*βGOD'S OWN PEOPLE*
πͺ»πͺ»πͺ»
*Memory verse:* β"But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God's special possession that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light."
β 1 Peter 2:9, NIV

*Text:: 1 Peter 2:4-12*

[4] As you come to him, the living Stoneβrejected by humans but chosen by God and precious to himβ
π₯
[5] you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
π₯
[6] For in Scripture it says: βSee, I lay a stone in Zion, a chosen and precious cornerstone, and the one who trusts in him will never be put to shame.β
π₯
[7] Now to you who believe, this stone is precious. But to those who do not believe, βThe stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone,β
π₯
[8] and, βA stone that causes people to stumble and a rock that makes them fall.β They stumble because they disobey the messageβwhich is also what they were destined for.
π₯
[9] But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, Godβs special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.
π₯
[10] Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.
π₯
[11] Dear friends, I urge you, as foreigners and exiles, to abstain from sinful desires, which wage war against your soul.
π₯
[12] Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us.

βMr John chose peace over retaliation when miscreants destroyed his property.
πͺ»πͺ»πͺ»
Despite his power and influence, as one of God's own, he remained calm and used the moment to share Christ.
πΈπΈπΈ
His godly response touched many hearts, and also led to numerous conversions.
πΌπΌπΌ

βPeter, in today's passage, reveals the identity of believers as God's own people.
πΌπΌπΌ
Though once rejected, we are now chosen and precious just like the cornerstone.
πΈπΈπΈ
We are a holy nation, a chosen people, and a royal priesthood set aside to give God praise.
π₯π₯π₯
Our new identity comes with the responsibility to live a holy life.
πͺΈπͺΈπͺΈ
Holiness is an uncompromising nature of God. It is a demand from God for His people: just as he who called you is holy, be holy in all you do.
π₯π₯π₯
God's own people must behave in a way to make the people around them praise their God.
πͺΈπͺΈπͺΈ
βWe must show forth our royal priesthood position in holiness and godliness.
πͺ»πͺ»πͺ»
We are called to be God's people. Let us show the world the true character of God by our lifestyle.
π₯π₯π₯
The world will remain in darkness until the people of God switch on the light in them.
πΊπΊπΊ
Let your life make people around you praise your God.
πΈπΈπΈ
*βInsight:* Let your light shine to dislodge darkness around me.
πͺ·πͺ·πͺ·
*βPrayer:* Father, rekindle Your light in me so that people around me may come to Your salvation.
