YOU HAVE ETERNAL LIFE (1)

1 John 5:10-12 (NIV) Whoever believes in the Son of God accepts this testimony. Whoever does not believe God has made him out to be a liar, because they have not believed the testimony God has given about his Son. And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.

Too many believers often accept and believe the testimony and report of men and their circumstances more than they accept and believe the testimony of God. One reason why they do this is because they are living by sight (their physical senses, feelings, and reasoning) and not by faith (their realities in God as stated in His word).

When it comes to sickness for example, instead of being quick to say what the doctor or your body tells you that you have, always remember that God says you have eternal life. Do not claim and accept what God did not say that you have. The real you is who you are in the spirit. You are a spirit, you have a soul and you live in a body. In the spirit, you are one with Christ. Whatever is true about Christ is true about you and whatever is not true about Christ is not true about you.

Take your treatment, but know that God’s testimony of you is not that you have that sickness. His testimony is that you have eternal life and by the stripes of Jesus, you are healed. There may be symptoms in your body, but the reality of the life of God in your spirit is stronger than those symptoms or that ailment. The life of God in you will swallow it up! “Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world,” (1 John 4:4).

Faith Declaration:

I have eternal life. Despite any symptoms or reports I see, my reality is by the stripes of Jesus I am healed.

YOU HAVE JESUS

JOHN 5:5-9
And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years. When Jesus saw him lie, …he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole? The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: … Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk. And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked:…

As a child of God, you are never disadvantaged in life or in any situation. Please do not let the fact that things have been happening around you in a certain way, limit your faith in any way. When people came to the pool of Bethesda to be healed, an angel of God will appear at a certain time and stir the water. It so happened that the first sick person to be put into the pool after it was stirred, received their healing. This meant that there was no hope for those who were sick but had no one to put them into the pool.

Like the man in our text above, you may be feeling frustrated because based on the prevailing circumstances and the experiences of others, it seems like you do not have what it takes to receive your healing or to experience any other kind of miracle or breakthrough that you desire. But Jesus wants you to know that because you have Him, you have all you need to experience that miracle, breakthrough, or good thing that you desire. You are complete in Him, (Col.2:9-10). The Bible says, “What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?” (Rom.8:32). Because you have Jesus, you have all you need. Put your faith in Jesus and not in yourself or what you have or do not have.

FAITH DECLARATION:
MY FAITH IS FULLY IN JESUS. BECAUSE I HAVE JESUS, I HAVE ALL THAT I NEED TO EXPERIENCE MY HEALING, MIRACLE, AND DESIRE🙏🏽.

LIVE BY THE WORD OF GOD

Matthew 4:3-4, 1Peter 1:23 (NLT) And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. *For you have been born again, but not to a life that will quickly end. Your new life will last forever because it comes from the eternal, living word of God.

The life you have now is supernatural. It is from the Word of God, and it is influenced and controlled by the Word of God. The Word of God controls your experience and the frequency of life you operate in. The only way you can be all God wants you to be is as you receive and hold on to what God says about you in His Word.

According to Mark 16:18, no deadly thing shall hurt you and as you lay hands on the sick, they shall recover. According to Psalms 1:3, you are like a tree planted by the rivers of water, you will always bring forth fruit in your season, your leaves will not wither, and whatsoever you do shall prosper. According to 1 Timothy 4:4-5, everything you eat or drink is sanctified by the word of God and prayer. According to Isaiah 54:17, no weapon formed against you shall prosper. It doesn’t matter what people around you are experiencing. What matters is what God has said about you. Believe it, declare it, give thanks for it, and hold on to it.

At the words of Jesus, Peter launched out into the deep and caught a large number of fish, even though he had toiled all night and caught nothing (Luke 5:4-6). By the words of Jesus, you too are going to experience great abundance and expansion in places where you struggled and achieved nothing in the past.

Prayer:

Father, as I receive and declare your Word into my life, I thank you for your supernatural power and abundance that I experience.

YOU ARE A CITIZEN OF HEAVEN

PHILIPPIANS 3:20-21 (GNB), HEBREWS 12:22-23a (GNB) We … are citizens of heaven, and we eagerly wait for our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, to come from heaven. He will change our weak mortal bodies and make them like his own glorious body, ….*…you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, with its thousands of angels. You have come to the joyful gathering of God's first-born, whose names are written in heaven.*

By your faith in Christ, you have become a citizen of Heaven. There is joy in Heaven when a soul gets saved because, by faith in Jesus, that soul becomes a citizen of Heaven. In The Passion Translation, Hebrews 12:23a says, “And as members of the church of the Firstborn, all our names have been legally registered as citizens of heaven!” Heaven is now your home. When you are done with the assignment God has for you on this earth, you will return home to Heaven. The more like Christ you become, the more you will function like Him as you do His work, and the more rewards you will get when we return home.

Though you are in this world, you are not of this world, just as Jesus is not of this world (John 17:16). This is why you cannot live your life by the principles and ways of this world. You are from above. You must live your life by the wisdom that is from above (James 3:17-18). Always think, speak, and act like someone who is from above. He that is from above is above all (John 3:31). You are seated with Christ in Heavenly places; a position where you are far above principalities and powers (Eph. 2:6, Eph. 1:20-21). The economy and resources of Heaven are also available for you. God has blessed you with all spiritual blessings in Heavenly places in Christ Jesus (Eph. 1:3) and God supplies all your needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus (Phil. 4:19).

FAITH DECLARATION:

I am a citizen of Heaven and Heaven is my home. I live by God’s ways, I manifest dominion and I enjoy Heaven’s resources.

YOU ARE A WORTHY AMBASSADOR OF CHRIST

2Corinthians 5:18-20 (NIV) All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are…Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.

God has a divine purpose for your life. Now that you have the life of Christ, your purpose is the purpose of Christ. Jesus died your death so you can live His life and live for Him (2 Cor. 5:14-15). This is why Apostle Paul said, “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me” (Gal. 2:20). God has made you like Christ so you can function like Christ and fulfill the purpose of Christ. This is your high calling (Phil. 3:14). This is why Jesus has sent us into the world just as the Father sent Him (John 17:18, John 20:21).

As ambassadors of Christ, His passion must be our passion. The same passion that drove Him to the Cross must drive us to the lost. Our utmost desire must be to reconcile men to God. This we must do by preaching the Gospel of Christ and manifesting His life and power. Evangelism is our supreme task. We have been divinely empowered by the Holy Spirit to carry out this divine mission of being witnesses of Christ and making disciples for Christ (Acts 1:8, Matt. 28:18-20). The home country of an ambassador is responsible for his/her protection and upkeep. Every resource that was available for Christ to fulfill His mission is also available to you.

Prayer:

Father, I thank you for empowering me to be a witness for Christ. Please use me to preach the Gospel and reconcile men to you.

THE LORD’S ARROW OF VICTORY

2KINGS 13:15-17 (NLT) Elisha told him, “Get a bow and some arrows.” And the king did as he was told. Elisha told him, “Put your hand on the bow,” and Elisha laid his own hands on the king’s hands. Then he commanded, “Open that eastern window,” and he opened it. Then he said, “Shoot!” So he shot an arrow. Elisha proclaimed, “This is the Lord’s arrow, an arrow of victory….

Right before his death, the king of Israel visited Elisha, and Elisha told him to put an arrow in a bow, draw it, and point it out the window. Elisha placed his hands on the king's hands and told him to shoot the arrow. Elisha then said to him, “This is the Lord’s arrow of victory.”

What Elisha did was a prophetic illustration of your reality as a child of God. In whatever your hands find to do, God wants you to know that His hand is upon your hands. Because of this, what you are engaged in is no longer ordinary. It now carries God’s unction and victory. It shall not fail.

The Lord will strengthen you, and He will teach you how to overcome your challenges and battles (Psa. 144:1). The Lord will lighten your candle and enlighten your darkness. By Him you will run through troops and leap over walls (Psa. 18:28-29).

You are not alone, and you are not hopeless. God is with you, and your victory is sure. As you remain conscious that the hand of the Lord is upon you, the Lord will guide you on how you should go about what you are doing, and the Lord will use what you are engaged in as a tool to advance His kingdom.

PRAYER:

Father, I thank you that your hand is upon me and upon all I am engaged in. I receive your direction, strength, and victory.

THE JOYS AND REWARDS OF ADVANCING GOD’S KINGDOM

MATTHEW 25:21 (NKJV), REVELATION 22:12-13 (NIV) His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’ *“Look, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to each person according to what they have done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.

There is nothing like the privilege of causing great joy in heaven (Luke 15:10). There is nothing like the joy of hearing God say to you, “Well done for being good and faithful in your service to Me.” There is nothing as good as knowing that while on earth, you yielded yourself to God’s Spirit, fulfilled God’s purpose, and brought so much joy to God’s heart.

After Jesus humbled Himself and fulfilled God’s will by dying on the Cross, He was promoted (Phil. 2:8-9). As we remain faithful in advancing God’s kingdom, God will continue to promote and elevate us, both now and in eternity. When the master in our first text above returned, He promoted and increased the responsibilities of those who were faithful in using what they were given to carry out His will.

When Christ returns, we shall receive rewards for our service in preaching the Gospel and advancing God’s kingdom on earth (1Cor. 3:13-14). We shall receive the crown of life for enduring trials and tests of our faith (James 1:12). The crown of glory for faithfully serving and feeding God’s flock (1Pet. 5:2-4). The crown of rejoicing for winning souls (1Thes. 2:19), the crown of righteousness for looking forward to Christ’s return and living uprightly (2Tim. 4:7-8), and an incorruptible crown for living disciplined and self-controlled lives (1Cor.9:25).

PRAYER:
Father, I desire to fulfill your purpose on earth and bring so much joy to your heart. Use me to advance your kingdom on earth.

PRAY FOR THE ADVANCEMENT OF GOD'S KINGDOM

COLOSSIANS 1:9 (GNB), MATTHEW 6:10 (GNB), PHILEMON 1:4 (GNB)

For this reason we have always prayed for you, ever since we heard about you. We ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will, with all the wisdom and understanding that his Spirit gives. _may your Kingdom come; may your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. _Brother Philemon, every time I pray, I mention you and give thanks to my God.

Prayer is a major way we partner with God in advancing His kingdom on earth. Pray for the spread of the Gospel (Luke 10:2, 2 Thess. 3:1, Col. 4:2-3). Pray for the salvation of all men and for those in authority (1 Tim. 2:1-4). Pray that those who are being saved will be properly discipled and rooted in Christ. Pray for God's will to be done and for His kingdom to prevail in various nations and spheres of influence in society. Pray for the Church, fellow believers, and ministers of the Gospel. Jesus prayed for Peter's faith to be preserved despite the trial he would face (Luke 22:31-32). Pray for the hearts of believers to be enlightened with their realities in Christ and the love of God (Eph. 1:15-20, Eph. 3:14-19). Like Epaphras, pray fervently for fellow believers to stand perfect and complete in all the will of God for their lives (Col. 4:12). Pray in the Spirit (Eph. 6:18-19).

When God revealed His will to Daniel and Elijah regarding specific situations, they prayed fervently about it until it came to pass (Dan. 9:1-3; 1 Kings 18:1, 41-45, James 5:17-18). The Holy Spirit will strengthen and direct you as you pray. Remember to always pray in faith and with thanksgiving, for this is God's will for you (Phil. 4:6; 1 Thess. 5:18).

PRAYER:
PRAY FERVENTLY FOR THE SPREAD OF THE GOSPEL AND THE ADVANCEMENT OF GOD'S WILL ON EARTH AS YOU ARE LED BY THE SPIRIT.

19/08/2026

ABOVE ONLY DAILY DEVOTIONAL

BY: ARCHBISHOP M. E. BENSON IDAHOSA

WEDNESDAY AUGUST 19TH, 2026

HOW IS YOUR PASSION FOR ADVANCING GOD'S KINGDOM?

JOHN 4:34 (AMPC), JOHN 9:3-5 (NIV)
“…My food (nourishment) is to do the will (pleasure) of Him Who sent Me and to accomplish and completely finish His work. _'Neither this man nor his parents sinned,' said Jesus, 'but this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him. As long as it is day, we must do the works of him who sent me. Night is coming, when no one can work. While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.'"

There will be many times when doing the will of God (preaching the Gospel, overcoming sin, serving in God’s house, walking in love, yielding to the Spirit, and remaining diligent) will not be convenient. But it is in those times that we prove how passionate we are for advancing God’s kingdom. In Gethsemane, Jesus said, _"not my will but your will be done, O God"_ (Luke 22:42). You are God’s workmanship.

If you refuse to arise, shine, and make an impact by doing God’s will, darkness (the devil’s will) will continue to prevail on the earth (in various lives, nations, and spheres of influence in society).

Stop living for yourself because your life no longer belongs to you _(2Cor. 5:14-15, Rom. 12:1)_. Like the mighty men of David, be willing to risk your life and do all it takes to carry out the desires in the heart of God your Father _(2Sam. 23:15-17)_. Like David, be a man/woman after God’s heart who is sold out to doing God’s will _(Acts 13:22)_. Like Jesus, let your greatest joy and satisfaction come from doing the will of God and advancing His kingdom. Apostle Paul said, _"But my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus—the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God"_ (Acts 20:24, NLT)_. Have this mindset.

PRAYER:
I SURRENDER MYSELF TO YOU, DEAR FATHER. USE ME TO DO YOUR WILL AND ADVANCE YOUR KINGDOM. I AM AVAILABLE TO YOU.
