ABEOKUTA -NIGERIA IBARA STAKE END OF YEAR ACTIVITY REPORT.

Date: December 20, 2025
Theme: "Pure Love of Christ"

The Abeokuta-Nigeria Ibara Stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints held its end of year activity on December 20, 2025, at the stake center. The event, themed "Pure Love of Christ," was a resounding success, drawing church leaders, members, friends, and guests from various units.

The program commenced with praises and adoration to the Most High, led by the stake choir and the YSA gathering choir, who rendered music in different Nigerian dialects. The stake president, President Bamidele Fagbemi, presided over the event, which featured a range of activities, including fast fingers giveaways, family challenges, and presentations from the units and wards.

Notable performances included a carols choreography by Lafanwa ward, cultural displays from Olomore branch (Yoruba) and Oke-Ata (Igbo), and a Wazobia fashion show by Opeoluwa ward. Sister Ijeola kick-started the event with a stirring Ewi (Yoruba poem), while testimonies were shared by Sister Adiye and Bishop Obaji of Opeoluwa ward.

Guest speakers, including Bro Charles Adebayo and President Victor Ukorebi, Stake President of Lekki Stake and National Coordinator of BYU (Brigham Young University) program in Nigeria, testified of Christ and His essence, emphasizing the importance of forgiveness, love, and remaining steadfast in faith.

In his closing remarks, President Fagbemi thanked attendees, committee members, and guests for their participation, reiterating the importance of embodying the "pure love of Christ" through forgiveness, love, and charity. He reminded members that Christmas is about Christ and urged them to avoid mundane activities that could drive the spirit away. The event concluded with a prayer for a fulfilling new year, 2026.

7TH ABEOKUTA NIGERIA IBARA ANNUAL STAKE CONFERENCE.

The 7th edition of the Abeokuta -Nigeria Ibara stake conference kicked off this morning 13/9/2025 with the ward and stake council comprising of leaders from the units and the stake.Elder Victor Bassey of the Area 70,was the presiding authority and conducting was President Peter Hope Udoh,the stake's first counselor.

There were inspiring talks first from President Andrew O.Mogbeyiromore who opened the conference talk by reminding us of our duties as saints in the Abeokuta -Nigeria stake of Zion.And highlighted our commitments I the sweet gospel we have embraced.There was training on Ministering performed by Brother Jimoh S. Nasir and Sister Deborah I.Ayepe both from Ope-Oluwa.

Following the training,there was another talk from President John M. James,branch president of Olomore branch who spoke on Daily Repentance and Covenant keeping.

The closing remarks by Elder Victor Bassey delved on the preponderant of issues earlier discussed viz:Repentance, Reconciliation, Confession, Restitution among others.
Elder Bassey told of a bitter experience in Calabar Stake where he once served as a bishop and Stake president of a sick brother who was variously neglected in the course of his sickness till his death and burial and charged is to be true brother keepers by taking our ministering assignments.seriously.

The Adult session was also fully packed with great messages from inspired leaders from the stake and wards.Talks were from President Peter Hope Udoh hammered on and the many ways we can combate the challenges and go out to seek for our brethren.

Bro Richmond Eyiki ,a YSA member of Lafenwa ward also spoke on Faith of Our Saviour Jesus Christ, telling us a story of how he developed faith during his preparation for the Monday 15/9/2025 YSA summit billed for Ibadan.
Bro James Francis Tarafanya,a Stake High councillor also talked on reverence for sacred things.He x-rayed avenues we could exercise reverence in both spiritual and temporal facets of our life.

Elder Bassey again capped the session with more teachings on forgiveness, obedience, prayers and constantstudy of the scriptures.He didn't fail to share his teething challenges as an Authority 70 in Ivory Coast where he got Ulcer inherent from food selection,the tedious journey of days to the French colony, language barrier.He charged us to be patient and resolute and never to give up.

The conference had a great turn up of more than 236 people in attendance at the Oke At Stake Centre, in the Ita Oshin Area of Abeokuta.

The conference shall be concluded tomorrow a General Session at the Ok Events Centre,Ibara Housing from 10am.

COMPREHENSIVE REPORT ON THE 2025 ABEOKUTA NIGERIA IBARA STAKE ALL WEST AFRICA SERVICE PROJECT.

Introduction

On Saturday,16th August 2025, the Abeokuta Nigeria Ibara Stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints successfully participated in the annual All West Africa Service Project. The project, held simultaneously across stakes and districts in the African West Area, aims to strengthen community bonds, promote environmental cleanliness, and exemplify the Christlike principle of service.

In Abeokuta, nearly 200 members of the church gathered along the Ayetoro Road median to carry out a large-scale cleanup exercise. Their united effort not only beautified the environment but also fostered goodwill among local stakeholders and passersby.

Project Activities

The service project involved a coordinated cleanup along the major road median:

Weeding and Clearing: Some members operated machines to cut overgrown grasses, while others used machetes for manual clearing.

Debris Collection: Women and youth were actively engaged in gathering the debris into Ogun State Waste Management Authority (OGWAMA) trucks.

Scrubbing and Finishing: With shovels and spades, participants carefully scrubbed the kerbs to leave the median neat and visually appealing.

The teamwork and dedication of members turned the exercise into both a service opportunity and a communal activity.

Stakeholders’ Comments

Church Leaders

Patriarch Adebayo Mustapha emphasized that Abeokuta Stake remains an active participant in this annual project, noting that African leaders of the church were inspired to institute this tradition. He highlighted that the Church remains the same worldwide in doctrine, worship, and programs.

President Bamidele Fagbemi, Stake President, reiterated that the assignment for 2025 focused on cleaning a section of the highway. He commended the effort of members, acknowledging the partnership with OGWAMA and the support from community leaders. He urged members to extend the spirit of cleanliness into their homes and neighborhoods.

President Andrew Mogbeyi, 2nd Counselor in the Stake Presidency, observed that the project was simultaneously being executed across Africa. He described it as a noble effort to safeguard the environment, maintain healthy living, and render selfless service to humanity.

Bishop Thomas Matthew Ochigbo of the Ibara Ward reported mobilizing about 30 members, underscoring the need for church members to treat the project as a recurring duty in their surroundings.

Bishops Obaji (Ope Oluwa Ward) and Nwaru Lazarus (Lafenwa Ward) both echoed this sentiment. Bishop Nwaru, as the host bishop, noted that the goodwill expressed by passersby demonstrated the project’s impact and encouraged greater participation in future events.

President Williams Ogunyemi Adetunji described the exercise as true service to fellow beings, which is equally service to God. He expressed gratitude that the activity was conducted safely without injuries.

The Final Goodbye: A Father’s Love in the Face of Death

In 1972, in the quiet town of Ajalli, near Awka in present-day Anambra State, a father made a choice that would forever be remembered—not for its defiance, but for its love.

Stanley Enekwe, a young man and former Biafran soldier, had been convicted of armed robbery and sentenced to death by firing squad. His people swore he was innocent, but their voices were drowned out by the harsh realities of the time. There would be no mercy.

In those days, public ex*****ons were not just a punishment; they were a spectacle. Families of the condemned rarely showed up, choosing instead to distance themselves, to avoid the shame. But Enekwe’s father was different. He refused to abandon his son.

On the day of the ex*****on, as Stanley stood facing his fate, his father stood beside him. Not in protest, not in anger, but in love. He did not look away. He did not flinch. As the midday sun bore down, and fear and tension filled the air, he reached for his son. With a trembling hand, he wiped the sweat from Stanley’s face—one last act of care, one last gesture of fatherly devotion.

And then, in a voice steady with faith, he whispered, “Fear not, the Lord is waiting to receive you.”

In that moment, death lost its power. Because love was stronger. Because a father’s final gift to his son was not sorrow, but the comfort of knowing he was not alone.

INVITE A FRIEND TO SEMINARY AND INSTITUTE INITIATIVE INAUGURATED IN ABEOKUTA NIGERIA IBARA WARD.

This well deserved program came at the right time when our youths are carried away by the ills of the generation Z ideals.Bishop Nicholas Obongha of the Ibadan S|I coordination center was in attendance accompanied by the stake leaders to usher in another beneficial program to assist our youth to hold on to our Savior Jesus Christ inspite of the distractions experienced in the world today.

The well attended event constitutes a series of seminar and workshop on how the seminary and institute students can invite their friends, family and loved ones to church educational programs.

In a video clip,the students were shown how they could go about this important spiritual assignment .

Some of the posters clearly posted on the stage read thus:Better together just like institute... Invite a friend; Step Up with Seminary ...better together.; Friends make everything better, including seminary... better together;I love Seminary etc.

The youths are to have these posters on their worship hall noticeboards where they could testify to their invitees the working and benefits of Seminary and institutes.

A demonstration by some youths on how they intend to do the invitation was carried out.

At closing the stake president,Pres. Bamidele Olumuyiwa Fagbemi addressed the students on amples ways to carry on the task by being of good character and by reflecting on all the teaching they get from the church, S/I and SIS programs of the church.

President Fagbemi finally charged the youths to go think of ways they could invite their friends to the initiative.He recalled his recent visit to the Lafenwa ward where the youths impressed him with the display of gospel doctrines during a combined class.He opined that, perhaps this will picture how serious our youths were ready to to imbibe on the religious culture while focusing on the truth of the gospel.
