EASTER MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT OF CLASFON
DATE: 03 APRIL 2026
TO: All Members of CLASFON Worldwide.
My Lords, Learned Senior Advocates, Distinguished Colleagues, and indeed all beloved Brethren in Christ,
Grace, mercy and peace be multiplied unto you through our Lord Jesus Christ, in this most sacred and defining season of Easter. This season remains one of the most profound pillars upon which the entire Christian faith rests. It is not merely a commemoration; it is the very foundation and bedrock of our redemption story. From ages past, Scripture foretold the sacrificial mission of Christ. As declared in Isaiah 53:5, “He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities… and by His stripes we are healed.” The life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ were not accidental occurrences, but divinely orchestrated events, meticulously designed for the salvation of mankind.
It is a truth both incontrovertible and unparalleled that Jesus Christ stands alone in the annals of history as the One who died and, by His own sovereign authority, rose again. As He Himself declared in John 10:18, “No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again.” Every machination of darkness, every stratagem of the enemy to keep Him bound in the grave, was utterly dismantled. Death could not hold Him captive. The grave could not silence Him. As proclaimed in Acts 2:24, “Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was not possible that He should be holden of it.” This is the victory that defines our faith.
Upon His resurrection, our Lord made a defining and authoritative proclamation that continues to echo through eternity: “All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth” (Matthew 28:18). This declaration is not merely theological; it is existential and practical. It is the basis of our confidence, the anchor of our hope, and the assurance of our victory. Scripture further affirms in Philippians 2:9–11 that God has highly exalted Him, giving Him a Name above every name, that at the mention of the Name of Jesus, every knee must bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. It is upon this unassailable truth that we, as members of the Christian Lawyers Fellowship of Nigeria, boldly affirm our 2026 Theme: “Thine is the Power” (Matthew 6:13).
Beloved colleagues, the resurrection is not merely an event to be admired; it is a reality to be lived. It assures us of eternal life, as our Lord declared in John 11:25, “I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live.” The post-resurrection appearances of Christ, His fellowship with the brethren, and His glorious ascension into heaven all serve as compelling evidence of this truth. As legal practitioners, trained to rely on evidence, logic, and proof, we find in the resurrection the most compelling and incontrovertible testimony ever presented to humanity. Indeed, as the Apostle Paul asserts in 1 Corinthians 15:17, “If Christ be not raised, your faith is vain.” But thanks be to God, He is risen indeed!
Therefore, as Christian Lawyers, Easter must provoke in us deep reflection and renewed commitment. The Cross speaks of sacrifice, the Resurrection proclaims victory, and together they impose upon us a sacred duty. We are called not only to believe but to represent Christ in the legal profession with integrity, righteousness, and courage. Our mandate, as encapsulated in the CLASFON vision, is to enthrone a New Legal Profession anchored on Christ. This calls for a life of advocacy beyond the courtroom, a life that proclaims the Gospel through conduct, character, and conviction. As aptly stated by Charles Spurgeon, “The resurrection is the cornerstone of the entire building of Christianity. It is the keystone of the arch of our salvation.”
In this season, therefore, I urge us all to hold fast to our faith, to our calling, and to our convictions. Let us not be weary in well-doing, for in due season we shall reap if we faint not (Galatians 6:9). Let us remember always that Christ is the reason for the season, and that His finished work on the Cross is the ultimate testament of divine love and power. As we celebrate, may the power of His resurrection be made manifest in every aspect of our lives and practice. May we rise above compromise, above fear, and above mediocrity, standing as true ambassadors of Christ in the legal profession.
Happy Easter, beloved CLASFONites.
