LISTEN 👂 you were to ask ten random people to define what love is, you would most likely receive ten different definitions. We often define love by what we value or enjoy the most. But with so many different definitions of love that are often contradictory, Jesus' followers should desire the truth. A true definition of love doesn't come from culture, our own values, or from within ourselves—it comes from God, because "God is love" (1 John 4:8). So, any right understanding of love must come from God. 1 Corinthians 13 is entirely devoted to defining what love is.
1 Corinthians 13:6 says love "does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth." Evil is anything opposed to God or His ways.

When we disobey God's law, choose to do the wrong thing, or cause harm to someone else-that is evil. Essentially, evil is when we fail to love God and love others. For instance, if someone difficult does not know the love of Jesus, we shouldn't delight in that. Love should lead us toward sharing the truth about Jesus with them.
Or, if someone who hurts you is suffering, we shouldn't rejoice over their pain. Instead we should forgive them, just as God forgave us. Love rejoices in God's truth being told, lived, and shared. So take some time today to consider how your own definition of love is different from God's definition. What misunderstandings do you have? Also, what actions or thoughts can you change to be more loving? Most importantly, who can you share the truth of God's love with? Make a list of two or three people you can pray for and talk to about God and His love..

👂 have a powerful Creator, but it's easy to forget how magnificent He is. We live in a world filled with His miracles, but it's common to become desensitized to the wonder of it all. God created something from nothing— speaking life, meaning, and purpose into existence. He is the author of everything. He is worthy of our worship.
Whales roam the seas, bears scavenge the mountaintops, fireflies light up the countryside. People explore the world, build skyscrapers, cook meals, develop languages, and form complex relationships
with God and with each other.

"You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being."
Revelation 4:11 "All things," as the verse says, includes everything we can see and even the things we can't-both the visible and invisible. "All things" also includes you.
You were intentionally and uniquely designed by God.

You were put on this planet on purpose-at this specific time in history. You have been empowered to shine and share His love, in a distinct and special way that's completely unique to you. So take a moment to recognize, God made you and He loves you. He is worthy of your praise.

⚓️✝️🛐🤲 , ABOUT SCRIPTURE { }.
👂 a teenager, David was anointed as the next king of Israel. But instead of ascending to the throne in a blaze of glory, he spent years running from Israel's current king (his father-in-law) who repeatedly tried to kill him. During this time, David laments to God: he has honest conversations about his situation while holding onto the hope that God can—and will-restore him. Psalm 59 is the result of one of those conversations. David's laments allowed him to express his grief, cry out for justice, and remember God's faithfulness. Focusing on God's faithfulness reminded David of God's character, and knowing God's character helped him hold onto hope.

That's why he could say, "But I will sing of your strength, in the morning I will sing of your love; for you are my fortress, my refuge in times of trouble." (Psalm 59:16 )
Talking honestly with God helped David recognize that even though his current situation wasn't good, God was still good, and still worthy of being worshiped. David believed that God was still in control, and that he would one day see the fulfillment of God's promises. And one day, God's promises did come to pass. But God didn't waste the years David spent as a fugitive: instead, He used them to help David become the leader and warrior Israel needed. The setbacks David endured actually strengthened his character and prepared him for his future purpose. Although his circumstances were painful, God was faithful. And God can—and will—be faithful with your life.

When you place your hope in Jesus, you never grieve in vain because the God who is now is also the God who will be forever.
And He is constantly advocating and acting on your behalf. That's why, no matter what you face, you can hold onto this hope: Jesus can turn your setbacks and sorrows into setups for your good and His glory.
God can take your pain and use it for His purposes. He can make a way through your desert seasons. He is your source of strength and your refuge in times of trouble. Nothing is impossible for God.
So today, continue to draw closer to Him, and look for evidence of His faithfulness.
As you intentionally pursue God, look for ways to worship Him like David did.

⚓️✝️🛐🤲 , ABOUT SCRIPTURE { }.
👂 his excellent book The Peacemaker (which was hugely influential in my writing of this devotional plan), author Ken Sande defines conflict as "a difference in opinion or purpose that frustrates someone's goals or desires."
With that definition as our guide, it's easy to see that "conflict" is everywhere in our work. But the command to make peace is everywhere in God's Word. After declaring "Blessed are the peacemakers," Jesus went on to dedicate huge portions of the Sermon on the Mount to the art of resolving conflict (see Matthew 5:21-26, 38-41, 43-48, 6:14, and 7:1-5). Commenting on that sermon, pastor Tony Merida says,
"Clearly being a peacemaker is a big deal to Jesus!"

It was also a big deal to Jesus's followers. As Ken Sande points out, "every Epistle in the New Testament contains a command to live at peace with one another." Take 1 Peter 3:11 as just one example. Peter says believers "must seek peace and pursue it."
I am not a natural peacemaker. And I'm willing to bet that you'd admit the same. So, what will compel us to pursue peace per Christ's command? That brings me to the first biblical principle for resolving conflict at work.Principle #1: Praise the Prince of Peace for the grace and mercy he has shown you. You and I were once God's enemies (see Romans 5:10). But "since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ" (see Romans 5:1). And staring at the peace Christ has secured for us is the key to sharing peace with others (see Matthew 18:21-35). What does it look like practically to stare at the peace we've been given?

Here are three ideas.
First, get on your knees and remember what God has saved you from. One of my closest friends starts every day this way as a means of praising the Prince of Peace.
Second, add a time of confession to your quiet time routine. Why? Because as Paul David Tripp points out, "No one gives grace better than [the onel who humbly admits that he desperately needs it himself."
Finally, breathe in grace and mercy.
Christians ought to be people who"breathe grace" in conflict. But "we cannot breathe out what we have not breathed in." So, try this physical practice. Literally exhale slowly as you confess your sins. Then breathe in slowly as a means of physically representing the life-giving peace that Christ secured on your behalf at Calvary.

the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:7

⚓️✝️🛐🤲 , ABOUT SCRIPTURE { }.
👂 wants peace. In the world, in our homes, and in our hearts. In difficult times, we seek comfort. In heartbreaking moments, we want a peace that remains steady despite the circumstances. The Bible teaches about this kind of peace. Philippians 4:7 describes the peace of God. No amount of self-talk or meditation can manufacture this kind of peace-it only can come from God Himself. Preacher and theologian Charles Spurgeon described this kind of peace as the perfect calm and happiness of God, who is always content. This peace transcends all understanding.

It's the idea that something goes beyond our normal way of thinking. That is a beautiful description of what God's peace does. It exceeds our understanding and surpasses anything we could expect or imagine. It also guards and protects our hearts and minds. How do we get this kind of peace? The surrounding verses in Philippians offer guidance. Philippians 4:6 tells us to take every anxious thought and turn it into a prayer. One way to visualize this is to clench your first as an image of it being filled with worry. Now, lift and open your hand, palms up, in prayer as a symbol of releasing your burdens to God.
Philippians 4:8 tells us to be intentional and think about what is true, lovely, and pure. Sometimes, that's easy. But in moments of chaos and uncertainty, it can be much more difficult. With God's help, you can intentionally and purposefully choose to think about what is true.

God's peace has roots in His unchanging character and it's not dependent on our circumstances. When anxiety rises, may we choose to trust in the One who offers a
peace that surpasses our understanding.
Today, let's bring our worries to Him in prayer and fix our thoughts on what is true, lovely, and pure. His peace will guard our hearts and minds. This is living according to what He promises.

👂 are some things that shouldn't surprise us, Winter blooming to life each spring. The sun rising every morning. Our ongoing need for food, water, air, and rest. Change being an essential part of life. Likewise, there's no escaping the fact that life is messy and full of. trouble. This beautiful world is fractured. But, despite this, Jesus offers us hope:
"I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world." John 16:33
What "things" had Jesus just told His disciples?

He was honest about the grief and pain they'd endure but also about the future joy they'd experience. He was preparing their hearts for His death and their persecution but also for His resurrection and their salvation. Jesus' encouragement to His disciples is also an encouragement to us...
We shouldn't be surprised that this world is full of challenges—but Jesus is bigger than it all. Following God doesn't automatically erase the pain of the world—at least not yet. We still have injustice and evil to fight.

But God has not left us to our own devices. We have not been abandoned to ourselves.
We can trust in Him wholeheartedly as we wait for His return. So, as you think about the trouble in your life—whether it's your health, relationships, finances, or other difficulties remember, You can still have peace, you can still take heart, and you can still be comforted because Jesus Christ has already overcome the world!
