SERMON TITLE: IF YOU CANNOT CONTROL YOUR HOUSEHOLD
TEXT:
1 Timothy 3:4–5, Joshua 24:15, Proverbs 22:6
---
INTRODUCTION
God places great importance on the home. Before the pulpit, there is the parlor. Before the crowd, there is the family. Before ministry to the world, there is ministry at home.
The Bible asks a deep question:
“If a man does not know how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?”
Beloved, your first assignment is not outside—it is inside your house.
---
1. THE HOME IS YOUR FIRST MINISTRY
(1 Timothy 3:4–5)
Leadership begins at home
Character is proven in private before it is displayed in public
Your family is the first flock God has given you
Insight:
If your home is in disorder, your ministry will lack authority.
Prayer Point:
Lord, help me to lead my household with wisdom and love.
---
2. LEADERSHIP IS NOT CONTROL, IT IS GUIDANCE
(Joshua 24:15)
“As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”
You don’t dominate your home—you direct it
Leadership requires example, not just instruction
What you do speaks louder than what you say
Insight:
A silent example is louder than a thousand commands.
Prayer Point:
Father, make me a godly example in my home.
---
3. TRAINING IS BETTER THAN CORRECTION
(Proverbs 22:6)
“Train up a child in the way he should go…”
Don’t wait until things go wrong before acting
Discipline must be consistent and loving
Values must be intentionally taught
Insight:
A child not trained today becomes a problem tomorrow.
Prayer Point:
Lord, give me grace to raise my household in Your ways.
---
4. A DIVIDED HOUSE CANNOT STAND
(Mark 3:25)
Strife destroys spiritual authority
Unity invites God’s presence
Peace in the home strengthens your calling
Insight:
You cannot cast out demons outside when there is chaos inside.
Prayer Point:
Every spirit of division in my home, be cast out in Jesus’ name.
