Marriage is an institution that was started by God Himself Gen. 2:18. But today, this institution is under serious threat especially in this post-COVID era, hence the need for skillful navigation by those in the marriage institution and those planning to enter. To navigate means to direct carefully and safely. God's promise for us is to build us a home that will not just survive but flourish even through the storms of life. Gen. 1:27-28. New normal is defined as a previously unfamiliar or atypical situation that has now become the standard, usual, expected, or norm.A.Marriage TodayToday is characterized by a lot of things that have suddenly become the norm. It is clear that some are ungodly, while some are not so obvious that they are ungodly. Unfortunately, they have found their ways into Christian homes. The situation is worsened by the technology-enabled global village that has exposed people to all manners of profitable and unprofitable information
1.Unhelpful Living Arrangements - it is becoming common practice for husbands and wives to live in separate cities or indeed separate countries causing one spouse to become an absentee spouse and parent and thus making one spouse overburdened with parenting duties as s/he deals with the attendant loneliness occasioned by an absentee spouse
2.The increasing rate of marital infidelity - marital unfaithfulness through the violation of the s*xual exclusivity code is becoming more rampant.
3.Increasing Rate of In**st - In**st refers to the act of s*xual relationships between people who are related such as father/daughter, mother/son, or Siblings.The Bible condemns these acts - Leviticus 18:6 (NIV); Leviticus 18:9; 1Corinthians 5:1
4.The increasing rate of marital dissolution - According to research, marital dissolution or divorce was at 10% in the 19th century. By 1985, the rate of marital dissolution had risen to 50%
