*THE BLESSING OF WAITING*

*Text:* Psalm 27: 14
*Memory Verse:* “I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.” (Psalm 27:13).

Our text reveals the blessings that shall follow the man with the heart to wait on the Lord.
- To wait here means to relax on the Lord.
- It means to be patient till the time of His visitation.
- It means to stay expecting to see the manifestation of His performances.
Waiting patiently reveals great spiritual maturity. It is the proof that your faith is strongly rooted in God’s word and not only other things. Waiting will surely bring you to a harvest season. Our memory verse says, “I had fainted unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of living.”
Waiting on God ensures your goodness from God. What are the blessings of waiting?
1. The strength of God is released for you: God strengthens those that wait on Him. He frees them from every form of weakness. Our text says He will strengthen our soul, so we should wait on Him by holding unto His word.
2. The second blessing of waiting is testimony. Choosing to wait is waiting to be blessed, with the wonders that only God can do.
3. The third blessing of waiting is deliverance.
As we wait, He delivers us from harm and danger. Psalm 40:1-2 says, “I waited patiently for the Lord and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry. (2) He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feed upon a rock, and established my goings.”

*Food for Thought:*
Waiting patiently reveals great spiritual maturity.

*Prayer:*
Father, I receive the power to wait till my change comes in Jesus name.

Isaiah 41:10

*IT IS ALREADY DONE*

*Text:* Luke 17:12-19
*Memory Verse:* “Now faith is the substance of things hope for, the evidence of things not seen.” (Hebrews 11:1).

God’s purpose in life does not require perfection. If it does we would have been disqualified. But it requires faith for freedom.
Luke 1:45 says “And blessed is she that believed: for there shall be a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord.” You must believe and exercise faith in God’s promises for Him to perform on your behalf.
If Mary had not believed the angel of God, her miracle would have been aborted, but thank God she believed. Hebrew 4:3 says “For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world”.
Are you aware that in Christ, God has done all, that He has ever meant to do for you? What is left is for you to discover those things and walk in the light of them. Meanwhile, men that choose to pursue something when they had nothing do not allow themselves to be limited.
Child of God, No matter what you are going through, I will like you to know that this is your season and you must trust God to do something for you. According to our text, Luke 17:12-19, the ten leprous men did not allow what they had to have them, rather they spoke their desires. Despite what you are going through, let your confidence be in God. He will neither leave you nor forsake you. Be ready to fight and win the battle and maintain your victory in Christ.

*Food for Thought:*
No matter what you may be going through right now, Jesus has settled it all for you and the power for change is within you.

*Prayer:*
Father, thank You for You have given me all that I need for life and godliness in Jesus name.

*HOW TO KEEP YOUR HOPE ALIVE*

*Text:* Psalm 33:20-22
*Memory Verse:* “Let thy mercy, O LORD, be upon us, according as we hope in thee,” (Psalm 33:22).

If you have faced overwhelming loss, repeated failures and betrayals of trust, you might find it difficult to live a life of hope.
How to keep your hope alive:
- Feed on the scriptures daily. Ability to study the scriptures and know it by Rhema, not by Logos. Rhema produces revelation while Logos is the written word, Romans 15:4
- Speak the word/promises of God to yourself and your family regularly, (2 Corinthians 4:13). He will renew your hope. If the hope is corporate or institutional, speak the word of hope to your life, family, friends and other believers around you.
- Set your hope anew on God every day. The challenges of life are daily but God’s mercies are new every day. Set your hope fresh in God daily. That you were hopeful yesterday does not mean you will be today. So set your hope anew in God daily, Psalms 78:7.
- Remember His glorious miracles. Do not forget what God did for you in the past or what He did in the scriptures. Remembering God’s glorious miracles gives you hope that what God did before, He can do again, Psalm 103:2.
- Be obedient to God’s word. Do not forget that your hope is founded on the word of God. If you are willing and obedient you will eat the good of the land, (Isaiah 1:19).
- Rejoice in hope. You cannot want to keep hope alive and be mournful. They may not at all be things of joy. Joy affects you positively and those around you, Nehemiah 8:10.

*Food for Thought:*
We all need to live our lives with a healthy sense of anticipation (hope).

*Prayer:*
Father, I receive the grace to always keep my hope alive based on Your promises for my life in Jesus name.

*KEEP HOPE ALIVE 2*

*Text:* Romans 15:4
*Memory Verse:* “But I will hope continually, and will yet praise thee more and more,” (Psalms 71:14).

There are two kinds of hope: Natural and Bible-based (Divine hope). Natural hope has no assurance that it will be realized, but it can make people feel good and have positive expectations. It may come to pass, and it may not.
The scriptures give patience and comfort (encouragement) so that we can have hope,
Romans 15:14. God does not want us to operate at the same level as unbelievers who may have only natural hope. He wants our hope to be divine, that is, rooted in His words.
Our memory verse says “But I will hope continually, and will praise you yet more and more”
That means, do not give up hope, keep hope alive. Hope has been defined as ‘A belief that something you want will happen” (Oxford Learner’s Dictionary).
Faith and hope go hand in hand. Hebrews 11:1 says “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen”. The more you feed on the scriptures, the more you will learn the patience and comfort - the encouragement that the scriptures give, and you will have hope in life, no matter what you are going through. The hope the scriptures give believers includes:
- The hope of resurrection and eternal life, 1Cointhians 15:15-19
- The hope of divine healing and health, Exodus 15:26
- The hope of restoration and turnaround, Joel 2:25
- The hope of a good future, Jeremiah 29:11.
Hope gives us the expectation that tomorrow will be better than today. Such hope is even more effective when it is founded on the word or promises of God.

*Food for Thought:*
Keep hope alive, based on the word of God that cannot fail. God cannot lie, He is not human, and so He does not change His mind.

*Prayer:*
Father, by the power of the Holy Spirit, help me to set my hope anew on You.

*KEEP YOUR HOPE ALIVE 1*

*Text:* Job 14:7
*Memory Verse:* “Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations; according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be,” (Romans 4:18).

The worst thing that can happen to a child of God is to lose hope. One major reason people lose hope is that they have consistently listened to the lies of the devil. The devil’s assignment is to paint a picture of hopelessness so that you can conclude that God has given up on you.
Hear this, there is no way you can serve God and lose. When things become tough as they do sometimes, stay on the word of God. Let the word become your stronghold. Do not call a pity party or cancel yourself out.
“For there is hope for a tree, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again. And that the tender branch thereof will not cease” from our text.
If there is hope for a tree after it is cut down, how much more for you? You may not be able to fully comprehend what is happening to you, but as long as your hope in God is unshaken, let the devil jump up and down, you know you have the victory.
Have you thought of the fact that though Esther was a slave girl in a foreign land, she rose to the position of being queen? Being a slave was not comfortable, it was a bad condition to be in, yet she was catapulted from slavery to royalty. Beloved, that same grace that took away the reproach of slavery from Esther would work for you. Amen.
Never lose hope because the God you serve is a specialist in turning things around for His children.

*Food For Thought:*
You will not remain where you are today. You will get to that height God has ordained for you.

*Prayer:*
Father, I demand the grace for speed in life in Jesus name.

*MIX HOPE WITH FAITH AND LOVE*

*Text:* Hebrews 4:2
*Memory Verse:* “And now abideth faith, hope charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity,” (1 Corinthians 13:13).

The word of God ministers hope, faith and love. Many times, when people hear the word of God, the first thing it gives them is hope.
However, hope is not enough; hope gives you the picture afar off - pictures of possibilities. It shows you the blessing that could result from acting on God’s word.
Faith, on the other hand, is the response of your human spirit to that hope that God’s word has ministered to you while love is the way you act upon it, the way you live by the word that God has given you.
When the word of God ministers hope to you, you have a choice to mix it with faith and get an expected result. For example, Sarah, Abraham’s wife heard the word that she was going to have a son for Abraham (Genesis 17:16) but at that moment in her life, she did not mix the word with faith. She tried to make God’s word come to pass in her own way by giving her maid, Hagar, to Abraham so she could get a son for Abraham through her. The word brought her hope, but God required her faith as well. Things did not quite work out as she expected. Hagar did bear a son for Abraham - Ishmael by name, but that was not the result God wanted Sarah soon became frustrated and upset by the result she got, Genesis 21:9.
Do not try to make God do things your own way or try to help Him make His word come to pass. The Lord never fails or disappoints. He however, expects you to mix His word with faith and walk in love, for faith works by love.

*Food for Thought:*
When the word of God ministers hope to you, you have a choice to mix it with faith and love for it to produce the results that God wants.

*Prayer:*
Father, as I study Your word today, may my spirit be enlightened to know and walk in the path You have ordained for me in Jesus name.
