TOPIC: KNOWING JESUS FOR MYSELF: THE INCARNATION
PREACHER: Pastor Gabriel Iyanna
TEXTS:
John 1:14 (AMP),
Philippians 2:5–7 (NLT),
Galatians 4:4 (TLB)
Men fell and needed restoration.
Gen 3:15 – The restoration plan began.
Without shedding of blood – Heb 9:22
Gen 3:21 – First sacrifice of animals (atonement; God covering man’s nakedness).
Heb 10:4–5 (NLT) – Bulls and goats were not enough to clear sins.
Gal 4:4 – When the fullness of time came.
Insight: It is only God that can truly cover the nakedness and sin of man.
God kept making atonement, but it did not suffice—until He gave Himself.
WHAT IS INCARNATION?
Incarnation is God taking on flesh—God becoming man to accomplish redemption.
(Phil 2:5–7, Heb 2:14)
So, incarnation is the humanity of Christ that we have been dealing with—the reality and the significance of it.
Not half God, not half man—fully God and fully man.
SOME THOUGHTS ON INCARNATION
Incarnation was planned and executed solely by God
(Luke 1:35–37) – Not by human effort, but by the Holy Spirit.
Incarnation was not an accident or coincidence
It was divinely orchestrated and timed by God (Gal 4:4).
Incarnation is a mystery
(1 Tim 3:16) – God manifested in the flesh. The Eternal stepped into time.
The only one who can take away the sins of man is God Himself.
If you don’t believe in the Incarnation, the foundation of Christianity is missing.
* If God went through all this to redeem you back to Himself,
how can you belittle your salvation?
LESSONS FROM THE INCARNATION FOR US
1. Be present with people, not just preach at them
Jesus didn’t shout from heaven—He dwelt among us.
People are reached through presence before proclamation.
2. Embrace everyday life as holy
Your daily life is not secular—it is a platform for God.
Stop waiting for “spiritual moments”; carry God into your normal day.
3. Value humility over status
Christ humbled Himself (Phil 2).
Don’t measure your worth by recognition—serve even when unseen.
4. Hold truth and grace together
(John 1:14) – Full of grace and truth.
Let your words be seasoned with grace while standing in truth.
5. Live with purpose
Purpose gives direction.
Don’t drift—live intentionally.
6. Always depend on God no matter your capability
Even Jesus depended on the Father.
Strength is God-dependence, not self-sufficiency.
7. Identify with others without losing your identity
Relate to people, but remain rooted in Christ.
Compassion without compromise.
8. When suffering, suffer with meaning—not bitterness
The Incarnation led to the Cross—it was part of the mission.
God can use pain for purpose.
9. Reveal God through your lifestyle
“If you have seen me, you have seen the Father.”
If your character does not depict Christ, something is wrong.
10. Engage the world without becoming like it (Live above sin)
Be in the world, not of it.
Influence without compromise.
CLOSING
The Incarnation is God saying:
“I want you back. I want you to know Me personally.”
Like Paul said (Phil 3:10):
“That I may know Him…”
Not just talk about Him.
Not just work for Him.
But know Him for yourself.
