The Jurisprudence of Fatwa and Its Relationship to Maqasid -Based Fiqh
Daaru-Na'im Academy for Shariah Sciences of Nigeria is pleased to invite professors, lecturers, scholars, researchers, and students of knowledge, in general, to contribute to its academic journal, which will be published in conjunction with the organization of the International Academic Conference on "The Jurisprudence of Fatwa and Its Relationship to Maqasid-Based Fiqh" at the beginning of year 2025. The journal welcomes all submissions within the general framework of the conference, with the condition that the submission does not exceed five pages and adheres to the academic writing standards in Arabic, English, or French. Contributors may be guided by the following topics:
1. The concept of Fatwa, the jurisprudence of Fatwa, and Maqasid, Its origin, principles, and leading scholars in the field.
2. The manifestations of considering Maqasid jurisprudence in the Maliki school of thought.
3. Examples of Maqasid-based fatwas from Nigerian scholars.
4. The role of Maqasid in resolving scholarly disagreements: Models and evidence.
5. The phenomenon of new muftis and the multiplicity of local fatwa authorities in a single country.
6. Controversial fatwas in the Nigerian context.
7. The boundaries of accepting rare opinions and their connection to the legislator’s objectives.
8. The principle of considering the majority in fatwa and the principle of moderation in fatwa and their relation to Maqasid.
9. Guidelines for issuing fatwas on contemporary issues.
10. Applications of Maqasid in fatwas related to zakat, family, and Hajj.
11. Proposed revisions of fatwas in light of Maqasid.
12. The jurisprudence of the questioner and its relationship to guiding fatwas.
13. Practical proposals for forming effective national fatwa bodies.
14. Islamic Creed and its role in Maqasi
