripture presents Him not only as the One who forgives sin, but also as the One who restores the inner life. Redemption addresses our standing before God; healing addresses our condition within. Both are essential to spiritual maturity.
Psalm 147:3 reveals a God who does not overlook brokenness. He binds wounds intentionally, recognising that unhealed places often influence how people relate—to God and to others. Such wounds may not cancel faith, but they can limit clarity, peace, and fruitfulness if left unattended.
This truth is illustrated clearly in John 20:19–22. The disciples had encountered the risen Christ, yet fear still shaped their posture. Jesus did not immediately send them out. He first spoke peace and breathed the Holy Spirit upon them. This sequence matters. God restores inward stability before assigning outward responsibility. Wholeness precedes mission.
From a theological perspective, this reflects the Spirit’s work of sanctification—bringing the inner life into alignment with the reality of Christ’s finished work. Where healing occurs, fear loses influence, relationships become less reactive, and obedience flows from peace rather than pressure.
Such restoration also strengthens witness. Lives marked by inner coherence quietly reflect the truth of the gospel. People are often drawn not first to instruction, but to lives where faith, character, and conduct align.
Today’s invitation is to welcome God’s restoring work. As He heals the inner life, the life of Christ is expressed with greater integrity, stability, and grace.
