UNITED METHODIST CHURCH IN NIGERIA
Area 1, Garki, Abuja
Sunday Service: 24th May 2026

Today’s worship service was a moment of reflection, gratitude, and deep spiritual awakening as God reminded us of an important truth many people overlook in life☆

Moderator: Bro. Nuhu Aliyu Tukur
Preacher: Rev. Enoch Emawus
Sermon Topic: Jesus is the living water.
Text: John 7:37-38

MESSAGE SUMMARY☆

Introduction☆
In his Introduction, the preacher highlights that, in order to become a full member of Christian faith or member in the body of christ, one must first pass through the waters of Baptism according to Mathew 28:19, it is not an confirmation that water has become a "gateway"

However God was slowly preparing a way to his chosen people for his revelation throughout the history of world, the preacher highlights that, water was mentioned in the first verse of Genesis, as the spirit of God was moving over the face of the water [sea] quoted in Genesis 1:1

In his highlights he said, Jesus used "living water" as a metaphor for eternal life and the Holy Spirit. He explained that while physical water only temporarily satisfies bodily thirst, the spiritual "water" He offers—through a relationship with Him—completely satisfies the deepest longings of the soul and brings inner transformation that lasts forever,

He emphasized that,
In John 4:14, Jesus promises that those who drink the "living water" He provides will never thirst again. He explains that this spiritual water becomes an eternal, bubbling spring within a person, continually welling up to grant everlasting life,
The verse states: "But whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life,

Furthermore after the old testament, it comes as a surprise that why God chose waters of Baptism to become an integral part of his new covenant with us? He asked, but the preacher stressed that, in the old testament
> water is a sign of God’s judgement Gen 7:8
> water is a sign of deliverance Isaiah 43:2
While in the new testament
> God eternal sustenance, Revelation 22:17
> New life offered through Jesus John 4:14

CONCLUSION☆

The preacher conclude his message reminding the congregation that, Jesus is eternal life as quoted in Revelationn 22:1, the water of life is flowing from the throne of God, The phrase draws upon the life-giving properties of water, symbolizing the spiritual refreshment that comes from accepting Jesus Christ and his teachings. In essence, Jesus is the living water, providing the necessary spiritual nourishment for our souls to thrive.

Sunday Service: 17th May 2026

Today’s worship service was a moment of reflection, gratitude, and deep spiritual awakening as God reminded us of an important truth many people overlook in life:

Moderator: Bro. Emeji Emmanuel
Preacher: Rev. Dr. Ande Musa (Assistant CAN Secretary, Abuja Chapter)
Sermon Topic: Do Not Forget the Good Done to You by Others
Text: Judges 8:33–35

MESSAGE SUMMARY:

In a thought-provoking message from Judges 8:33–35, the preacher reminded the congregation that no one succeeds alone. Every person standing today has, at one point or another, received help from someone.

He emphasized that:

Nobody is where they are today without help.
No achievement comes without the contribution, support, sacrifice, encouragement, or assistance of others.

One of the painful realities in life is when people receive help in difficult moments and later fail to appreciate those who stood by them.

Some people rise and begin to ask:

“What have you done for me?”

Forgetting that there was a time when they could not stand on their own… forgetting those who supported them during seasons of weakness, hardship, and need.

The preacher stressed that:

If you are a good person, you will never forget those who helped you in your time of need.

Key Lessons from the Message

🔹 Gratitude is a mark of godliness and maturity.

🔹 Ingratitude hurts deeply, especially when help was given sincerely.

🔹 If you do not help others, do not expect help when your own time of need comes.

🔹 God often answers prayers through people. When God wants to bless you, He may send human beings into your life.

🔹 God can also test how you respond to those He used to help you.

🔹 Life is full of mysteries; therefore, never look down on those who supported you on your journey.

The preacher particularly reminded the congregation not to forget:

- Those who stood with us in difficult times
- Family members and friends who sacrificed for us
- Mentors and teachers
- Spiritual leaders and pastors who labor over us

A Challenge to the Church

The message ended with a call to unity and mutual support:

“If we help one another as we should, we will not remain poor as a congregation.”

Imagine a Church where everyone supports one another, remembers kindness, and lifts others up.

That is the kind of fellowship God desires.

CONCLUSION:

This Week’s Reflection

Take time this week and ask yourself:
Who helped me when I could not help myself?
Who stood by me when things were difficult?
Who prayed for me, encouraged me, or opened doors for me?
Do not forget them.
Reach out. Appreciate them. Pray for them.
Because gratitude keeps doors open and honors God.

PRAYER:
May God help us to remain grateful, humble, and willing to help others as we journey together in faith.

Sunday 10th May, 2026
United Methodist Church in Nigeria Area 1 Garki Abuja.

Moderator: Evang. Umar Idi Abbas
Preacher: Rev Mathew Daniel Dangombe
Sermon Topic: Behold I am doing a new thing
Text: Isaiah 43:19

Message Summary:

The preacher began his sermon with a rhetorical question to the congregation, he said, what are the new things that God is doing in your life? Or what are the new things that God is doing in the United Methodist Church?

The Apostle Paul in Athens, the preacher remind the believers that in Athens, Idols and altars of false gods filled the city, Paul addressed a group of philosophers meeting on a rock hill called the Areopagus (Mars Hill). Idols were humanity's attempt to make gods, but Paul preached that humans cannot create the True God. God has made humans and all that is in the world,

Apostle Paul proclaimed the one true God as creator, argued against idol worship, and called for repentance in light of the judgment to come through Jesus, whom God raised from the death, while some mocked the mention of resurrection, others wanted to hear more, and a few became believers, therefore for every believers to experience a new things that God has done in his life, you must let go of bad character's and align yourself with the will of God,

The preacher urged the congregation to "Examine their selves" this is a call to critical self-reflection, urging individuals—particularly in a biblical context—to scrutinize their own behavior, motives, beliefs, and spiritual condition to ensure they are living in alignment with faith, truth, or a required standard, It involves assessing one's life, identifying personal faults, and making necessary improvements, often likened to a "spiritual check-up, according to the Bible, examining ourselves means testing our lives and faith against God’s standards, rather than comparing ourselves to others.

Conclusion:

He concluded that, examining ourselves involves our inner motives and thoughts, recognizing that God already searches our hearts, Self-examination helps us to agree with God about our sin, leading to confession, repentance, and repentance from sinful habits, True examination leads to transformation and spiritual growth.

Message Summary on the conclusion of Choir Ministry, 21st century Choral convention Abuja District 2026:
Theme: Proclaiming his praise for a new things, Isaiah 43:18
Guest speaker: Pst. Meshach Daniel

Who spoke about the background of Prophet Isaiah, Quoted in Isaiah 1:8, describes Jerusalem ("Daughter of Zion") as isolated and vulnerable, likened to a temporary shack in a vineyard during a devastating invasion, this prophecy reflects the dire aftermath of Assyrian invasions in the late 8th century BCE, where Judah was largely destroyed, leaving only the capital barely standing, Prophet Isaiah prophesied during the reigns of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, which had already decimated the Northern Kingdom, the surrounding countryside was ravaged, leaving only Jerusalem ("the daughter of Zion") exposed like a fragile,

However in Isaiah 43:18-21 says God is doing a "new thing" therefore this requires letting go of past mistakes, regrets, and even previous victories to embrace a future designed for His glory, Key lessons include trusting God to create new paths in difficult, "wilderness" situations, staying spiritually alert to new divine opportunities, and remembering that people are formed to praise God, God is progressive, "doing" (not just planning) a new thing, which requires active faith and perception to recognize, God promises to make ways in the wilderness and rivers in the desert, symbolizing bringing life to barren or impossible situations, believers are created and formed specifically to "show forth his praise,

He further quote 1 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come, The old has gone, the new is here, It signifies that union with Christ brings a complete spiritual transformation, replacing one’s old, sinful nature with a new life, marking a new covenant and spiritual identity.

Conclusion:

The preacher gave some key things to see in the lives of believers who have given their life to Jesus, a transformation of character toward godliness (new creation), a loving and serving attitude towards others, and a consistent, obedient desire to follow Christ's teachings, These changes signify a deep, inner shift as the Holy Spirit works within us, A new life & changed behaviors, The "old" way of living (selfishness, sin) is replaced by a life that reflects Christ's character.

Message Summary:
*Sermon: Restored Identity to Proclaim His Praise*
*Text: Isaiah 43:21*

This people have I formed for myself; they shall show forth my praise.

There is something powerful about identity. When a person loses their identity, confusion takes over. When identity is restored, purpose becomes clear. God is saying in Isaiah 43:21 that we are formed by Him for a reason to proclaim His praise. That means your life is not meant to be silent; it is meant to speak, to reflect, and to glorify God.

But for a person to truly proclaim God’s praise, their identity must first be restored. And when identity is restored, three things happen.

First, you are reformed. The Bible says in Romans 12:2, “Be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mindset God restores your identity, He begins to change you from the inside. Your thinking changes, your desires change, your perspective changes. You no longer follow the pattern of the world because God is reshaping you according to His will. A restored identity always produces a transformed life. You cannot truly know who you are in God and remain the same.

Secondly, you are redefined. In Acts 1:8, the Bible says, “But ye shall receive powe and ye shall be witnesses unto me When identity is restored, God gives you a new definition. You are no longer defined by your past, your mistakes, or what people have said about you. You are now defined by God’s power and purpose. You become a witness someone whose life speaks of God’s goodness. Your story changes, your name changes in the spirit, and your life begins to carry meaning.

Thirdly, you are repositioned. In John 15:16, Jesus said, Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you and in 1 Samuel 2:8, the Bible tells us that God raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy to set them among princes. When God restores your identity, He changes your position. He takes you from where you were and places you where you are meant to be. You are no longer hidden; you are positioned for purpose. You are no longer overlooked; you are placed where your life will count.

All these lead back to the purpose in Isaiah 43:21 that you may show forth His praise. When you are reformed, redefined, and repositioned, your life naturally begins to glorify God. You don’t struggle to testify; your life becomes the testimony. People will see you and recognize that God has done something in your life.

Beloved, God is not just interested in blessing you; He is interested in restoring your identity so that your life can proclaim His praise. Stop holding on to the old version of yourself. Stop identifying with what God has already changed. Step into who God has made you to be.

Because when your identity is restored, your voice becomes clear, your purpose becomes evident, and your life becomes a praise to God.
