SOME REGULAR IRONIES IN THE LOCAL CHURCH

1. Those who don't give are the ones that complain about the church welfare system.

2. Those who come to church late are the ones that complain the church services are too long.

3. Those who don't do evangelism are the ones that complain that the church is not growing.

4. Those who care for nobody in church are the ones that complain that there is no love in the church.

5. Those who do not attend prayer meetings, and have zero personal prayer life, are the ones that complain about dry church services

6. Folks who see and say no good thing about anyone in church, are always the one that complain that there is gossip in church.

Etc.
(You can check and add to the list)

Truth is that folks who complain about their churches are not really committed there, because a pulling horse hardly kicks. Real disciples and ministers in any local church hardly talk about what is wrong with the church- they simply move to fix it.

Never be found in the complainers unit. Be involved. Be committed to change. Make the difference.

WHEN NOT TO ASK FOR SUPPORT

Dear Preacher, I think one way to embarrass and degrade yourself and ministry is asking for ministry support from people that do not believe in your calling.

You should rather choose to d!e than ask the wrong people for help.

Elijah was sent to the Zarephat widow; God touched the Shunemite woman to attend to Elisha; God touched the hearts of the young men to follow and serve Saul with their lives and substance when the anointing landed on him.

Jesus in his earthly ministry only got support from those that believed in his ministry; when he sent out the disciples, the instruction was clear: "Stay and eat in houses where they believe in your ministry.." Again in the ministry of the Apostles, they only got support from the churches and those whose hearts the Lord had touched.

People only give when they are touched by the Lord. People only give when they catch the burden of the ministry. People only give when they believe in the ministry.

This is a frank assertion: some of the people you are running after don't believe in the assignment you're doing. Some of them feel you are in ministry because you are not educated; others believe you're pastoring because you couldn't get a job, while some even believe you are in ministry because you failed in every other area of life.

It will be sheer humiliation to beg folks who quietly put you down in their hearts.
You will k!ll your convictions, if you keep chasing people around to support your ministry. You will start doubting your calling when they start messing with your esteem.

Help is coming for the assignment. Stay committed to it.

If a church doctrine makes you doubt your salvation, it will keep you as a babe forever. You cannot grow spiritually while doubting your salvation.

The assurance of your salvation is the foundation upon which every other spiritual reality is built.

IT IS ONE GOSPEL !!

For the records, there is no such thing as Prosperity Gospel, Grace Gospel, Deliverance gospel, healing gospel, marriage gospel, or the Legalistic Gospel, etc. It is one gospel; it is the gospel of Christ, and you're either preaching it or preaching against it.

The gospel is whole- it is a unit. You cannot compartmentalize or departmentalize it. Every preacher is called to preach Christ, so any attempt to fragment the gospel is an attack on the message.

I have severally rejected being addressed as a Grace Preacher, because there is no such thing. Christ is the central emphasis of the gospel, so any emphasis of the gospel that tends to obscure the cross is an error. To add any adjective to the gospel is to admit that there are other kinds of it.

That was why in Galatians 1 when Apostle Paul was addressing the concerns of the proliferation of the gospel, he stated emphatically that every variant of the gospel was NO GOSPEL. He further stated that anyone preaching a variant of the gospel was an ENEMY of the gospel.

The gospel is Salvation through Jesus. The gospel is emphasising the travails and the triumph of Christ.
The gospel is growing in the knowlege, Character and power of Jesus.
The gospel is imbibing the principles of Christ. It seeing our new nature through the lenses of Christ

A gospel that focuses on money is no gospel. A gospel that focuses on self is no gospel. A gospel that focuses on demons and enemies is no gospel. The gospel is not psychology, philosophy or economics: it is the love, power and nature of God taught and declared in power.

As you preach tomorrow, ensure it is the gospel.

Enjoy grace.

THE WEIRDEST SERMON I EVER PREACHED

I stumbled on my old sermon note recently. I used this note between 2003 and 2005. I saw in it a weird topic and I began to wonder how I came about the caption, "Perfume on Dead Bodies" ( How God Uses Dead Men). It was such a "Powerful sermon ".

I explained in the message how you must die before God would use you. And as it was a trademark of revival in the days, you would hammer until people would sob and wail in tears.

Many believers say
“You must die for God to use you", “God uses dead men”, etc.
This often creates the idea of
Emptiness, Worthlessness and inadequacy, always striving to become what God already made you.

The Bible does not say “keep trying to die.” It says you HAVE died already in Christ, and much more than that, you have been made alive by the Spirit of Christ.

Romans 6:3–4
"We were buried with Christ through baptism"

Romans 6:11
“Reckon yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God…”

Galatians 2:20
“I have been crucified with Christ, nevertheless I live…”

So you see, While we are saying men must die for God to use them, the Bible says we have died. The Bible says we have been buried with Christ, and the Bible says we have risen with him. We are buried with him by baptism and we are raised unto the newness of life.

Many stop at “death” and miss the main point. We didn’t just die—we were raised! Raised with Christ, made alive by the Spirit. We have been given a new life. The Christian faith and ministry is not about staying dead: It is about living a new life- God's own very life at work in mortal men.

The Bible calls us able ministers, and this includes the weakest saint. Get used to your new nature and stop grinding under identity crisis.

Enjoy grace.

The Passover was not just about the blood robbed on the door post: it was about the eating of the roasted flesh.

The cross is not just about the blood shed for us. It is about Jesus identifying with us. It is about he becoming us, and we becoming him. He lives as much in us as we in him.

We celebrate his death and resurrection, but much more, our life through/in him. It is not just about him: it is about us.

Happy Good Friday.
