FOLLOW THE WISE, AND YOU WILL BECOME WISE
The people you consistently follow, listen to, and allow to influence your life will eventually influence the person you become.
The Bible says:
βHe that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.β β Proverbs 13:20
You cannot walk closely with wisdom and remain the same.
If you surround yourself with people who think deeply, you will learn to think deeply.
If you surround yourself with people who fear God, you will learn to value God.
If you surround yourself with people who are disciplined, focused, humble, and purposeful, their lifestyle will challenge you to grow.
But the opposite is also true.
Be careful who you call your friends. Be careful whose advice you constantly receive. Be careful who you admire and whose lifestyle you are trying to copy.
Not everyone who is popular is wise. Not everyone who speaks confidently has understanding. Not everyone who smiles with you has the capacity to take you where God is taking you.
Sometimes, your next level is connected to your ability to recognize wise people and learn from them.
A wise person does not only look for people who can entertain them; they look for people who can add value, correct them, challenge them, teach them, and help them become better.
You don't have to be the wisest person in the room.
Be humble enough to learn from the wisest person in the room.
And remember this:
Your association is shaping your direction.
Your conversations are shaping your thinking.
Your mentors are shaping your decisions.
And your decisions are shaping your future.
Choose your circle wisely.
Walk with people who are going somewhere.
Learn from people who have character.
Listen to people who have wisdom.
Stay close to people who genuinely want to see you become better.
Follow the wise, and you will become wise.
May God give you the wisdom to recognize the right people, the humility to learn from them, and the discernment to know who should not have access to your destiny.
Amen. π
