Summary of the Lecture: *The Temptation of claiming prophecy and the unseen in the Past and Present.* : Yesterday, 31st of December, 2024.
Lecturer: Sheikh Murtadoh Abdul Ghaffar (Baba Lekki). He is called Baba Practical in Ogun State.
With the salutations, praises, glorifications and prayers, he began. What we want to discuss is just a reminder on what we've been hearing. Though some of us might have not heard it but majority have.
In this time, many people claim to be God owned. There are lots of clerics (Alfas, Alufas, Wolis and all) that are claiming divinity. If one is not careful, he will be led astray.
He made a correction on the topic. The Temptation of claiming prophecy and the unseen in the past, *present and future* . Take note
No one knows about the future except Allah. We'll talk about Allah's Knowledge, that of the people, the angels, briefly.
•Things are confusing to man, a lot of things might be confusing to man but plain to Allah.
Knowledge is with Allah. The knowledge of all things and of the unseen as well.
This knowledge, Allah bestows it upon whom he wishes through Al wahad (whispers).
He reveals the knowledge to man in three ways.
I. In whispers
II. Through a barrier
III. Through an intermediary (e.g Angel Jubril)
Several verses of the Quran talks about knowledge of the unseen. Q42:51, Q8:29, Q31:29, Q16,78.
After the revelation of the Quran, all doors to other forms of revelations or knowledge of the unseen have been closed.
• As humans, we only know what Allah wants us to know, what he reveals to us or teaches us like that of Prophet Adam, Suleiman and Muhammad (Alayhisalam).
He talked about Kashif (or vision)- Some people could be gifted with such knowledge through dreams. In that case it is better to follow the sunnah ruling on dreams.
Allah bestows Kashif to righteous people and these people do not go around boasting about what they have been given.
Only Allah has the knowledge of the unseen.
Only Allah knows when the hour(judgement day) will be established.
No man knows when or where he will die.
All the knowledge is with Allah and everything has been predestined.
• *When we were born, we knew nothing. We had eyes but we could not see. We had ears but we could not hear.* Whoever knows this will not adopt unscrupulous means to gain knowledge that is not meant to be his.
Claiming knowledge of the unseen is like a man who occupied the seat of his Boss and his colleagues were calling him to order.
Today those who claim to know the unseen uses the jinns of which the Shaytan is their Boss and anything associated with Shaytan is Da'if (weak). And the end of these people is a bad, unfortunate one.
Evidence of the actions of the jinns is highlighted in the story of Prophet Suleiman who used the jinns as messengers.
The ruling on using the jinns for whoever apart from whom Allah permitted, is Haram in Islam and the end is destructive.
It is Haram to meet the fortune tellers and hear what they have to say. Whoever does this, his prayers will not be accepted for forty days but he must observe them. What if he dies in this state? Subhanallah!
Don't claim knowledge, it is only with Allah.
Again Know that everything has been predestined. Let us all stay on the right path.
