Keep Standing

Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. (Ephesians 6:13, NIV)

Sometimes, people have problems because they are making poor choices or doing something wrong. But other times, people are having difficulties because they are doing something right.

When you’re determined to fulfill your God-given destiny, and you’re taking steps to improve your life or make a difference in your family or community, don’t be surprised if you face opposition. The enemy is not going to just roll out the red carpet and watch you fulfill your God-given destiny. He’ll do whatever he can to keep you from moving forward. The apostle Paul said this, A wide door of opportunity is open for me and there are many adversaries. I’be found that anytime you try to go forward in life, anytime you try to make progress, there will be opposition. But with God on your side, you can stand your ground! Greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world. If you’re facing opposition today, keep standing, keep believing, keep hoping. Keep fighting the good fight of faith until you see the victory He has in store for you!

Receive His Mercy
..Mercy triumphs over judgment - James 2:13, NIV

We‘ve all made mistakes. We’ve all made wrong choices, but as believers in Jesus, that does’t change our heritage. God doesn’t kick us out of the kingdom because we’re not perfect. Maybe you don’t feel like you deserve God’s goodness, or you think you’re supposed to suffer through life and just endure that problem. But this is what mercy is all about. His mercy will renew and restore you!

No matter what you may have done wrong, you are still the apple of God’s eye. You are still His most prized possession. You can still access God’s promises by faith today. Why don’t you shake off the guilt and condemnation? Put your shoulders back and say, I may not be perfect, but I am forgiven. I may have made mistakes, but God knows my heart is to please Him, and I am changing my ways. Even though I may have brought this trouble on myself, I’m going to stay in faith and expect God to turn it around. Access His mercy today and let Him empower you to move forward in every area of your life!

Victory Over Death

O death, where is thy sting?... 1 Corinthians 15:55

Death is the most democratic experience in life for we all participate in it. We think of its happening only to other people. We don’t like to grow old and we don’t like to die. The Bible teaches that death is an enemy of man and God. But it also teaches that this enemy, death, will ultimately be destroyed forever; that in fact it has already been defeated at the cross and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Death, for a Christian, brings permanent freedom from evil. It also means the believer will be like Jesus. We shall be like Christ in love. So much of self is involved in what we do here; but one day, in Christ, we will have perfect love. What a glorious time it will be when we get to heaven!

The Real You

For he knoweth our frame... Psalm 103:14

It is significant that our first astronauts, while being trained for their moon flights, were required to give twenty answers to the query, Who are you? Take the same test yourself. When you have made your list and run out of things to add, ask yourself if you have truly answered. Do you really know who you are? Scientists agree that our desperate search leads all humans to seek heroes and to imitate others, to paste bits and pieces of other people on ourselves. We make love as some actor would. We play golf in the style of Jack Nicklaus. Part of this process is natural, for we learn by imitating others. The tragedy is that the person we assemble is not genuine. Who am I? you cry as you roam the world looking for yourself. Consider this: there are three of you. There is the person you think you are. There is the person others think you are. There is the person God knows you are and can be through Christ.

The Joy of Knowing

Happy is he... whose hope is in the Lord his God. Psalm 146:5

Happy is the man who has learned the secret of coming to God in daily prayer. Fifteen minutes alone with God every morning before you start the day can change circumstances and remove mountains! But all of this happiness and all of these unlimited benefits which flow from the storehouse of heaven are contingent upon our relationship to God. Absolute dependency and absolute yieldedness are the conditions of being His child. Only His children are entitled to receive those things that lend themselves to happiness; and in order to be His child, there must be the surrender of the will to Him. Man does not come to know God through works-he comes to know God by faith, through grace. You cannot work your way toward happiness and heaven, you cannot moralize your way, you cannot reform your way, you cannot buy your way. It comes as a gift of God through Christ.

Finished with Fear

For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline. (2 Timothy 1:7, NLT)

So many people today are missing out on God’s abundant life of joy, peace and victory because they are living in a spirit of fear. They are afraid to make a decision, afraid to confront issues, afraid to step out, afraid of the past, and afraid of the future. But as believers, we don’t have to live that way. Fear is not from God. God has given you power, love and a sound mind!

Today, make the decision that you are no longer going to walk in fear. Scripture says that perfect love casts out all fear. Ask God for a deep revelation of His love. Meditate on His Word and let it fill you with faith. Equip yourself spiritually to stand strong in the face of fear knowing that God has good things in store for your future!

Rejoice in Him

I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation.
Habakkuk 3:18

Christians are supposed to be happy persons! Our generation has become well versed in Christian terminology, but is remiss in the actual practice of Christ’s principles and teachings. Hence, our greatest need today is not more Christianity but more true Christians. The world can argue against Christianity as an institution, but there is no convincing argument against a person who, through the Spirit of God, has been made Christlike. Such a person is a living rebuke to the selfishness, rationalism, and materialism of the day. Jesus said to the woman at Jacob’s well, Whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst. This sin-sick, disillusioned woman was the symbol of the whole race. Her longings were our longings! Her heart-cry was our heart-cry! Her disillusionment was our disillusionment! Her sin was our sin! But her Savior can be our Savior! Her forgiveness can be our forgiveness! Her joy can be our joy!

YOUR HEART, YOUR DESTINY

The state of your heart determines your place on the earth. It takes an open heart to open up your earth. If your heart is closed, your earth will be closed.

The purer the heart, the greater your possession on the earth. Matthew 5:8. To the pure all things are pure and to the impure, all things are impure. What the engine is in a car is what the heart is to a destiny.

Destiny will crash if the heart is broken. The race of life will slow down and be scuttled if the engine is not sound. Everything that is wrong in life has its root in the heart, you cannot possess a right heart and end with a wrong destiny.

Make Preparations
..Prepare the way of the Lord...(Isaiah 40:3, NKJV)

Everyone goes through seasons of waiting. A lot of times, people just sit back and wait for God to do everything. But you have to remember to do your part and make preparations. You have to talk like it’s going to happen and act like it’s going to happen. Some people might say, Well, what if I do and it doesn’t happen? Really, we should think, What if I do and it does happen? Even if things don’t turn out the way you had hoped, you are better off living your life feeling positive and hopeful than going around down and discouraged.

I love what David said in the Bible, God, my times are in Your hands. He was saying, God, I don’t know when it’s going to happen, but I know You know what’s best for me. So I’m going to go out today expecting good things. Even if it doesn’t happen, I’m not going to go to bed disappointed. I’m going to go to bed knowing that I’m one day closer to seeing my dreams and desires come to pass!

Religion Or Righteousness?

For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature (Galatians 6:15)

William Booth, a Methodist preacher who started the Salvation Army in England in the middle 1800s was once asked what dangers he thought lay ahead for Christianity. He replied, In answer to your inquiry, I consider that the chief dangers which confront the coming century will be religion without the Holy Spirit, Christianity without Christ, forgiveness without repentance, salvation without regeneration, politics without God, and heaven without hell.

Paul the Apostle in our text, concluded a large letter to the Galatians primarily aimed at keeping them in the faith without giving in to preachers of Judaism and advocates of religion that cannot save. In this conclusion, he reminded these precious converts in Galatia that the Jewish traditionalist’s outreach to them is to make them conform to their religion and customs. He reminded them that the circumcision which counts in the sight of God is not that which is outward but the inward heart circumcision.

The confusion about which teachings takes precedence; the Bible or tradition continues today. Many, today, respect the traditions of their churches over and above God’s word. Some ignorantly believe their church leaders are infallible, that is, they cannot make mistakes. Those who are fanning the embers of religion must understand that people don’t get to heaven by complying with man’s requirements.

It is only God’s immutable dictates and the necessary compliance that will get sincere seekers to heaven. No wonder Jesus denounced the religious leaders of his days for teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. Upon which foundation do you stand? The Bible or tradition? Making models of religious men who are blinded by tradition, and neglecting the inspired word of God carries grave consequences. Please be warned!
