A MONTH WITH MARY - DAY 13
In this month dedicated to our Blessed Mother Mary, we are reminded of her total surrender to God’s will. Mary consecrated her entire life to the service of the Lord with humility, purity, obedience, and unwavering faith. From the moment she said, “Be it done unto me according to your word,” she became the perfect example of a soul completely dedicated to God.
Consecrated men and women in the religious life reflect this Marian spirit in a special way. Like Mary, they leave behind personal ambitions to follow Christ more closely. Through their vows and daily sacrifices, they become living witnesses of God’s love and presence in the world. Just as Mary carried Christ within her and brought Him to others, consecrated persons are called to carry Christ into the hearts of those they serve through prayer, charity, teaching, healing, and missionary work.
Yet even Mary’s journey was not without trials. She experienced uncertainty, suffering, sacrifice, and sorrow, but she remained faithful because her trust was rooted in God. In the same way, those consecrated to religious life need constant grace and strength to remain faithful to their vocation amid challenges and difficulties.
Today, let us look to Mary as the Mother and protector of all consecrated souls. May her example inspire them to persevere in holiness, and may her maternal intercession obtain for them the grace to remain joyful and faithful in their calling.
Let us pray for Consecrated Persons
O Blessed Virgin Mary,
Mother most pure and faithful servant of God, we come before you today to pray for all men and women consecrated to the religious life. You who gave your whole life to God with complete trust and humility, lovingly watch over all those who have answered the call to follow your Son more closely.
Mother Mary, intercede for every priest, religious sister, brother, monk, nun, missionary, and consecrated soul throughout the world. Obtain for them the grace to remain faithful to their vocation with joyful and generous hearts. When they are tired, strengthen them. When they are discouraged, comfort them. When they face trials, remind them that God’s grace is always sufficient.
Lord God Almighty,
we thank You for the gift of consecrated persons in Your Church. Through their lives of prayer, sacrifice, chastity, poverty, and obedience, they bear witness to the beauty of Your kingdom. Continue to pour out Your Holy Spirit upon them and sustain them daily in their chosen vocation.
Grant them deep love for prayer and intimacy with Christ. May they never lose sight of the reason for their calling. Fill their hearts with peace in moments of uncertainty and courage in moments of weakness. Protect them from temptation, discouragement, pride, and every distraction that seeks to draw them away from You.
Lord Jesus, Eternal High Priest,
sanctify those who have left everything to follow You. Bless the work of their hands, the words they speak, the communities they serve, and the hidden sacrifices they offer each day for the salvation of souls. May their lives continue to shine as lights in a world that longs for hope and truth.
We pray especially for those who are struggling in silence, those carrying heavy burdens, those experiencing loneliness, spiritual dryness, or fear about their vocation. Embrace them with Your mercy and renew within them the joy of their first “yes” to You.
Mother Mary, Queen of Vocations,
cover all consecrated persons with your mantle of protection. Teach them your humility, your obedience, your purity of heart, and your steadfast faith. Lead them always closer to Jesus and help them to remain faithful until the end.
Raise up many holy vocations in the Church, O Lord. Inspire young hearts to answer Your call with courage and generosity. May the witness of faithful religious men and women draw many souls closer to You.
We entrust all consecrated persons to Your loving care, Lord, trusting that the good work You began in them You will bring to completion.
Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
