During the FCT Baptist Conference Royal Ambassadors ASVC Weekly Charge themed “VICTORY OVER VICES,” Amb. Samuel Ogungbayi spoke extensively on the topic “PEER PRESSURE AND BAD INFLUENCE.”
Please find the summary of the charge below:
Peer pressure is no longer just about friends convincing you to do wrong. Sometimes, it’s the environment, social media, trends, and repeated exposure that slowly normalize things you once rejected.
At first, something feels wrong. Then you keep seeing it everywhere until it starts looking “normal.” Eventually, you begin to minimize it:
“It’s not that deep.”
“Everybody is doing it.”
“I just want to try it once.”
That’s how pressure works - not by force, but by slowly reshaping your standards.
Whether it’s drugs, fake lifestyles, sexual pressure, unhealthy habits, or dangerous trends, most people don’t fall because they are weak. They fall because they want to belong.
The scary part is that peer pressure rarely destroys instantly. It works through repetition until you stop questioning what you once stood against.
So ask yourself:
• Who influences you daily?
• What kind of content are you consuming?
• Who are the people shaping your mindset?
• If your circle remains the same for one year, where will your life be?
You don’t become better by accident. You become better by design.
Choose your circle carefully… or your circle will slowly choose who you become.
