WHO IS A PASTOR ?
A Pastor is better described as translated in the Yoruba Language 'Shepherd' that OLUSOAGUTAN.
A Pastor therefore is :-
1- a keeper of the Sheep,
2- a feeder of the Sheep,
3- a watchman over the Sheep,
4- a leader of the Sheep and
5- a caretaker of the Sheep, etc.
Prophet Jeremiah gives us the first biblical reference to this Ascension gift of Christ to the body ie. the Church. Jer. 3:15, in verse 14, it referred to the backsliding Israel, which could also applied to the Church in the new testament.
Acts20:28 & 1st Pet.5:1,2. Pastor here called elders according Apostle John are feeders of the Sheep.
Pastors are spiritual nurses. Acts.20:31.
He is a watchman of the property of God, that is, the Church. Heb.13:17.
Jesus Himself is referred to as Shepherd in 1st Pet. 2:25, Ps. 23:1.
As the good Shepherd and Chief Shepherd in Jn. 10:11, 1st Pet. 5:4
and has been able to give Pastors to the Church.
It is agreeable that any person divinely called and ordained as a Pastor is a feeder, keeper, watchman, caretaker, leader of God's people.
