In 1959, the Holy Office issued a Notification restricting the spread of the Divine Mercy devotion “in the forms proposed by Sister Faustina.”

The concerns were real and legitimate at the time: faulty translations of her Diary into other languages had introduced theological ambiguities, and the original Polish texts had not yet been thoroughly examined by the Holy See.

Cardinal Alfredo Ottaviani, then head of the Holy Office, exercised the careful doctrinal vigilance expected of his office. Like many responsible guardians of the faith, he sought clarity and orthodoxy before allowing a new devotion to spread widely.

Years later, Archbishop Karol Wojtyła of Kraków — who knew the original Polish writings and the devotion’s deep roots among the faithful — initiated a careful theological investigation. With the approval of the Holy Office, he advanced the cause. In April 1978 the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith lifted the earlier restrictions after reviewing the authentic documents.

Six months later, that same Archbishop was elected Pope John Paul II. He would later canonize St. Faustina and establish Divine Mercy Sunday for the universal Church.

What happened was not a victory of one side over another. It was the Church’s ordinary process of discernment: caution when materials were incomplete, then joyful approval once the truth was clarified.

The Holy Spirit guides the Church through both prudent restriction and eventual confirmation. Divine Mercy was not defeated — it was purified and then proclaimed.

Jesus, I trust in You.

MIDNIGHT CROSSOVER PRAYERS INTO THE MONTH OF AUGUST:

Beloved in Christ,

I invite you specially to the MIDNIGHT CROSSOVER PRAYERS INTO THE MONTH OF AUGUST.

Ending a month and Stepping into a new month is a great privilege from God and an opportunity to thank God, praise Him and ask for His blessings.
As we end the month of July in thanksgiving, and step into the month of August in faith, we need to pray to God and hand over the new month to God.
The month of August is a month of Divine visitation, Divine multiplication and Divine protection. We shall possess our possessions positively and mightily.
Don’t miss this great moment of prayers.

The prayer will be by: 12 midnight of Friday, 31st July, which is also 12am of Saturday, 1st August. It will end by 1am, Saturday, 1st August.

Please, do the prayers according to the time zone of the country where you are.

It will last for one hour. But, if you can do more than one hour, that is great.
This prayer is for only ONE NIGHT.

Please kindly be aware that it is NOT a live program on social media. It is a special active moment of prayers. We shall pray our way out wherever we are.

I WILL SEND THE PRAYER FORMAT ON FRIDAY EVENING.

Please note:
1) I will be celebrating the Holy Mass at that exact time for your intentions. You can send me your intentions for the Midnight mass.

2) Please, go for confession.

3) Keep your rosary close to you. We shall use it.

4) Booking of Mass is very important.

5) Be ready with your Bible.

6) Get holy water or holy oil ready. If you don’t have one, you can meet a Catholic priest to bless it for you.

7) Get your candles ready.

8) Be ready to stay awake and pray.

9) Prepare your body, your hands, and your dancing shoes to dance, clap, and shake your body in thanksgiving to God.

10) Fasting will be on Saturday, 1st August from 6am to 12noon. Please, don’t forget.

11) Keep trusting in God.

For those of us staying with family members, I encourage you to do the prayers with your family members. Get them prepared for this prayer. You can equally send this information and prayers to family members not staying with you, friends, colleagues etc.

For more information, kindly contact me on WhatsApp only: 08034357990, Fr. Kris Ikegwuonu, MDM.

God bless you abundantly amen.
