B. BIBLE TEXT: 2 Chronicles 26:1-15

1 Then all the people of Judah took Uzziah, who was sixteen years old, and made him king in the room of his father Amaziah.

2 He built Eloth, and restored it to Judah, after that the king slept with his fathers.

3 Sixteen years old was Uzziah when he began to reign, and he reigned fifty and two years in Jerusalem. His mother's name also was Jecoliah of Jerusalem.

4 And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, according to all that his father Amaziah did.

5 And he sought God in the days of Zechariah, who had understanding in the visions of God: and as long as he sought the LORD, God made him to prosper.

6 And he went forth and warred against the Philistines, and brake down the wall of Gath, and the wall of Jabneh, and the wall of Ashdod, and built cities about Ashdod, and among the Philistines.

7 And God helped him against the Philistines, and against the Arabians that dwelt in Gurbaal, and the Mehunims.

8 And the Ammonites gave gifts to Uzziah: and his name spread abroad even to the entering in of Egypt; for he strengthened himself exceedingly.

9 Moreover Uzziah built towers in Jerusalem at the corner gate, and at the valley gate, and at the turning of the wall, and fortified them.

10 Also he built towers in the desert, and digged many wells: for he had much cattle, both in the low country, and in the plains: husbandmen also, and vine dressers in the mountains, and in Carmel: for he loved husbandry.

11 Moreover Uzziah had an host of fighting men, that went out to war by bands, according to the number of their account by the hand of Jeiel the scribe and Maaseiah the ruler, under the hand of Hananiah, one of the king's captains.

12 The whole number of the chief of the fathers of the mighty men of valour were two thousand and six hundred.

13 And under their hand was an army, three hundred thousand and seven thousand and five hundred, that made war with mighty power, to help the king against the enemy.

14 And Uzziah prepared for them throughout all the host shields, and spears, and helmets, and habergeons, and bows, and slings to cast stones.

15 And he made in Jerusalem engines, invented by cunning men, to be on the towers and upon the bulwarks, to shoot arrows and great stones withal. And his name spread far abroad; for he was marvellously helped, till he was strong.

*LESSON THIRTY FOUR (34)*
*TOPIC: WALKING AND LIVING IN THE HOLY SPIRIT*

BIBLE TEXT: 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, Luke 10:27
1 Corinthians 6:19-20
[19]What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
[20]For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

Luke 10:27
[27]And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.

MEMORY VERSE: Galatians 5:16; This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

LESSON AIM: The children will learn that if they believe in God, the Holy Spirit will make His home in their lives.

INTRODUCTION:
Please let us turn our Bibles to 1 Corinthians 6: 19-20," Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price.
Therefore honor God with your body." If the Holy Spirit lives in us, what kind of home would He want to have? So, how should we take care of the home that the Holy Spirit lives in? Let's brainstorm today!

PROGRESSION OF EVENT: Luke 10:27
1. MIND:
- Protect your mind from sin. ( Be careful what you watch on TV or the Internet.)
- Listen to music with good lyrics. Read books that would honor Him.
- Surround yourselves with good friends; people who will encourage you to do the right thing.
• Study God's Word.

BODY:
- Exercise.
- Eat a balanced diet of foods.
- Get your sleep.
• And a shower at least once a day.

HEART:
• Ask for forgiveness of your sins.
- Hide God's word in your heart.
- Be completely humble and gentle.
- Be thankful.

OTHERS:
- Think first about God, then others.
- Love is patient, love is kind
- Live peaceably with all. (Don't start fights!)
- Forgive people when they have wronged you.

CLIMAX: In Him, the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. (Ephesians 2:21).

CONCLUSION: And in Him, you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by His Spirit (Ephesian 2:22).

CHALLENGE: If you trust in Jesus as Lord and Saviour, the Holy Spirit will live in you and will be with you. If we have asked Jesus to forgive us of our sins, and we turn from those sins to follow God, then we have the Holy Spirit living with us!
How does that make you feel? If the Holy Spirit lives in what kind of home would He want to have? Would He want a home full of trash or sin? No! Ephesians 4:30, actually says that we can grieve the Holy Spirit. That means that we can make Him sad with our poor choices in life.

INVITATION: To be able to walk and live in the Holy Spirit, you need Jesus to be your personal Lord and Saviour (Ephesians 2:8).

MEMORY VERSE: "All the brethren of the poor hate him: How much more do his friends go far from him! he may pursue them with words, yet they abandon him". –Proverbs 19:7(NKJV)

BIBLE PASSAGE: PROVERBS 6:9-11
9 How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleep
10 Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:
11 So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth, and thy want as an armed man.

INTRODUCTION: Generally, poverty can be described as a state of being extremely poor. Poverty can take different forms: mental, spiritual, material or financial. In the context of material/financial possessions, poverty is said to exist when people lack the means to satisfy their basic needs. Scriptures clearly state that even brethren of the poor hate him (Proverbs 19:7) and that poverty can destroy the poor (Proverbs 10:15). What then causes poverty and how can a believer break free from it?

LESSON OUTLINES
1. CAUSES OF POVERTY
2. HOW TO BREAK FREE

1. CAUSES OF POVERTY
While poverty can be in categories or degrees, several factors can be responsible for it:
1.Personal attitude which includes laziness/idleness (Prov.10:4; 19:15); Poor work ethics (Prov.14:23; 2Thess.3:10); Lack of self-discipline (Prov.12:27); Stubbornness (Prov.13:18); Drunkenness and gluttony (Prov.23:21); Worldliness and frivolous pursuits (Prov. 21:17; 28:19); Limitation mentality (Prov.23:7a).
2. Natural disasters (famine, floods, droughts, etc.) - Gen.12:10, health challenges (Mk.5:25-26), fire outbreaks (Job 1:16), death of a benefactor (2Sam.4:4).
3. Oppression of others: Examples of oppression that can cause poverty include delayed wages (Lev.19:13; 1Tim.5:18), exorbitant interest rates on loans (Ex.22:25-27).
4. Spiritual causes of poverty include: Repercussion of sin (Deut.28:15-21) and wrong spiritual concepts as some believers equate poverty to holiness.

CLASS ACTIVITY 1: Share with the class, the cause of poverty of anyone you know and what others should do not to fall into poverty.

2. HOW TO BREAK FREE
You need to discover your purpose for living and diligently pursue it (2Pet.1:10; Prov.22:29). Gather sufficient information on how to improve yourself in your chosen career, vocation, or trade (Prov.18:15; 24:4). Be intentional about creating multiple streams of income (Eccl.11:2). Find a problem around you that you can solve that will earn you good money. Acquire additional skills: re-skill and up-skill (Prov.9:9). Believe in yourself and have the ‘I can’ attitude (Phil.4:13).
Essentially, breaking free from poverty requires giving (Prov.11:24): pay your tithes and offerings (Mal.3:10-12), first fruit (Prov.3:9-10), give to the less privileged. Pray and study the word of God to know His perfect will for you in all your life’s endeavours (Ps.37:23). Stop living on debts, borrow only to invest (Prov.22:7).

CLASS ACTIVITY 2: Mention other things a believer can do to create wealth and avoid unnecessary borrowing.

CONCLUSION: Poverty is not pre-destined, therefore, change your mindset towards material wealth knowing that God gives the ‘power’ to make wealth (Deut.8:18).

CONCLUSION: Poverty is not pre-destined, therefore, change your mindset towards material wealth knowing that God gives the ‘power’ to make wealth (Deut.8:18).

QUESTIONS:
* Mention four factors responsible for poverty.
* How can believers break free from poverty?
