Where there is no law
Romance 5:12-19

24/02/2026

METHODIST CHURCH NIGERIA DAILY REFLECTION

DATE: TUESDAY, 24TH FEBRUARY, 2026

THEME: WHERE THERE IS NO LAW•••

PASSAGE: ROMANS 5:12–19

12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

13 (For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law.

14 Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam's transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come.

15 But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many.

16 And not as it was by one that sinned, so is the gift: for the judgment was by one to condemnation, but the free gift is of many offences unto justification.

17 For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)

18 Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.

19 For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.

THE MESSAGE:
In Romans 5:12–19, Paul addresses the profound impact of Adam's sin and how it has affected humanity. Through Adam's disobedience, sin entered the world, and death followed as its consequence. Because of Adam's sin, all humans are born into a state of sin and death. However, Paul contrasts this with the grace and righteousness offered through Jesus Christ. Just as sin entered the world through one man, it is through one man, Jesus, that righteousness and life are offered to all.

Paul argues that because all the races of the world came into being through Adam, therefore sin by Adam has universal affect whether on Jews or the Gentiles.

Paul explains that the law, which came later, made people more aware of their sin, but it did not have the power to save. In contrast, Jesus' act of righteousness brought justification and life to all who receive it. Where there was no law, sin was still present, but the grace of God through Jesus Christ is by far greater than the sin that came through Adam.
This passage reminds us of the incredible gift of grace that we have in Christ. The law reveals our sin, but it is through faith in Jesus that we are made righteous. Where sin abounds, grace abounds even more. Christ's sacrifice on the cross provides the opportunity for us to move from death to life, from condemnation to justification.

Brother/Sister, don't allow this free gift of grace to be in vain for you; grab it with genuine repentance of your sin and your salvation in heaven is assured.

MEMORY VERSE: Romans 5:17 “For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive God's abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the One man, Jesus Christ!”

HYMN: MHB 371 (8.8.8.8.8.8) AND CAN it be that I should gain

1 AND can it be that I should gain
An interest in the Saviour’s blood?
Died He for me, who caused His pain?
For me, who Him to death pursued?
Amazing love! how can it be
That Thou, my God, shouldst die for me!

2 ’Tis mystery all! The Immortal dies:
Who can explore His strange design?
In vain the first-born seraph tries
To sound the depths of love divine.
'Tis mercy all! let earth adore,
Let angel minds inquire no more.

3 He left His Father’s throne above—
So free, so infinite His grace—
Emptied Himself of all but love,
And bled for Adam’s helpless race.
'Tis mercy all, immense and free;
For, O my God, it found out me!

4 Long my imprisoned spirit lay
Fast bound in sin and nature’s night;
Thine eye diffused a quickening ray—
I woke, the dungeon flamed with light;
My chains fell off, my heart was free,
I rose, went forth, and followed Thee.

5 No condemnation now I dread;
Jesus, and all in Him, is mine!
Alive in Him, my living Head,
And clothed in righteousness divine,
Bold I approach the eternal throne,
And claim the crown, through Christ, my own.

Charles Wesley, 1707—88.

PRAYER: Eternal Father, thank You for the grace and righteousness You offer through Jesus Christ. Help me to live in the light of Your forgiveness and to share this gift of life with others through Jesus Christ, our Saviour. Amen.

DAILY REFLECTION FOR

TUESDAY 15 JULY, 2025

TEXT: 1 SAMUEL 17:33-41
³³ And Saul said to David, "You are not able to go against this Philistine to fight with him; for you are but a youth, and he has been a man of war from his youth."
³⁴ But David said to Saul, "Your servant used to keep sheep for his father; and when there came a lion, or a bear, and took a lamb from the flock,
³⁵ I went after him and smote him and delivered it out of his mouth; and if he arose against me, I caught him by his beard, and smote him and killed him.
³⁶ Your servant has killed both lions and bears; and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be like one of them, seeing he has defied the armies of the living God."
³⁷ And David said, "The LORD who delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear, will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine." And Saul said to David, "Go, and the LORD be with you!"
³⁸ Then Saul clothed David with his armor; he put a helmet of bronze on his head, and clothed him with a coat of mail.
³⁹ And David girded his sword over his armor, and he tried in vain to go, for he was not used to them. Then David said to Saul, "I cannot go with these; for I am not used to them." And David put them off.
⁴⁰ Then he took his staff in his hand, and chose five smooth stones from the brook, and put them in his shepherd's bag or wallet; his sling was in his hand, and he drew near to the Philistine.
⁴¹ And the Philistine came on and drew near to David, with his shield-bearer in front of him.

THEME: CONFIDENCE IN GOD

THE MESSAGE
Verse 37 of our passage says "David said moreover, the Lord who delivered me out of the paws of the bear, He will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine" This is a clear expression of absolute confidence in God. Confidence means self assurance, a feeling of certainty, a form of trust or belief.

David had such unwavering confidence and trust in God that everyone around him knew it. God must stand to defend anyone who so trusts in Him. No wonder Goliath became no match to the young boy.

It doesn't matter what confronts you at this moment, have an unwavering confidence in the ability of God to deliver you and put a song of victory in your mouth. Psalms 34:8 says "Blessed is the man that trusts in Him".

Confidence in the arm of flesh, money, human wisdom and knowledge or in connections will always fail but trust and confidence in God will never ever fail. Have unwavering confidence in God to the end and see the mighty works of God.

HYMN: MHB 521 (8.5.8.3)
1 I am trusting Thee, Lord Jesus,
Trusting only Thee;
Trusting Thee for full salvation,
Great and free.

2 I am trusting Thee for pardon.
At Thy feet I bow;
For Thy grace and tender mercy,
Trusting now.

3 I am trusting Thee for cleansing
In the crimson flood;
Trusting Thee to make me holy
By Thy blood.

4 I am trusting Thee to guide me;
Thou alone shalt lead,
Every day and hour supplying
All my need.

5 I am trusting Thee for power,
Thine can never fall;
Words which Thou Thyself shalt give me
Must prevail.

6 I am trusting Thee, Lord Jesus;
Never let me fall;
I am trusting Thee for ever,
And for all.

MEMORY VERSE:
1 Samuel 17 37.
"David said moreover, The LORD that delivered me out of the paw of the lion and out of the paw of the bear, He will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine.

PRAYER:
Dear Lord, don't allow my confidence in You to be moved as I remain determined and wait to see the victories of my current battles in Jesus' name. Amen.

DAILY REFLECTION FOR

THURSDAY JULY 10, 2025.

TEXT: PSALM 133
¹ Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity!
² It is like the precious oil upon the head, running down upon the beard, upon the beard of Aaron, running down on the collar of his robes!
³ It is like the dew of Hermon, which falls on the mountains of Zion! For there the LORD has commanded the blessing, life for evermore.

THEME: BLESSING IN FELLOWSHIP

*THE MESSAGE*
In the early church, as recorded in Acts 2-4, members were united and they were in "one accord" and shared things together. This was the secret of answered prayers and the growth of the early church and miracles, signs and wanders were done by the apostles. The sick were healed, the lame walked and the blind received their sight.

If brothers take fellow brothers to court before unbelieving judges and advocates, we malign one another and bring the sanctity of our sacred religion into the mud. It is time we saw ourselves as brothers and sisters. We must also help one another to rise from the valley to the mountain top in business and other goodies of life without compromising our faith in Christ.

David stated that unity is pleasant and precious. It is good and pleasant when brothers live together in unity. There is joy in fellowship. Unity is important because:
It makes the Church a positive example to the world and helps draw others to us
It helps us cooperate as a body of believers as God meant us to, giving us a foretaste of heaven
It renews and revitalizes ministry because there is less tension to sap our energy

Unfortunately unity does not abound in the Church today as it should. People disagree and cause division over unimportant issues. Some delight in causing tension by discrediting others. Living in unity does not mean that we will agree on everything, there will be many opinions just as there are many notes in a musical chord but we must agree on our purpose in life to work together for God. Our outward expression of unity will reflect our inward unity of purpose.

HYMN: MHB 778(S.M)
1 How beauteous are their feet
Who stand on Zion's hill,
Who bring salvation in their tongues,
And words of peace reveal

2 How cheering is their voice,
How sweet the tidings are!
Zion, behold thy Saviour King;
He reigns and triumphs here.

3 How blessed are our ears
That hear this joyful sound,
Which kings and prophets waited for,
And sought, but never found.

4 How blessed are our eyes
That see this heavenly light,
Prophets and kings desired long,
But died without the sight.

5 The watchmen join their voice,
And tuneful notes employ;
Jerusalem breaks forth in songs,
And deserts learn the joy.

6 The Lord makes bare His arm
Through all the earth abroad:
Let all the nations now behold
Their Saviour and their God.

MEMORY VERSE:
Psalm 133:1
How good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity.

PRAYER:
Thank You Lord, for the gift of family and friends, for the fellowship of believers and for good health always. Help us to help one another and to spread the Good news to all corners of the world, In Jesus name. Amen.

THEME: THE SOVEREIGNTY OF GOD

TEXT: PSALM 29
¹ Ascribe to the LORD, O heavenly beings, ascribe to the LORD glory and strength.
² Ascribe to the LORD the glory of his name; worship the LORD in holy array.
³ The voice of the LORD is upon the waters; the God of glory thunders, the LORD, upon many waters.
⁴ The voice of the LORD is powerful, the voice of the LORD is full of majesty.
⁵ The voice of the LORD breaks the cedars, the LORD breaks the cedars of Lebanon.
⁶ He makes Lebanon to skip like a calf, and Si'rion like a young wild ox.
⁷ The voice of the LORD flashes forth flames of fire.
⁸ The voice of the LORD shakes the wilderness, the LORD shakes the wilderness of Kadesh.
⁹ The voice of the LORD makes the oaks to whirl, and strips the forests bare; and in his temple all cry, "Glory!"
¹⁰ The LORD sits enthroned over the flood; the LORD sits enthroned as king for ever.
¹¹ May the LORD give strength to his people! May the LORD bless his people with peace!

MESSAGE
God reveals His great power in nature. We can trust God to give us both the peace and the strength to weather the storms of life. When caught in the storms of life, it is easy to think that God has lost control and that we are at the mercy of the winds of fate. In reality, God is sovereign. He controls the affairs of the world as well as our personal destinies.

Just as Jesus calmed the waters He can calm whatever storms His people may face. The cedars of Lebanon were giant trees that could grow up to 120 feet tall and 30 feet in circumference. A voice that could break the cedars of Lebanon would be a truly powerful voice, the voice of God.

Throughout history, God has revealed His power through mighty miracles over nature such as the great flood (Gen. 6-9). He promised to continue to reveal His power. In Ephesians 1:18-23, Paul urges us to understand how great God's power is. The same power that raised Christ from the dead is available to help us with our daily problems. When you feel weak and limited, don't despair. Remember that God can give you strength. The power that controls creation and raises the dead is still available to you. Just believe.

In the Psalm for today's devotion, David the writer, urged us "to give unto God the glory due unto His name" and to "worship God in the beauty of holiness." (v.2) He gives reason to praise God. God is good. He is a God of miracles and "The voice of the Lord shaketh the wilderness". He is the everlasting King of kings and Lord of lords. He gives strength to His people and blesses them.

What has the Almighty God done in your life for which you can praise His holy name? If you believe He is able to fight your enemies and give you peace of mind, bless you and promote your business (Psa. 75:6), begin to praise Him as David did in Psalm 29 and exalted His name. Surely, God is worthy of our praise, worship and thanksgiving.

HYMN: MHB 8 (5.5.5.5.6.5.6.5.)
1. O worship the King,
All glorious above;
O gratefully sing
His power and His love:
Our shield and defender,
The ancient of days,
Pavilioned in splendour,
And girded with praise.

2. O tell of His might,
O sing of His grace,
Whose robe is the light,
Whose canopy space;
His chariots of wrath
The deep thunder-clouds form,
And dark is His path
On the wings of the storm.

3. The earth with its store
Of wonders untold,
Almighty!Thy power
Hath founded of old,
Hath stablished it fast
By a changeless decree,
And round it hath cast,
Like a mantle, the sea.

4. Thy bountiful care
What tongue can recite?
It breathes in the air,
It shines in the light,
It streams from the hills,
It descends to the plain,
And sweetly distils
In the dew and the rain.

5. Frail children of dust,
And feeble as frail,
In Thee do we trust,
Nor find Thee to fail;
Thy mercies how tender,
How firm to the end,
Our Maker, Defender,
Redeemer, and Friend

6. O measureless Might
Ineffable Love!
While angels delight
To hymn Thee above,
The humbler creation,
Though feeble their lays,
With true adoration
Shall lisp to Thy praise.
Amen.

MEMORY VERSE:
Psalm 29:5 “The voice of the Lord breaks the cedars, the Lord breaks in pieces the Cedars of Lebanon.”

PRAYER:
Lord, speak Your word to calm every storm in my life because there is power in Your word. Amen.

METHODIST CHURCH NIGERIA DAILY REFLECTION

THEME: WITNESSING CHRIST

PASSAGE: JOHN 15:18–27

18 If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.

19 If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.

20 Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.

21 But all these things will they do unto you for my name's sake, because they know not him that sent me.

22 If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no cloak for their sin.

23 He that hateth me hateth my Father also.

24 If I had not done among them the works which none other man did, they had not had sin: but now have they both seen and hated both me and my Father.

25 But this cometh to pass, that the word might be fulfilled that is written in their law, They hated me without a cause.

26 But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:

27 And ye also shall bear witness, because ye have been with me from the beginning.

THE MESSAGE:
In John 15:18 Jesus states that “If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated Me first”.

From the time Jesus Christ started His ministry not everyone accepted Him. Despite all the healing works and miracles He performed the majority still hated Him and did not believe in Christ. For the same reason, He was subjected to all that He went through while on earth. He reminded all believers that in the same way they hated Him, they would also hate His followers.

If, therefore, the world despised Christians then, we are charged to love, comfort and support one another. In addition, He promised to give us the strength to do it.
Jesus offers hope as we face the hatred from the world and as we witness His name, the Holy Spirit gives us strength to endure the unreasonable hatred and evil in our world. The hostility many have towards Christ did not allow many unbelievers to embrace His word and message. Jesus uses two names for the Holy Spirit: ‘Counsellor’ and ‘Spirit of Truth’. The word counsellor conveys the helping, encouraging and strengthening work of the Spirit, while Spirit of truth; points to the teaching, illuminating, and reminding work of the Spirit.

The Holy Spirit ministers to both the head and the heart and both dimensions are important. So in witnessing Christ we must be ready like Him to face all sorts of persecution not only from outsiders but also from family members, friends, colleagues in offices and fellow Christians. As a result of the hatred, many Apostles, born-again believers and preachers suffered a lot. Many were killed in very mysterious ways. Despite all these, the Good News of Christ must spread to “all nations” according to the Great Commission our Lord gave to His followers in Matthew 28:18–20. Do not be discouraged but stay together as one Body in Christ, offering comfort and support to one another.

MEMORY VERSE: Acts 1:8 “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth”.

HYMN: MHB 334 (Irregular) THERE were ninety and nine that safely lay

1 THERE were ninety and nine that safely lay
In the shelter of the fold;
But one was out on the hills away,
Far off from the gates of gold,
Away on the mountains wild and bare,
Away from the tender Shepherd’s care.

2 Lord, Thou hast here Thy ninety and nine;
Are they not enough for Thee?
But the Shepherd made answer: This of Mine
Has wandered away from Me;
And although the road be rough and steep,
I go to the desert to find My sheep,

3 But none of the ransomed ever knew
How deep were the waters crossed,
Nor how dark was the night that the Lord passed through,
Ere He found His sheep that was lost.
Out in the desert He heard its cry,
Sick and helpless and ready to die.

4 Lord, whence are those blood- drops all the way
That mark out the mountain’s track?
They were shed for one who had gone astray,
Ere the Shepherd could bring him back.
Lord, whence are Thy hands so rent and torn?
They are pierced to-night by many a thorn.

5 And all through the mountains, thunder- riven,
And up from the rocky steep,
There rose a cry to the gate of heaven:
Rejoice, I have found My sheep.
And the angels echoed around the throne:
Rejoice, for the Lord brings back His own.

Elizabeth Cecilia Clephane, 1830—69.

METHODIST CHURCH NIGERIA DAILY REFLECTION

DATE: SUNDAY, 6TH JULY, 2025.

THEME: INSENSIBILITY TO GOD'S WORD

PASSAGE: ACTS 28:17–31

17 And it came to pass, that after three days Paul called the chief of the Jews together: and when they were come together, he said unto them, Men and brethren, though I have committed nothing against the people, or customs of our fathers, yet was I delivered prisoner from Jerusalem into the hands of the Romans.

18 Who, when they had examined me, would have let me go, because there was no cause of death in me.

19 But when the Jews spake against it, I was constrained to appeal unto Caesar; not that I had ought to accuse my nation of.

20 For this cause therefore have I called for you, to see you, and to speak with you: because that for the hope of Israel I am bound with this chain.

21 And they said unto him, We neither received letters out of Judaea concerning thee, neither any of the brethren that came shewed or spake any harm of thee.

22 But we desire to hear of thee what thou thinkest: for as concerning this sect, we know that every where it is spoken against.

23 And when they had appointed him a day, there came many to him into his lodging; to whom he expounded and testified the kingdom of God, persuading them concerning Jesus, both out of the law of Moses, and out of the prophets, from morning till evening.

24 And some believed the things which were spoken, and some believed not.

25 And when they agreed not among themselves, they departed, after that Paul had spoken one word, Well spake the Holy Ghost by Esaias the prophet unto our fathers,

26 Saying, Go unto this people, and say, Hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and not perceive:

27 For the heart of this people is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes have they closed; lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

28 Be it known therefore unto you, that the salvation of God is sent unto the Gentiles, and that they will hear it.

29 And when he had said these words, the Jews departed, and had great reasoning among themselves.

30 And Paul dwelt two whole years in his own hired house, and received all that came in unto him,

31 Preaching the kingdom of God, and teaching those things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ, with all confidence, no man forbidding him.

THE MESSAGE:
Acts 28:22 states that “But we want to hear what you believe, for the only thing we know about this movement is that it is denounced everywhere,” the people told Paul.

Christians were denounced everywhere by the Romans because they were seen as a great threat to the Roman government. People believed in one God but the Romans believed in many gods including Caesar. The Christians were committed to an authority higher than Caesar. Paul seemed to be keenly aware of how difficult it had been to spread the Gospel in all the places visited. He had enough experience with people trying to shut out the message of Jesus. He, however, thought that by the time he reached Rome, word of his arrival would have travelled faster than his boat was able to carry him. He expected note of caution or condemnation may be waiting there for him may have already spoiled his chance to be heard.

All he wanted was a fair hearing, for his accusers, the Jews, might not allow reports of him to form the basis of whether or not he would be allowed to speak. He made the strategic move of inviting the Jewish leaders directly in an attempt to seemingly minimize the damage that might have been done. He made them realize that he was not in Rome on a mission to cause trouble for them but that he was on their team after all, he is “bound in chains for the hope of Israel”

We are also to be strategic when preaching the Good News of the Gospel. Witness, explain and preach. Witness in a way, for the purpose of winning people to Christ. Do this in a way that the congregation can be encouraged to believe regardless of which direction we might choose. Leave God to touch the minds of the hearers. Avoid any controversy with unbelievers because they may turn the tide against you. Also pray for their deliverance from Satan's camp and the success of the mission.

MEMORY VERSE: Acts 28:27 “For the heart of this people is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes have they closed, lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them”.

HYMN: MHB 578 (S.M) A Charge to keep I have

1 A charge to keep I have,
A God to glorify,
A never-dying soul to save,
And fit it for the sky:

2 To serve the present age,
My calling to fulfill:
O may it all my powers engage
To do my Master’s will!

3 Arm me with jealous care,
As in Thy sight to live,
And O, Thy servant, Lord, prepare
A strict account to give!

4 Help me to watch and pray,
And on Thyself rely,
Assured, if I my trust betray,
I shall for ever die.

Charles Wesley, 1707—88.

PRAYER: Lord, I need You every hour as long as I have breath. Help me to be closer to You and never allow me to be a castaway in the end, in Jesus Name. Amen.

DAILY REFLECTION FOR

SATURDAY JULY 5, 2025

TEXT: ACTS 28:11-17
¹¹ After three months we set sail in a ship which had wintered in the island, a ship of Alexandria, with the Twin Brothers as figurehead.
¹² Putting in at Syracuse, we stayed there for three days.
¹³ And from there we made a circuit and arrived at Rhe'gium; and after one day a south wind sprang up, and on the second day we came to Pute'oli.
¹⁴ There we found brethren, and were invited to stay with them for seven days. And so we came to Rome.
¹⁵ And the brethren there, when they heard of us, came as far as the Forum of Ap'pius and Three Taverns to meet us. On seeing them Paul thanked God and took courage.
¹⁶ And when we came into Rome, Paul was allowed to stay by himself, with the soldier that guarded him.
¹⁷ After three days he called together the local leaders of the Jews; and when they had gathered, he said to them, "Brethren, though I had done nothing against the people or the customs of our fathers, yet I was delivered prisoner from Jerusalem into the hands of the Romans.

THEME: COMPANIONSHIP DESIRED

THE MESSAGE
Paul's desire had always been to preach the gospel in Rome then the centre of civilization and he eventually got there albeit in chains through shipwreck and after many trials. We can ask where the Roman believers came from? The gospel message had spread to Rome by various methods. Many Jews who lived in Rome had visited Jerusalem for religious festivals; some who were present at Pentecost (Acts 2:10) believed in Jesus and brought the message back to Rome. In addition, Paul has written his letter to the Romans before he visited there.

Paul's two-year stay in Rome was a success. It was the culmination of the Lord's plan spoken throughout the book of Acts. He wrote his epistle to Galatia, the Ephesians, the Philippians, to the Colossians, II Timothy and Philemon during his stay in Rome.

However, not everyone in Rome believed. It is essentially always the case that some believe and some do not believe. Hardly is there a place where ALL believer or all do not. Success is on God's terms. In the Lord's plan, the Gospel always reaches out and gets a hold of some people of every tribe, tongue and nation, male and female, barbarians, and slaves and the freed. Though Paul's desire was to preach the Gospel in Rome, he did not convert everyone because that was not the test of a good preacher. Some preachers often feel like a failure when people do not come to the faith.

The preacher is to preach the Good News of the Gospel, God is to convert the soul. The preacher is neither to be given credit for conversion nor to be blamed when his hearers refuse to come to the Lord in repentance. Not even Paul, in all his efforts could convert those who would disbelieve. In all things God worked for Paul's good.

You can trust Him to do the same for you. God may not make you comfortable or secure but He will provide the opportunity for you to do His work successfully. Believe in Him and His power to do miracles and He will do your own too.

*HYMN: MHB 948* _(10.10.10.10.)_
1 Abide with me; fast falls the eventide;
The darkness deepens; Lord, with me abide!
When other helpers fail, and comforts flee,
Help of the helpless, O abide with me.

2 Swift to its close ebbs out life's little day;
Earth's joys grow dim, its glories pass away;
Change and decay in all around I see;
O Thou who changest not, abide with me

3 I need Thy presence every passing hour;
What but Thy grace can foil the tempter's power?
Who like Thyself my guide and stay can be?
Through cloud and sunshine, O abide with me.

4 I fear no foe, with Thee at hand to bless;
Ills have no weight, and tears no bitterness;
Where is death's sting? where, grave, thy victory?
I triumph still, if Thou abide with me.

5 Hold Thou Thy Cross before my closing eyes;
Shine through the gloom, and point me to the skies;
Heaven's morning breaks, and earth's vain shadows flee:
In life, in death, O Lord, abide with me

MEMORY VERSE:
Titus 3:12
When I shall send Artemas unto thee or Tychious, be diligent to come unto me to Nicopolis for I have determined there to winter.

PRAYER:
Lord of grace, I ask for the grace to be a witness of Your name to unbelievers as long as I have breath. So help me, O Lord, Amen.
