TODAY'S DEVOTION

SCRIPTURAL PASSAGES: Num. 35:9-36:1-13, Pro.31, Luke 5:17-39.

FOCUS: Num. 35:9-36:1-13.

MESSAGE TITLE: Protecting The Presence of God.

TEXT: Numbers 35:34 “Defile not therefore the land which ye shall inhabit, wherein I dwell: for I the Lord dwell among the children of Israel.”

One of the greatest treasures a person, a church or a generation can have is the presence of God. Gold cannot replace it. Power cannot substitute for it. Talent, beauty, education and wealth are all empty without the presence of God.
In our text today, Number 35:34, God was giving instructions to the children of Israel concerning holiness, justice and the sanctity of the land where they lived. God reminded them that the land was not ordinary because His presence dwelt there. The Israelites were warned not to defile the land through: bloodshed, sin, corruption and uncleanness because God’s dwelling place must remain holy. Today, we are now God’s dwelling place and we must protect the atmosphere that carries God’s presence. " Know ye not that ye are the temple of God? 1 Cor. 3:16.

WHAT PROTECTING THE PRESENCE OF GOD MEANS.

Protecting the presence of God means consciously preserving a life, heart and atmosphere that honours God so that His Spirit can continually dwell, move and manifest without hindrance. “Grieve not the Holy Spirit of God…” Eph. 4:30.

KEY LESSONS FOR TODAY.

1. God's Presence Requires Holiness. God’s presence does not comfortably remain in an atmosphere of continual sin, compromise and defilement. God is holy and anything that will continually host His presence must pursue holiness. “Be ye holy; for I am holy.” 1 Pet. 1:16.

2. God's Presence Must be Valued. What you do not value, you will eventually lose. God’s presence was more important than wealth, position or earthly success. After David sinned, he said “Take not thy Holy Spirit from me.” Ps. 51:11. Make time daily for God’s presence and do not allow worldly pursuits to replace intimacy with God

3. Disobedience Can Drive Away God's Presence. Persistent disobedience grieves the Holy Spirit and gradually separates people from God’s presence. God speaks through His Word, conviction, and the Holy Spirit, but when a person continually resists Him, spiritual decline begins. Example King Saul “To obey is better than sacrifice…” 1 Sam. 15:22.

4. God's Presence Brings Transformation and Power. Where God’s presence genuinely dwells, lives cannot remain the same. God’s presence transforms character, breaks bo***ge, restores broken lives and releases spiritual power. “In thy presence is fullness of joy…” Ps. 16:11.

WAYS TO PROTECT THE PRESENCE OF GOD

✓ Live a Life of Holiness. If you truly want to protect the presence of God in your life, you must intentionally pursue holiness. “Let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit…” 2 Cor. 7:1.

✓ Maintain a Strong Prayer Life. Prayer is one of the greatest ways to preserve intimacy with God. “Men ought always to pray, and not to faint.” Luke 18:1.

✓ Study and Obey God's Word. God’s presence is sustained where His Word is honoured and obeyed. “Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.” John 15:3.

✓ Avoid Spiritual Carelessness. Spiritual carelessness gradually destroys sensitivity to God’s presence. “Because thou art lukewarm… I will spue thee out of my mouth.” Rev. 3:15-16.

THE DANGER OF LOSING GOD'S PRESENCE.

✓ Spiritual Emptiness.“Woe also to them when I depart from them!” Hos. 9:12

✓ Loss of Direction.

✓ Defeat and Weakness.

✓ Lack of Peace.1 Sam. 16:14.

✓ Vulnerability to the Enemy.

Beloved, protect the presence of God in your life at all costs. Do not trade His presence for temporary pleasure, hidden sin, worldly compromise or spiritual carelessness. The greatest loss in life is not money, position or fame, it is losing the presence of God. And if you are still living in sin, understand this clearly: sin separates people from God’s presence. God is calling you today to repentance, holiness and genuine surrender. Do not continue in a lifestyle that pushes God away from your life.
May your life carry His glory, preserve His presence and reflect His holiness until the end, in Jesus' name.

SCRIPTURAL PASSAGES: Num. 30&31, Pro. 26:13-27:1-27, Luke 3.

MESSAGE TITLE: The Tragedy of Not Bearing Good Fruit.

TEXT: Luke 3:9 “And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: every tree therefore which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.”

One of the greatest purposes of every tree is to bear fruit. A tree may look beautiful outwardly, but if it produces no fruit, it loses its value. In the same way, God did not save us merely to exist in Christianity, He saved us to produce spiritual fruit that glorifies Him.
In our text today, Luke 3:9, John the Baptist warned the people during his preaching on repentance that God expected genuine spiritual fruit and not mere religious identity or outward appearance, declaring that every unfruitful life was in danger of judgment.

WHAT THE TRAGEDY OF NOT BEARING GOOD FRUIT MEANS

The tragedy of not bearing good fruit is the painful condition of claiming to belong to God while failing to produce the fruits of repentance, righteousness, obedience and spiritual transformation, thereby exposing oneself to divine rejection and judgment despite having the opportunity to live a fruitful life in Christ.

KEY LESSONS FOR TODAY.

1. God Expects Fruitfulness From Every Believer. “Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit…” John 15:8. God never saved anyone to remain spiritually barren or unproductive. Every believer is expected to grow spiritually and produce fruits that reflect genuine transformation. God expects spiritual growth from your life.

2. Fruitlessness Can Lead to Divine Rejection. “Every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down…” Luke 3:9. God is merciful and patient but continuous fruitlessness is dangerous. A believer who continually resists growth, refuses repentance and remains spiritually barren places himself in danger of divine rejection.

3. Good Fruit Comes From A Right Heart. “A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth good…” Luke 6:45. Good fruit does not begin outwardly, it begins inwardly. A corrupt heart cannot consistently produce righteous living. Whatever fills the heart eventually appears in words, actions and behaviour.

4. True Fruitfulness Requires Abiding in Christ. “Without me ye can do nothing.” John 15:5. Spiritual fruit cannot be produced by human effort alone. True fruitfulness comes from remaining connected to Jesus Christ. Just as a branch cannot survive without connection to the vine, you cannot produce lasting spiritual fruit without intimacy with Christ.

THE FRUIT EXPECTED OF YOU TO BEAR.

✓ The Fruit Of Repentance. “Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance.” Luke 3:8. True repentance is more than saying, “I am sorry.” Genuine repentance produces visible change in attitude, behavior and lifestyle.

✓ The Fruit of Christlike Character. “The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace…” Gal. 5:22-23. God expects you to reflect the character of Christ in daily living.

✓ The Fruit of Good Works. “Created in Christ Jesus unto good works…” Eph. 2:10. You are expected to positively impact others through acts of love, kindness, service and compassion.

✓ The Fruit of Soul Winning. “I have chosen you… that ye should go and bring forth fruit.” John 15:16. God expects you to participate in bringing others to Christ.

THE TRAGEDY OF FAILURE TO BEAR GOOD FRUIT

✓ Loss of Divine Approval. A fruitless believer cannot fully please God.

✓ Spiritual Stagnation . Fruitlessness leads to dryness and weakness. Jude 1:12.

✓ Negative Influence on Others. When believers lack fruit, unbelievers become discouraged about Christianity.

✓ Danger of Judgement “…cast into the fire.” Luke 3:9.

HOW TO BEAR GOOD FRUIT.

✓ Turn away sincerely from sin. Acts 3:19.

✓ Abide in Christ. John 15:4.

✓ Walk in The Holy Spirit. Gal. 5:16.

✓ Obey God's Word. Jam. 1:22.

✓ Allow God to Prune You. John 15:2.

Beloved, God did not save you merely to carry the name “Christian.” He saved you to bear fruit that reflects His nature and glory. Examine your life today, are you truly producing fruits of righteousness, holiness, love and obedience? The Lord is still looking for fruitful believers. And if you are still living in sin, hear this warning clearly: a life without Christ may appear enjoyable for a season, but it ends in destruction. God is calling you today to repentance before it is too late. The axe is already laid at the root of the tree. This is the time to turn to Jesus, surrender your life fully to Him and begin to bear fruit worthy of repentance.
May the Lord grant you grace to bear the good fruit expected of you, so that you will not fall into tragedy, in Jesus’ name.

MESSAGE TITLE: Do Not Envy Sinners.

TEXT: Proverbs 23:17 “Let not thine heart envy sinners: but be thou in the fear of the Lord all the day long.”

One of the greatest traps of the enemy in this generation is the temptation to compare your life with people who do not fear God.
In our text today, Prov. 23:17, we discovered that King Solomon wrote the book of Proverbs to give wisdom and instruction for righteous living. In this chapter, he was addressing the danger of allowing the heart to become attracted to the prosperity and apparent success of sinful people. He said “Let not thine heart envy sinners…”

WHO SINNERS ARE

Sinners are people who knowingly live in rebellion against God and continue in lifestyles contrary to His will. They reject God’s authority and live according to fleshly desires. Rom. 3:23

KEY LESSONS FOR TODAY.

1. Appearance Can be Deception. Many sinners appear successful outwardly but inwardly they are empty, restless and spiritually lost. What looks attractive on the outside may be hiding pain, fear, bo***ge and destruction within. That is why you must not judge life only by visible success. “There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.” Pro. 14:12.

2. Sin has a Temporary Pleasure but a Painful End. Heb. 11:25. Sin often appears attractive because it offers temporary pleasure, quick gain or easy satisfaction. But every sinful pleasure has an end and that end is usually pain, regret, bo***ge or destruction.

3. Righteousness Always has a Reward. “Say ye to the righteous, that it shall be well with him.” Isa. 3:10. Righteousness may sometimes seem difficult or costly but God never ignores faithfulness. The reward of holiness may not come immediately, but it will surely come.

4. Envy Can Destroy Your Spiritual Life. Envy is dangerous because it shifts your focus away from God and fills your heart with dissatisfaction. When you continually compare yourself with sinners, it can produce bitterness and spiritual weakness. “For where envying and strife is, there is confusion…” Jam. 3:16.

DANGERS OF ENVYING SINNERS.

✓ It Can Lead to Compromise. When you envy sinners long enough, you may begin to imitate them. “Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners.” 1 Cor. 15:33.

✓ It Weakens Your Faith. Envy makes people question God’s goodness.

✓ It Can Pull You Away From God. Some people abandon holiness because they feel righteousness is not “paying.” “What shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?” Mark 8:36.

✓ It Makes You Ignore the End of the Wicked. The prosperity of sinners is temporary. “Surely thou didst set them in slippery places…” Ps. 73:18.

WHAT YOU SHOULD DO INSTEAD OF ENVYING SINNERS.

✓ Walk in the Fear of God. “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.” Prov. 9:10.

✓ Trust God's Process. “Though it tarry, wait for it…” Hab. 2:3. Remember that God’s timing is always perfect.

✓ Focus on Eternal Reward. “For surely there is an end; and thine expectation shall not be cut off.” Prov. 23:18. The prosperity of sinners is temporary but the reward of righteousness is eternal.

Beloved, do not allow the temporary success of sinners to weaken your commitment to God. Stay faithful and continue in the fear of the Lord. Your reward is coming and your end shall be peace. What God has prepared for you is far greater than the temporary pleasures of sin. And if you are still living in sin, hear this clearly: the lifestyle you are enjoying today cannot save you tomorrow. Wealth without God is empty, pleasure without righteousness is dangerous and success without salvation is destruction in disguise. Turn to Jesus now while mercy is still available. May the Lord grant you the grace to reverence Him and keep your heart from envying sinners.

REMAIN BLESSED.

TODAY'S DEVOTION

SCRIPTURAL PASSAGES: Num. 18, Pro.15, Jam. 1.

FOCUS: Number 18.

MESSAGE TITLE: Making God Your Portion.

TEXT: Numbers 18:20 (NKJV)" Then the LORD said to Aaron: You shall have no inheritance in their land, nor shall you have any portion among them; I am your portion and your inheritance among the children of Israel.

Life is full of pursuits. People are chasing money, success, fame, connections and material possessions. But the truth is this: anything outside God will eventually fail to satisfy the soul.
In our text today, Num. 18:20, we discovered that in Israel, every tribe received land as inheritance except the tribe of Levi. While others were given territories, possessions and material inheritance, God spoke to Aaron and the Levites and said: “I am your portion and your inheritance.” This meant that while others depended on land, the Levites would depend directly on God.

WHAT MAKING GOD YOUR PORTION MEANS
Making God your portion means a deliberate and total surrender of your heart where you choose God as your highest treasure, your only source and your ultimate satisfaction above all things in life. Lam 3:24 “The LORD is my portion, saith my soul…”

KEY LESSONS FOR TODAY.

1. What You Choose as Your Portion Determines Your Life. Mat. 6:21 “For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” What you choose as your portion will shape your desires, decisions and ultimately your destiny. Your heart always follows what you value most. If your portion is money, your life will revolve around it. If your portion is pleasure, your life will chase it. But if God is your portion, your life will be aligned with His will.

2. Earthly Possessions Cannot Replace God. Mark 8:36 “For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?”. Earthly possessions are temporary. They may bring comfort, but they cannot bring salvation. They may give pleasure, but they cannot give peace with God. No amount of wealth, success or achievement can replace God in your life.

3. God Alone Can Truly Satisfy the Soul. John 4:14 “…whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst…” There is a deep emptiness in the human soul that nothing in this world can fill except God. People try to satisfy this emptiness with relationships, achievements, entertainment and possessions but the thirst remains. Only God can bring lasting satisfaction.

4. Choosing God Requires Sacrifice. Luke 14:33. Making God your portion is not casual, it requires sacrifice. You cannot hold onto everything and still fully follow God. There must be a willingness to let go of anything that competes with Him.

WHAT GOD HAS CHOSEN FOR YOU AS YOUR PORTION TODAY

✓ Himself (His Presence). Exd 33:14 “My presence shall go with thee…”

✓ His Salvation. Ps 27:1 “The LORD is my salvation…”

✓ His Word. Ps 119:111 “Thy testimonies have I taken as an heritage…” God’s Word is your spiritual inheritance.

✓ His Spirit. Rom. 8:9. God gives His Spirit to dwell in you, to guide you, teach you and empower you to live a godly life.

✓ Eternal Life. John 17:3 “This is life eternal, that they might know thee…”

THINGS GOD WANTS YOU TO POSSESS AS YOU MAKE HIM YOUR PORTION.

✓ A Heart That Seeks Him. Jer. 29:13 . God wants your heart not just your activity.

✓ A Life of Holiness. 1 Pet. 1:15–16. You cannot claim God as your portion while living in sin.

✓ Faith and Dependence on Him. Heb. 11:6. God must become your source not your last option.

✓ Obedience to His Word. John 14:15. True love for God is shown through obedience.

HOW TO MAKE GOD YOUR PORTION

✓ Repent and Turn from Sin. Acts 3:19.

✓ Desire God Above All Things. Ps. 73:25

✓ Spend Time with God Daily. Jam. 4:8.

✓ Trust God Completely. Pro. 3:5–6.

REWARDS OF MAKING GOD YOUR PORTION.

✓ True Satisfaction. Ps. 107:9

✓ Divine Provision. Phil. 4:19.

✓ Peace and Security. Isa. 26:3.

✓ Eternal Inheritance. 1 Pet. 1:4.

Beloved, God is calling you away from every false satisfaction to Himself alone: “I am your portion and your inheritance.” If you are still living in sin, you are settling for what cannot satisfy. Sin will promise much but leave you empty. Today, turn back to God through Jesus Christ, He alone can truly fill your life and give you a lasting inheritance. If you are a believer, do not divide your heart. Don’t replace God with comfort, success or distractions. If God is your portion, then He is enough in every season, hold on to Him, trust Him and stay faithful. So today, choose wisely: let go of everything that competes with God and embrace Him as your only true portion. As you make God your portion today, may He satisfy you with all good things your heart desires, in Jesus' name.

HAVE A JOYFUL DAY.

TODAY'S DEVOTION

SCRIPTURAL PASSAGES: Num. 16:1-40, Pro.13, 2 Peter 2.

FOCUS: 2 Peter 2

MESSAGE TITLE: The Two Sides of God: Mercy and Justice.

TEXT: 2 Peter 2:9 “The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished.”

Many people today prefer to hear only one side of God the side of love, mercy and blessings. But the truth of Scripture reveals that God has two sides that must be understood together.
In our text today, 2 Peter 2: 9, the Apostle Peter warns about false teachers and ungodly living. He reminds believers that God has always dealt with humanity in two ways: God delivers the righteous and He judges the unrighteous

WHAT THE TWO SIDES OF GOD MEANS

The two sides of God means the perfect balance of His divine nature in which He simultaneously acts as a merciful Deliverer to the godly and a righteous Judge to the ungodly, ensuring that those who trust Him are rescued from temptation and preserved, while those who persist in wickedness are held accountable and reserved for judgment according to His holiness and justice.

KEY LESSONS FOR TODAY.

1. God’s Mercy Is Real But It Is Not an Excuse to Continue in Sin. One of the greatest misunderstandings today is the abuse of God’s mercy. Many people hear that God is merciful and conclude that sin does not matter. But God’s mercy is meant to lead you to repentance, not to give you permission to remain in sin. Rom. 2:4

2. God Knows How to Deliver You, No Matter the Temptation. “…The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations…” Whatever temptation you are facing right now, God is not confused about it. Temptation is not the problem, remaining in it without seeking God is the problem.

3. Judgment Is Certain for Those Who Remain Unrepentant. “…to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished.” God does not overlook sin forever. There is a day of judgment, and it is certain. Eccl. 12:14 “For God shall bring every work into judgment…”

4 . Your Choice Determines Which Side of God You Experience. God does not change but your response determines how you experience Him.God’s nature is fixed, but your destiny is decided by your choice. Deut. 30:19 “…I have set before you life and death, therefore choose life…”

HOW GOD COMMUNICATES HIS TWO SIDES—MERCY AND JUDGMENT

✓ Through His Word — The Clear Revelation of God's Heart. 2 Tim. 3:16. The first and most authoritative way God reveals His mercy and justice is through His Word.

✓ Through Biblical Examples — God's History of Dealing With Man. 1 Cor. 10:11. God does not only speak in words, He speaks through history. The Bible records real events to teach eternal lessons.

✓ Through The Conviction of the Holy Spirit — God Speaking Inside Man. John 16:8. The Holy Spirit is God’s internal voice in the heart of man. While the Word speaks externally, the Spirit speaks internally.

✓ Through Life Experience — God Speaking Through Circumstances. Sometimes God does not only speak through Scripture or inner conviction, He speaks through events in life.

PRACTICAL STEPS TO EXPERIENCE DELIVERANCE (NOT JUDGMENT)

✓ Repent of Sin. Acts 3:19.Turn away from sin completely.

✓ Live a Godly Life. Titus 2:11–12. God delivers the godly not the careless.

✓ Depend on God in Temptation 1 Cor. 10:13. God always provides a way of escape.

✓ Stay in Fellowship with God. Jam. 4:8. A close relationship with God keeps you spiritually strong.

Beloved, hear the Word of the Lord, God has two perfect sides, He delivers the godly and He judges the ungodly. If you are living for God, take courage and be strengthened. Your trials are not your end and your struggles are not your defeat. The Lord knows how to deliver you. He sees your faithfulness, He will preserve you in temptation and He will surely bring you out in victory. Do not give up, do not compromise and do not fear your God is working for your deliverance. But if you are still living in sin, this is your wake-up call. Do not mistake God’s patience for approval. Do not assume that delay means absence of judgment. The same God who is merciful is also just and a day of accountability is coming. Turn from your sins now, before it is too late and run to Jesus while mercy is still available. May God grant you grace to surrender completely to Him, so that you may continually experience His mercy and not His judgment, in Jesus' name.

MESSAGE TITLE: Avoiding God’s Anger

TEXT: Numbers 11:1 “And when the people complained, it displeased the Lord: and the Lord heard it; and his anger was kindled; and the fire of the Lord burnt among them, and consumed them that were in the uttermost parts of the camp.”

God is a loving and merciful God, but He is also a holy and righteous God who hates sin and rebellion.
In our text today, Num. 11:1, the event there shows us a serious warning. The people of Israel had experienced God’s power, provision and protection, yet they began to complain against Him. Their complaining displeased God and His anger was kindled against them. This shows that complaining, ingratitude and rebellion can provoke God’s anger even in the midst of His blessings.

WHAT AVOIDING GOD'S ANGER MEANS.

Avoiding God’s anger means living in obedience, gratitude and submission to God in order to prevent attitudes and actions that displease Him and provoke His righteous judgment.

KEY LESSONS FOR TODAY.

1. Avoid Complaining Against God. Num. 11:1 “When the people complained, it displeased the Lord…” Complaining may seem like a small matter, but before God it is serious. Complaining is not just about words, it is an attitude of dissatisfaction toward God’s plan. Complaining reveals an ungrateful Heart. 1 Thess. 5:18 “In every thing give thanks…”

2. Avoid Rebellion Against God's Will. Complaining often leads to rebellion. Rebellion happens when people reject God’s authority and follow their own desires instead. Rebellion does not always appear openly, it often begins quietly in the heart. 1 Sam. 15:23 Rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft.

3. Avoid Discontentment With God's Provision. The Israelites became dissatisfied with what God provided. Discontentment blinded them to God’s blessings and led to frustration. Discontentment is dangerous because it creates endless dissatisfaction. Heb. 13:5 “Be content with such things as ye have…”

4. Cultivate Gratitude to Please God. Gratitude is the opposite of complaining. A grateful heart honors God and strengthens faith. Gratitude shifts focus from problems to God’s goodness. James 1:17.

SIGNS THAT YOU MAY BE PROVOKING GOD’S ANGER

✓ Persistent Complaining. This is one of the clearest signs that a person may be provoking God’s anger. Phil. 2:14

✓ Habitual Disobedience. This occurs when a person repeatedly ignores God’s instructions without remorse. Eccl. 12:13 “Fear God, and keep his commandments…”

✓ Ungrateful Attitude. An ungrateful attitude ignores God’s goodness and focuses only on perceived lack. 1 Thess. 5:18 “In every thing give thanks…”

✓ Rebellion Against Authority. Rebellion against God-appointed authority often reflects rebellion against God Himself. Rom. 13:1–2 “Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers…”

✓ Refusal to Repent. This is one of the most dangerous signs of provoking God’s anger. 2 Chr. 7:14

WAYS TO AVOID GOD’S ANGER

✓ Practice Gratitude Daily. 1 Thess. 5:18 “In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God…”

✓ Obey God's Word Consistently. John 14:15

✓ Maintain Contentment. 1 Tim. 6:6 Godliness with contentment is great gain.

✓ Seek Forgiveness Quickly. 1 John 1:9

✓ Trust God's Provision.
Ps. 23:1 “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.”

Beloved, God has blessed us in many ways: life, protection, provision and opportunities, yet it is easy to fall into complaining, discontentment and disobedience. If you are still living in sin, take this as a call to repentance. Do not harden your heart against God. Persistent rebellion leads to consequences but repentance brings mercy and restoration. If you are a believer, guard your heart carefully. Do not allow complaining, ingratitude or rebellion to grow in your life. Replace murmuring with thanksgiving, disobedience with submission and dissatisfaction with contentment. God’s anger can be avoided when your heart remain grateful, obedient and surrendered to Him. Choose today to live in a way that pleases God rather than provokes His displeasure. May the Lord give you grace to trust His provision and follow His will in every area of your life, in Jesus' name.

TODAY'S DEVOTION

SCRIPTURAL PASSAGES: Num. 4, Prov. 1, Mark 14:53-72.

FOCUS: Proverbs 1

MESSAGE TITLE: The Foundation of a Wise Life.

TEXT: Prov. 1:7 “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.”

Life must be built on a solid foundation. Many people are building careers, families and ambitions but very few are careful about the foundation of their lives.
In our text today, Proverbs 1, the Bible tells us clearly that the foundation of a wise life is the fear of the Lord. Without this foundation, life may appear successful, but it will eventually crumble. The book of Proverbs was written mainly by Solomon, a man widely known for wisdom. He observed life carefully and noticed that many people made avoidable mistakes simply because they ignored God’s instruction.

WHAT THE FEAR OF THE LORD MEANS.

The fear of the Lord is a deep reverence, respect and submission to God that leads a person to obey His Word and avoid sin. It does not mean being afraid of God in terror, it means honoring Him with sincerity and obedience. Eccl. 12:13

KEY LESSONS FOR TODAY.

1. The Fear of the Lord Is the Beginning of True Knowledge. True knowledge does not start in classroom, it starts in the heart that honors God. A person may have degrees, titles and intelligence, yet still lack wisdom because they do not reverence God. Joseph feared God and that fear guided him to reject sin even when temptation was strong. Gen. 39.

2. A Wise Life Is Built on Reverence for God. A foundation determines the strength of a structure. When the fear of the Lord becomes your foundation, your life stands firm even during difficulties. Reverence for God shapes your choices, your relationships, and your character. Pro. 9:10.

3. Rejecting Wisdom Leads to Foolish Living. Pro. 1:7 “…but fools despise wisdom and instruction.” A fool is not necessarily someone who lacks intelligence, it is someone who rejects correction and refuses to learn. King Saul ignored God’s instruction and his disobedience led to his downfall. 1 Sam.15. Do not despise correction.

4. The Fear of the Lord Protects You from Destruction. When you fear God, you avoid paths that lead to harm. Reverence for God acts as a protective shield against sin and its consequences. Pro. 16:6 “By the fear of the LORD men depart from evil.”

SIGNS THAT YOU ARE BUILDING ON THE RIGHT FOUNDATION.

These are clear evidences that your life is standing on the foundation of the fear of the Lord.

✓ You Respect God’s Word. Ps. 119:105 . Respecting God’s Word means giving it authority over your life.

✓ You Seek God Before Making Decisions. Pro. 3:5–6.

✓ You Accept Correction. Pro. 15:31. Accepting correction is a mark of wisdom and maturity.

✓ You Avoid Sinful Practices. Pro. 8:13 “The fear of the LORD is to hate evil…” When you fear God, you avoid practices that dishonor Him.

HOW TO BUILD THE FOUNDATION OF A WISE LIFE.

✓ Develop Reverence for God. Heb. 12:28 “…let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear.”

✓ Study and Obey God’s Word. Jam.1:22 “Be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only…”

✓ Accept Correction and Instruction. Pro. 10:17 “He is in the way of life that keepeth instruction…” Instruction shapes character.

✓ Avoid Sinful Influences. Ps.1:1 “Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly…”

Beloved, the foundation of your life determines the future of your life. A life without the fear of the Lord will eventually fall. If you are still living in sin, hear this warning: a life built on sin is a life built on sand. No matter how strong you appear today, storms will come and without God as your foundation, you will not stand. But today is an opportunity to change your foundation. Turn away from sin, return to God, and begin to build your life on the fear of the Lord. If you are a believer, this is also a call to examine your foundation. It is not enough to begin well, you must continue to build wisely. Stay rooted in God’s Word, remain teachable and do not allow compromise to weaken your foundation. Strengthen what you have built by living daily in reverence to God. May your life be built on a strong foundation that cannot be shaken, in Jesus' name.

HAVE A JOYFUL DAY.
