THE VEKEE JAMES CONVERSATION & WHAT KINGDOM MARRIAGE REALLY TEACHES
The internet has been buzzing since Veekee James shared her honest views about marriage and what a “virtuous woman” should be like in the home.
Her comments stirred reactions because many people have different expectations of what a woman should do, who should provide, and how marriage roles should work.
But to truly understand marriage the way God designed it, we must go back to kingdom values, not social media opinions.
1. In a Kingdom Marriage, the Man Is Not the Ultimate PROVIDER, God Is
This is one of the most misunderstood truths today.
Yes, a man works.
Yes, a man should be responsible.
Yes, a man should provide leadership and stability.
But in a kingdom marriage, God is the real provider.
He may choose to channel provision through the man.
He may choose to channel it through the woman.
Or through both.
What matters is that both partners honour God as their SOURCE!
When God is the provider:
There is no competition
There is no inferiority
There is no pressure to “outdo” each other
The home becomes a team, not a battlefield
A kingdom marriage is you and your spouse against the world, not against each other.
2. A Kingdom Marriage Is Built on Purpose, Not Just Emotion
Love is important.
But love alone cannot sustain a marriage.
A kingdom marriage exists for kingdom purpose, to advance God’s plan through your union.
So when choosing a partner, it’s not just about who you’re attracted to, but:
Do our visions align?
Can we grow spiritually together?
Do we bring out God’s best in each other?
Purpose gives direction, Love gives connection then God gives strength
3. The Woman Is a Partner, Not a Slave
The trending conversations about the “virtuous woman” sometimes make people think a woman’s role is to suffer quietly.
Not in kingdom marriage.
A kingdom woman is:
Valuable
Respected
Heard
Treasured
Supported
She is not belittled, controlled, or maltreated. Her gifts, intelligence, and strength matter.
The virtuous woman in Scripture was strong, wise, industrious, and confident, not a doormat.
4. Leadership and Submission Work Together, Not Against Each Other
In a kingdom marriage:
The man leads with love, The woman submits with honour
Leadership is not dictatorship. Submission is not slavery.
When a man loves like Christ, gently, sacrificially, patiently, the woman naturally follows his leadership with joy, not fear.
And when a woman honours and supports her husband, he leads better, loves deeper, and grows stronger.
Both roles feed into each other. Both roles require humility. Both roles glorify God.
If you truly desire a kingdom marriage, you must build it the kingdom way:
God as the PROVIDER
Purpose as the foundation
Honour as the culture
Love and submission working hand-in-hand
