SUNDAY, OCTOBER 04, 2026

LET YOUR LIFE EDIFY OTHERS

KEY VERSE: "Let every one of us please his neighbour for his good to edification" - (ROMANS 15:2).

TEXT: ROMANS 15:1-4

We are often quick to jump to conclusions about the conduct of other people. We judge them by our own personal standards, sometimes made more stringent than Christ’s commands. This is on the misplaced assumption that it makes us better Christians than others. We do not exercise patience enough to truly appreciate that, although we may be all children of God, we are not all at the same level of maturity and that our experiences in life differ from person to person.

Apostle Paul, inspired by the Holy Spirit, was at this point moving away from theological to practical discussions. He sought to aggregate the quality of life expected of the believer. He listed guidelines that should govern how believers live and buttress their claim to being redeemed by Christ. He had earlier spoken about the need to make ourselves living sacrifices to God. He had urged believers to obey the rules set by the government for the good of the society. Now, he turned to the exhortation that we should love our neighbours and take care of fellow believers who seem weak in the faith or are not maturing at the same pace as others. We are urged to bear with this category of believers for the sake of their souls. More than that, we should endeavour to live to please others and not focus on ourselves. We are not to act in the obscene sense as men-pleasers but as helpers to those in genuine need of care and understanding. He recommended the life of Christ, which was dedicated to serving the purpose of sinful mankind.

Christ did not come to please Himself but lived in self-denial and self-sacrifice. By contrast, we are only encouraged to bear the failings of the weak among us. And the apostle reminds us that all things contained in the Scripture were meant to enlighten us on how best to live in this world and prepare us for the world to come. This is what gives us comfort and hope in this life.

We should always fight the temptation to focus on ourselves as we interact with other believers. Our goal should, at all times, be governed by the need to build up the body of Christ. We must never become so cold-hearted and oppressive as to always want to criticise others, as this could be damaging to their little faith and strength. Instead, we should, like Christ, positively help believers to grow in grace and in the knowledge of the Lord. Our knowledge of the Scripture should influence how we behave now and condition our aspirations for the future.

3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,

4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.

5 For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:

6 Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:

7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.

8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?

13 Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.

14 Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.

MESSAGE
One of the reasons I spent three years studying Elijah was that he was gloriously taken to heaven without having to taste death. If I could have my way, I also would prefer not to die but rather be raptured (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17). Ever since I have learnt of the rapture, my prayer every night before I sleep has been, "Lord. if You return before tomorrow, please don't leave me behind."

The realization that tomorrow may never come, and that the Lord may return before sunrise, has kept me on my toes since I surrendered my life to Jesus. He can even come this very night. It is clearly written in Luke 17:34 that two people will be on the same bed; one will be taken, and the other will be left behind. If Jesus returns tonight, will you be with Him in glory, or will you be left behind?

Today, I will discuss three out of six crucial things you should know about the Lord's second coming. The remaining three will be discussed tomorrow.

1. It is in two phases: The first phase is the rapture when Jesus descends from heaven to receive believers who have died and those who are still alive unto Himself (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17). The second phase is His glorious return, which all eyes shall behold (Revelation 1:7, Revelation 19:11-16).

2. It is imminent: Although it may seem delayed, Jesus will return soon. Ignore people who speak and act as if He will never return. Peter already spoke about them in today's Bible reading, how they will arise in the last days to challenge this truth. Sadly, many pastors have not preached about the Second Coming of Jesus Christ in years. Beloved, don't lose focus; keep in mind that Jesus' return is closer than you think. I know His coming seems to be delayed, but God's measurement of time is different from man's measurement, as today's Bible reading also tells us.

3. It is certain: Jesus' return is certain, and there is nothing anyone can do to change it. Today's Bible reading also tells us that the Lord is not slack concerning His promise. He has promised to return, and it is certain that He will (Acts 1:10-11).

In Matthew 24:4-51, Jesus gave us numerous signs of His coming, and one of the prominent signs is that many deceivers will arise and many will be deceived. I pray that you will not be deceived in any way, in Jesus name.

DIVINE ENCOUNTER MORNING PRAYERS

Topic: A FRESH ENCOUNTER WITH GOD

Text: Psalm 16:11 " Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore"

This morning, we come before the Lord with grateful hearts. Today is another opportunity to draw closer to God. May His presence become real and powerful in our lives. May every spiritual dryness give way to fresh fire. May our hearts be renewed and our faith strengthened. May God reveal Himself to us in a deeper dimension. May His presence bring healing, peace and restoration. May every burden become lighter in His presence. May our homes experience the atmosphere of heaven. And may this Sunday mark the beginning of a deeper walk with God, in Jesus’ name.

1. WORSHIP AND THANKSGIVING

Father, we worship You for who You are and thank You for Your faithfulness. Receive all the glory and honour, in Jesus’ name. Psalm 100:4

2. SALVATION OF SOULS

Lord Jesus, let Your saving power reach every unsaved soul. Draw hearts unto Yourself and let there be genuine repentance, in Jesus’ name. John 12:32

3. CLEANSING BY THE BLOOD

Father, let the blood of Jesus cleanse us from every sin and defilement. Create in us clean hearts and right spirits, in Jesus’ name. 1 John 1:7

4. GRACE FOR HOLY LIVING

Father, let me encounter You afresh today. Let Your presence transform my heart, my faith and my perspective, in Jesus’ name. Exodus 33:14

6. FRESH FIRE

Lord, rekindle the fire upon my altar. Remove spiritual coldness and give me fresh hunger for Your word and Your presence, in Jesus’ name. Leviticus 6:13

7. DIVINE DIRECTION

Father, order my steps and lead me in the path of Your perfect will. Let me not miss Your instructions, in Jesus’ name. Psalm 32:8

8. HEALING AND RESTORATION

Lord, stretch forth Your hand over every area of my life that needs healing and restoration. Let broken things receive Your touch, in Jesus’ name. Jeremiah 17:14

9. DELIVERANCE

Every yoke and bo***ge standing against my freedom, break by the power of God. Let me walk in the liberty Christ has given me, in Jesus’ name. Isaiah 10:27

10. DIVINE FAVOUR

Father, let Your favour surround me and my household. Cause us to experience unusual kindness and acceptance, in Jesus’ name. Psalm 5:12

11. FAMILY VISITATION

Lord, visit our homes with salvation, peace, unity, provision and good news. Let every family burden receive divine intervention, in Jesus’ name. Joshua 24:15

12. GRACE FOR THE NEW WEEK

Father, go before us into the coming week. Establish the work of our hands and make our efforts fruitful, in Jesus’ name. Psalm 90:17

13. SUNDAY TESTIMONY

Lord, let this Sunday produce a testimony that will glorify Your name. Let someone reading this prayer receive an unexpected answer today, in Jesus’ name. Psalm 126:3

THEME: DON'T HARDEN YOUR HEART

8 Harden not your heart, as in the provocation, and as in the day of temptation in the wilderness:
�9 When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my work.
�10 Forty years long was I grieved with this generation, and said, It is a people that do err in their heart, and they have not known my ways:
�11 Unto whom I sware in my wrath that they should not enter into my rest.

MESSAGE

There is great danger in hardening one's heart to the word of God. In Revelation 2:7, the Bible says, "He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches…" In today's world, many people are unwilling to listen to God's word, especially when it condemns their wrongdoings. They mock and neglect genuine men of God and despise God's ordinances. They are usually found in churches where sin is not condemned and where ungodly doctrines are taught. The Bible tells us that such people are at risk of eternal damnation if they refuse to heed His word (2 Thessalonians 2:10-12).

Many professing Christians pick only what favours them from God's word. However, what they do not know is that they cannot experience the fullness of God when they choose only what they want to hear from Him. In fact, many times, the things that position us for God's blessings are the things we do not want to hear or experience. It was the shame and the cross that positioned Jesus for glory (Hebrews 12:2). Also, in Joseph's case, it was the pit and the prison that positioned him for the palace.

Hebrews 4:12 tells us that the word of God is "quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow…" God's word convicts; it does not condemn. Whenever a fellow hears God's word and it pierces through his or her heart, such a person should not get offended. Instead, he or she should see it as an opportunity to be corrected and transformed.

Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. — Acts 2:37-38

In the Scripture above, Peter preached the gospel of Jesus Christ to some people in Jerusalem, and they were convicted in their hearts. Following their conviction, they became saved and were baptised (Acts 2:41). Beloved, when you hear God's word, do not harden your heart. Let His word convict, correct, and instruct you so that you will be thoroughly furnished unto all good works (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

Key Point:
Those who harden their hearts to God's word end up facing His wrath.

DAILY MANNA
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 03, 2026

SET FORWARD

KEY VERSE: "And the children of Israel set forward, and pitched in Oboth" - (NUMBERS 21:10).

TEXT: NUMBERS 21:10-20

Boxing is one game that many decent minds disagree should be rightly called a sport. The deliberate inflicting of injuries on one another in the quest for praise or payment can only appeal to the beastly instinct in man. But there is one lesson professional boxers are taught which is valuable for us all. They are taught not to retreat but to move forward when in the ring.

In our text, it was said of the children of Israel that they ‘set forward…’ The significance of the statement becomes clearer when it is recalled that they had just suffered a serious setback in their progress towards the Promised Land. In their weariness as they marched from Mount Hor by the way of the Red Sea, they murmured against God and Moses, discrediting the gracious provision of manna that the Lord made for them. The righteous judgement of God came upon them for this. Fiery serpents got in their midst and bit many to death. Upon their repentance and Moses’ intercession, the Lord pardoned them and initiated the remedy of the brazen serpent, on which if any victim of the snake bite looked, he was cured.

At this juncture in their journey, they probably would have felt reluctant to move on, at least for the time being. But they set forward! Forward is upward and is the secret of success in every sphere of life. Apostle Paul was conscious of this when he wrote: ‘I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus’ (Philippians 3:13,14). Their recall of God’s past goodness at this instance and their songs of victory indicate they made the most of the divine discipline.

Have you faced a setback recently? Are you tempted to give up because of what you see as unfair treatment? Are past experiences weighing you down? Are you losing motivation for the race? Take a cue from Israel: look up and press on.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Whatever you’ve got, whatever you’ve lost, the real trophy is ahead – press forward!
