SJGS Marks a Joyous Milestone with First Profession, Final Profession, and Silver Jubilee Celebration
To God be the glory!
The Congregation of the Sisters of Jesus the Good Shepherd (SJGS) has once again witnessed a remarkable milestone in its journey of faith and service to God.
In a joyful Eucharistic celebration, eleven sisters made their First Religious Profession, generously offering their lives to God through the vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience. Seven sisters made their Final Profession, sealing their lifelong commitment to Christ, while eleven sisters joyfully renewed their consecration to God as they celebrated their Silver Jubilee (25 years) of faithful religious life.
The Holy Eucharist was presided over by Most Rev. Ernest Obodo, Apostolic Administrator of the Catholic Diocese of Abakaliki. The celebration drew a large gathering of priests, religious men and women, family members, friends, and lay faithful from different parts of the country. Also present was the Founder of this noble religious family, Rt. Rev. Msgr. PatrickMary Anene Mmuo, whose presence added great joy to the occasion.
In his homily, Bishop Ernest Obodo encouraged the sisters to remain steadfast in their religious vocation by cherishing the vows they have professed and remaining deeply united to Christ, their Divine Spouse, who loves them unconditionally. He emphasized that a vibrant prayer life is the foundation of every fruitful religious vocation and urged them to remain faithful to prayer, which continually sustains and strengthens them on their journey of consecrated life.
We give thanks to God for His unfailing love and for the gift of these courageous women who have responded generously to His call. May the Good Shepherd continue to guide, strengthen, and sustain them as they joyfully serve the Church and humanity.
Congratulations to our newly professed sisters, our finally professed sisters, and our Silver Jubilarians! May God's grace remain abundant in your lives always.
