PRAYING IN THE SPIRIT
Matthew 15:8 This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. 15:9 But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
MESSAGE
The mind of God is crystal clear in the passage above. Many a times, we come to God with petitions; prayer requests, but the truth is, in most cases only our mouth is mumbling words of prayers, our hearts; the contents therein are quite different from what our mouth is mumbling in prayers. Such request only appear to God as vanity. Hence, "in vain they do worship me"
Praying in the spirit goes beyond speaking in tongues, it is not until you speak in tongues before you pray in the spirit.
Praying in the spirit is when your heart prays much more than your mouth. A situation where the content of your heart is same with the words coming out of your mouth. For example; you're asking God for the blessing of a Car, your mouth is saying, Oh God, give me a car, but your heart is saying, oh God give me a car so I can brag around my neighborhood with pride. Such a prayer will not be answered by God, because the content of your heart is completely opposite to the words of your mouth.
Consider this point greatly, how often does your heart prays each time you appear before God? Remember we started with John 4vs23-24, God is still looking for those who'll worship Him in spirit and in truth, for any other worship outside this are mere vanity.
