A churchgoer saved in Charles Finney's church 15years earlier eventually emerged as the catalyst for one of the greatest Revival of America New York City.
Today's New York City is a global city, with headquarters for the UN, commerce, culture, Research & entertainment.
Just 150 years ago, the irreligious city faces unexpected collapse in the financial structure of the nation.
Hundreds of banks failed....business houses were forced to close their doors, factories were shut down, Churches were in decline & thousands were disillusioned with Christianity.
Lamphier started his first noon prayer meeting for business men. After inviting & giving out tracks, only one person join him, 30minutes into the prayer.
In three weeks, this meeting grew until there were 100 men crying out for their city & a saturation of God to impact lives.
Within a month, Pastors who had come to Fulton street to cry out started morning prayer meetings all over the city. Overflow crowds caused people to meet in stores, police departments & local venues.
By the spring of 1857, over 6,000 people met daily for prayer in NY. All of a sudden, people started witnessing & winning souls for Christ & the Revival was fully on.
At a point in this Revival, 50,000 a week were coming to Christ.
